There's more than one god out there ;-)

Could it be some kind of insect?

BI, you understand all the jokes about having huge bloom makes things realistic was a joke, right? That's cloth. Not a mirror. Other than that, that looks so cool.

Would you decrease detail for less lag?
Windexglow replied to Commonplace's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Arma 3 has confirmed gameplay. This causes lag, yet another poor design decision by bi. -
Bis is a company, with their own artists. Bis isn't an indie crew.

I'd be quite happen if loud noises deafened other sounds temporarily, enough to tell you that it's loud. You won't have huge differences in volume level for sounds in a game. A tank firing and a car door closing are going to be roughly the same volume ingame, and currently you'll hear both if they happen simultaneously.

I don't read a lot of the technical behind rendering, but I always thought refractions were done by rendering the full image out, than manipulating it through uv.

The problem is the crosshairs tend to be much better than iron sites.

Devs, how about... weekly updates! (Community poll inside)

Add some child porn in this topic and you won't be able to tell the difference between this and 4chan, folk. -
I think it needs to be a bit thicker to give iron sites some sort of advantage in precision.

Arma vehicle physics offers the greatest ability for the US to return to the moon and deep orbit.

It doesn't matter high the volume is, guns in arma2 feel wimpy. A car door closing and an m4 firing feel like the same loudness ingame. When a tank rolls past it doesn't feel loud, because I can still hear my footsteps. When a helicopter flies past it doesn't sound loud because I can hear beeping from it. I could turn my stereo headphones on full blast and make my ears bleed and the guns still wold not feel powerful.

Vertex normals are important. But so is a properly made normal map.

It's called hype. I'd love daily pictures and videos on arma3, but the excitement would wear off. -
You don't only need hp. If it was me, I'd split it into 2 major systems for health. Each limb has components to it (mass density, covering armor) along with smaller components inside. Each component would have density, mass percentage, and values like blood flow. An artery would have a low mass percentage, but a high blood flow. A bone has high mass percentage, and multiplies the force from the bullet. When a part is it, it also may hit sub-objects within it. The bigger the bullet, the higher the chance. Blood - Blood loss can be fixed in field, however bigger flows may be impossible or require medic. As player loses blood certain tasks (lifting, running) may be harder. Severe blood loss takes the player out of the fight. Destroyed Mass - the more severe and immediate effects. This is based on what the bullet hits, it's size, and velocity of it. Viewed more as a percentage for limbs, rather than hp. If you're in combat, the affect of being hit by a bullet would require more damage to have the same affect than if it came during safety. A small caliber shot in the arm may result in little damage, or it could cause total loss (hit a bone). I can dream.. Regardless, I hope arma3 has better indicators of where people are hurt, aside from "Can't walk" and a severe case of the hokey pokie.

TUNNELS? (Or at least some underground places)
Windexglow replied to PELHAM's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
AI already has a joyful time with bridges and enclosed areas :p Does arma terrain support some kind of face-deleting to even make this possible? -
How many polygons/faces and vertices will arma 3 handle?

Tessellation improves the model. It won't magically fix problems with it. -

People don't play arma mp to be competitive and look at points. What other uses for a ladder are there, aside from comparing yourself to others? Achievements also seem a bit odd, out of place. The rest, great information. -
Is ArmA 3 Futuristic? Yes. Realistic? Maybe.

Opinions. Mine is right, so shut up. -

Expect technical restraints from what arma2 has. -
realism == cover system to restore health.

To each their own, but its' hard to get into a game when guns don't sound dangerous.

The quality of animations is not a huge concern anymore. Blending and creating varied animations ingame has become more and more important, it makes things look far less mechanical.

Hey guys, guess what. Who likes who is up to them. Unless EA goes cheap on bf3, I'll probably buy it. And I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun with it. If I have 30 minutes to play a game, I'm not going to play arma. I'm going to play something that I'll have fun 1 minute into it.

What kind of Body Armor will be in the game? (if any)
