The 1.02 patch fixes this problem (for me at least) and i'm in, at least as far as the main menu screen. Time to play! Thanks guys!

Have now also sent off my startup analysis. Lets hope they can create a repair or if not then i'm also hoping patch 1.02 does the trick. Although Maruks question are not directed at me I can confirm that in my circumstance, both of my DVD drives are internal devices and both are firmware updated. Cavendish, mine came in the post Thursday also. I've installed it 3 times over now (once in safe-mode) but still I double click the armaII desktop shortcut, my hard disk light shows some activity, task-manager sees a process called arma2 running for maybe 5 seconds, my dvd drive light shows activity for perhaps 2 seconds then arma2 gets dropped from the process list. After that, nothing... as if I hadn't even tried it. Updated my dvd drivers, video drivers but no joy. My specs are over the minimums and i'm the proud owner of a legit boxed copy of armaII however 6 hours and 3 installs later I still cant get past the desktop shortcut. Securom is just a joy isn't it.
