    I like this game but...

I wrote a single player mission, gave the enemy orders to board their truck, move to destination, unload, then go into search and destroy. They get out of the truck, stand at the back of the truck playing pocket pool, and enjoying a nice cup of coffee, and a smoke. Then they will wander around behind the truck. I threw a single grenade into the middle of them. Now is this dumb AI or what? Sometimes they will get out of the truck and go search and destroy, and sometimes not. This is what happens when not. Dummies
  3. I can load user created maps, but I want to launch SuperPowers. I can't find the name of the mission to put into my map rotation. I see something called warfare2 in my addons. Seems simple enough. ---------- Post added at 04:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:23 PM ---------- woot I found it.

    Any tutorials on Command Menus

command fire is telling the gunner in the tank or apache to fire. Which is in the flying tutorial.

ArmA II compared to other games ...

But he posts a troll message about two games that don't compare in the slightest in depth and game play, he deserves the backlash. It's like comparing a Dodge to a Harley.

ArmA II compared to other games ...

Arma2 vs. Pong Pong has WAY WAY WAY more FPS than arma2. Pong must be better.
  7. Squigibo

You either like the game or you dont.

I look at the armory as sort of a mini-game.
  8. Couple things that come to mind looking at the OP. First, they threw CD's overboard? Why? They too big to keep around? You really think they tossed em because the game sucked? Or supposed to have sucked? I'm talking Arma1 which is actually a huge success and a loyal fan base? True when it came out it was unplayable for everybody, but did everybody just throw out the CD's? I know on a Battleship, there's limited room, but you throw out a CD? I just find that hard to believe. Second, there's a network on the ship. Don't you think someone would have put up a little server and hosted a session? Wiped out a little mission with the editor and had a blast? So by saying it has no multiplayer is incorrect, they could have put a lan party together. Third: I'm almost through the campaign myself, and what other people were reporting as bugs were actually stupid mistakes on my behalf. I changed the way I commanded my squad and got through those parts. I may have a "gotcha" up ahead, but I'm mostly playing multi-player now. Forth: Most PC's on a battleship are of the laptop variety. Most laptops aren't supported nor recommended, and in light of the heavy requirements for Arma2 most laptops wouldn't be able to run it anyway very well.
  9. What problem? Because he can't play Internet and bashing a SINGLE game? How is bis supposed to FIX the fact he can't play on the internet being at sea? Why is this OUR problem? He may as well bash the Navy for not allowing him to play on the internet on a warship. And that's BIS's problem?
  10. Uh.... so what? So you don't have internet. Who cares? I bet you didn't have a few corvette's on board to race around in either? Does that make a corvette bad? I bet you couldn't play World of Warcraft on board either? Or how about the hundreds of other games that require internet to fully appreciate the game. Does it make all those games bad because you personally don't have internet? I see why you were labeled a troll. It still fits.

    PiLfIuS profile for ArmA2

Okay, after a lot of pain, I decided to parse out the Pilfius command list that was originally posted. I tried using the list that was published in spreadsheet form, but that's far more commands than what is in the Pilfius file. so It's up on a website in digestible form. Pilfius Commands ---------- Post added at 04:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:42 PM ---------- I've read every story to my computer to train it. It works great with other software, dictation etc.... but Pilfius just goes "huh?" ---------- Post added at 04:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:01 PM ---------- Windows 7 is still a big pile of bugs. Drivers aren't done for it, would avoid it like the plague. I reinstalled XP dual boot and all my windows 7 headaches vanished. Game runs faster too.

Oh I KNOW..... Pilfius turn off use confidence threshold. It's much more picky on figuring out stuff than most others. I had your same problem, then I shut that off, and it just worked.

Few tips needed for a beginner

LOL I stand corrected. thanks! ---------- Post added at 11:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 AM ---------- Explaining Post Process (Theory). Post processing effect in Arma2 is to simulate how your head moves in real life. The more you move the blurrier (blurry-er.... ok whatever) blurriness increases for that simulation. When you stop, and concentrate, then you focus in more which is simulated by things getting clearer. Also, I think Arma2 cheats in this area. If things are blurry a little, then we only have to render every other frame and then "fudge" the difference so it makes things smoother. Only when you stop does it start rendering every frame. Personally I play with post-p on High. I like the simulation effect of that happening. Another thing, don't be so quick to tighten up the Aiming dead zone. When prone, you can move the gun back and forth which doesn't move your body. I've noticed while sniping, if I don't move my body, the enemy has a harder time locking in on me. I leave mine really wide so when I go prone, I can still scan an area and not actually spin my body. Once I get my trackIR, then I'll tighten it up, cause I can just look like free look. Same subject: I use Free Look alot while out hunting. Same reasons as above. Once you get used to playing with post processing turned up, I think you'll like it, but I'm somewhat of a purest, and it helps in the immersion aspect. Something to watch for in other games. Boot up your latest game, then turn the gun and scan the horizon (slowly), notice the fish-eye lens effect? That's to help you not get sick while playing. It's to simulate the sides of your vision moving the view faster than your horizon. Earlier games (remember Wolfenstein 3D and the first doom? ) didn't have this. You would get motion sickness because everything turned at the same speed. If you have one of those earlier games, check it out... no fish-eye warping. Bet you never noticed huh?
  15. yeah man. Ever server I search online is loaded with Euro players. The US is still stuck on Quake 2 it seems.:(
  16. Ok, here's what we are going to try. You don't need to be in a clan to join my server. But if you act like a dilrod, moron, asshat, TK-er, dipshit, assmunch, whatever, I'll ban you. Plain and simple. But, if you play with respect, and play like a team, you're welcome to stay. It's not a high volume server, but if it goes well, I'll upgrade. Right now it's 20 slots, cause that's what my band width is maxed at. Send me a private Message Here, and I'll give you the location and password. Game on! Oh sorry, this is an East Coast - US Server.

    Which Arma1 do I want?

I have an Atari version of Arma that just bugs the crap outta me with the copy protection, so I now want to buy a new copy of Arma. What's the difference between Arma Armed Assault/Arma Gold. Let's do it this way. If I was going to purchase Arma 1 which version should I get? ---------- Post added at 02:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:07 AM ---------- Nevermind. I found a new copy of Arma Gold for $5.95 on Ebay. SCORE!
  18. Win you install Win 7 RC - It comes with Directx 11. It has some serious graphical glitches. Like I have a game that is old, but still fun that is Directx 8 and with Directx 10 it runs fine. Install win7 with DX 11 and it tears and stutters. ---------- Post added at 02:00 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:58 AM ---------- Really. Odd. That tends me to believe more in the firmware of the cards maybe more compatible with different OS's. I know I get a much smoother game with XP32 so I dual booted it. Just my observation on my little ass rig. ---------- Post added at 02:03 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:00 AM ---------- Yes, Directx does have something to do with it. The DX11 doesn't have full backward compatability. It's supposed to but doesn't. I've played two games both with Directx 8 requirement. Vista and Xp run it fine. DX11 gives errors, CTD's, and graphical tearing. Just because a version is one up, doesn't mean it's totally backward compatible. ---------- Post added at 02:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:03 AM ---------- Uh.... Arma2 is a 32 bit game. Even on Vista64 your 4Gig won't matter. Actually if you have more than 2Gig does it matter. On a 32 bit system, the memory above 2 gig is paged. Not 4.
  19. I've tested.. Vista 64 Windows 7 XP 32bit SP3. The winner, and by a large margin... XP XP will give a 30% better armamark2 score than both Vista and Windows 7. Actually Windows 7 ran the worst basically becasue Directx 11 sucks in it's current form.

Few tips needed for a beginner

Ok, first off, I did armamark2 benchmark, and here's my results. I have a little Athlon x2 4400+ that I've overclocked. 4Gig RAM, Nvidia 9800GTX+ Superclocked then overclocked some more. By all intense purposes, everbody says I should get 9 frames per second. Bah I say. Ok: with Vista 64 I got an Armamark2 bench of 1789.6 (that's the best I could push out of vista). Then I duel booted XP-32 and I now have an armamark2 score of 2299.74. I didn't change a thing, just ran XP32 bit. I then inserted another drive with Windows 7 RC, and the score actually was worse than Vista it was 1644.23. So first off XP is the clear winner. I"m curious, but it looks like you're playing on a laptop. I wouldn't do this. History has shown that laptops under perform. Next to a Desktop. Now with all that said, it's going to be up to you if arma is playable. I find it more than adequate at 25 - 35 FPS. I don't see what the big deal is because I have no problem playing while everybody is bitching and whining about "oh I have to have 50 fps minimum to be able to sleep at night." If you could install XP and run it from an XP box you'll see the performance jump up 10-30%
  22. I was fiddling around with my graphics drivers and downloaded Nvidia beta drivers 190.15. Played all morning everything was cool. I went in and messed with scenecomplexity and.... I go in and the screen is setup for 3D. Got a warning from Nvida that 3D performance hasn't been tested by Nvidia for the game. ... So I grabbed a cheap pair of 3D glasses I had for another game, and yup. It's 3D alright. can't get the convergence correct, but it's doing it. Now I can't get it back.
  23. Ok, if you hit SHIFT-T it will go into 3D. There is also a 3D editor in the game, but never read about it till trying to figure this out. But if I hit Shift-T to turn it off, it keeps coming back and can't perm turn it off. Is there a way of resetting everything back to default without reinstalling? ---------- Post added at 06:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:03 PM ---------- :j::eek::j::eek:

    Patch 1.02 Stability Survey

Well, I can tell you that DirectX 11 is full of bugs. I had graphics corruption in nearly every game while running Windows 7. I had to revert back to Vista 64. Remember Windows 7 is BETA and DirectX 11 is VERY Beta. If you check the Directx 11 Developers site, it's full of graphic corruption, bad sound, and anything that goes along with DirectX having severe problems. It doesn't surprise me that you're getting all this, because that's what many people are complaining about. The only games that seem to do ok, are the ones that run DirectX10 but any game that requires DirectX 9.x and earlier are messed up.

    Dedicated Server keeps crashing

This may sound silly, but you don't have anything running like an antivirus trying to update, or msn/yahoo.... in the background.
