  1. There are chairs and CHAIRS with plug sockets all around the world, thank God. You know, like on trains, in airport lounges, cafes, even in cars etc., that`s `high performance`mobile gaming. If I want battery life, would buy an anus eebee and play mario 3 :D 5kg+? you`re a lightweight guy? Finally - mid/range with no upgrade? for 2 years more than sufficient. [€2,000+ ... nope ... £2000+] P.S.: I am Hugh Hefners Landlord and Lewis Hamilton drives me to work everyday... you know, flawless :D [sorry for off-topic, couldn`t refuse :o]
  2. Proper?! What`s that? Something that ties me to a chair? hell no! Proper?! With the choice from these, I can only laugh at some `boxes` Coreâ„¢ 2 Quad Coreâ„¢ 2 Extreme Quad Coreâ„¢ i7 Extreme [late `09] Single 1GB GDDR3 GeForce GTX 280M Dual 2GB GDDR3 GeForce GTX 280M ... and all that on the move, and when I sit down in the livingroom, will just plug HDMI to the 42"plazma and play Arma 2 or NFS: Shift, OFP 2, Assassins creed 2, and ofcourse Diablo 3 on best detail available. ... you have probably value for money on your mind, well, not on mine. I take it more like a gaming investment for another 2 years and makin` my self a delight
  3. ... well ... I have changed my mind with the OS and made an upgrade to Windows 7 x64 Ultimate build 7232 and I really love it ! It`s not even a completed system, but kicks vista out of the game for me, fast, stable, great. When it comes to arma 2 gameplay, I have gained about 4-7 FPS on 1920x1200, range 2,4km, 2/3 high, rest medium ... but I have also changed the RAM to 8.00 GB [from 2.5 GB], which might be the cause, but a great system indeed, can only recommend.
  4. I don`t think that you would gain any significant boost in-game experience [graphics or FPS or whatever/] with changing the OS [32bit versions atleast]. Depends on what resolution you play, try just for scientific purpose running the game on complete max and run some fps monitor, then you can determine if you really need to change anything on your XPS. ... btw., tommorow I will try to make a OS sweep from Vista x86 Home Premium TO Vista x64 Ultimate and upgrading memory [sometime wednesday] from 2.5GB to 8GB [2x Kingston 4GB PC2-5300 200-PIN DDR2 667MHz] to see if it`s going to make FPS on Very High details in 1920x1200 playable :D
  5. Definetly at high, since mine does on 1920x1200. ... should go even higher due to CPU. ... don`t forget latest DirectX [on DVD] + manuf.drivers!
  6. My brothers uses the Core i7-940, 2.93 GHz for AutoCad and occasional gaming [moron :p], and it`s really a destroyer, but a nice headspin after a year when an upgrade is required, or even possible, if U wanna stick to the latest games. And I am a little bit old school, Intel+Nvidia, AMD+Ati, so I would go for the GTX 275, maybe higher, but that`s me, and besides I lowe mobile systems :D
  7. Well .... it seemed to me a little bit overpriced by alienware the 2 dedicated SO-DIMM Dual Channel DDR2 Memory of 4GB [up to 8GB omg ] ... so I took only the 2x512MB, thrown out one and replaced it with a 2GB... so you have 2GB+512MB = 2.5 GB presto :D ... and till I don`t need more, I will save those few minutes of battery life instead  Gonzo... what kind of memory do you have, brand, spec, dual ch.? PS: 9600gt <against> Min.Spec.: Graphics card with 256 MiB VRAM and Shader Model 3.0 .... should be low/med. details, options tweaking required I guess :)
  8. Hi. First I want to thank all the sites that were scaring people, that they won`t be able to play this GREAT game, incredible approach really ! :D Got my hands on the German edition + updated it to 1.01, tried, and was pretty surprised, despite the HW recommendation reviews because I have a: System : Alienware m15x [Laptop !] CPU: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz [6MB L2 Cache] Memory: 2.50GB DDR2 Chipset: Quanta Computer Mobile PM965/GM965/GL960 GPU: 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8800M GTX HDD: 120GB Sata 7200 RPM [+500GB in Smart Bay] OS: Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 32bit ... and I am playing till now with this with no graphic issues on res.1920x1200 in High details [except shadows on normal] ... and with visibility of `2000`. Don`t know what`s going on, but thank you very much to the BIS team for great mobile system `optimalization`, Cheers guys ! :D
