Script wanted, "Trip Flare"
Lunatic replied to Lunatic's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Thank you for the suggestion, but I have very limited knowledge of scripting, therefore I need a good explanation of what to put where. I can script a light to come on, but what i can't do is simulate a trip flare. So it would need to be on a trigger, burn like a para flare, giving off smoke etc, be ground based, and burn for 60 seconds. Any help is gratefully received (Sound like a fricking charity) -

Can't get this to work. Do I need to place this in a script or just on activation in a trigger? Do I need to place an object with a name and then assign the name to the position enter name? Thank you for the help so far.:) ---------- Post added at 06:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:38 PM ---------- Got it to work, but it doesn't work as a trip flare would. This produces a Para Illum, where as a trip flare is ground mounted and burns for approx 1 min. Thank you for the help. -

Meant as light hearted, obviously irony lost  To answer your question, if you can be a paedophile:mad: in second life, then actually maybe the police;) and kill;) people should be in it. Not that i have ever used it.

To be fair, afgahan ain't all desert, in fact their is a lot of green, especially in the green zone, so erm, maybe with the tunnels, caves, rivers, green type zones, with open dusty areas, mountains, valleys, scree slopes etc it might be quite a compromise. -

Placebo, don't want to wade in, but as i know you from old, I'm sure you will take my comments in the spirit that they are meant. If you bought a new car that ran at 5 Mpg you'd wonder why, after a lot of discussions with the manufacturer you were told it was teething trouble, live with it, and then two weeks later no resolution, I believe you too would be rightfully annoyed. This does not make it acceptable that for some that car works as planned and for some it does not. When we have all payed the same amount for the same thing. I understand that the components under the hood differ and therefore are hard to quantify, but none the less, if my pc meets the minimum and recommended specs, then I expect it to run decently if not well. I also understand that you are a mod and as such have litttle or no say over development, so the vent is not personal. More at the devs. Although I would like to add that if Marek or Suma were to post a response this would go some way as to relieving the community of their desire for knowledge, that something is being done; that BIS can replicate the problem; and that all will be well as soon as a fix is found. All that we are hearing at the mo is a mixed bag of "it works fine for me" and a lot of "I can't get above 25 fps". Something somewhere is wrong with the game, that much is plane to see. Please don't fob us off with excuses that "xxx's works ok therefore that game isn't to blame". The constant trawl of posts that complain about performance etc prove that something ain't right! But like i first said this isn't personal, we just need to know what is happening! -

I'm not entirely sure what rig Bis use for testing, if they told us their specs maybe it would help. My PC is well above the recommended settings and still crawls. If BIS have an I7 Nvidia 2xx Vista x 64 with above 6 gig of ram i'm sure they can replicate the issue.l -
Please can we have a statement from BI

1 X gtx 280 6 GB Ram I7 940 OC'd Horrid performance, and to think OPFP ran so well. Also as a side note, not sure why OPFP2 keeps getting mentioned, has naff all to do with BI, Codemasters bought the IP to OPFP so OPFP2 is a Codies game and not BI. -

Vista X64 couldnt talk from within Arma2 with TS, running TS as admin solved the issue.
