Well obviously he doesn't know what hes doing. I blindly followed this as my friend said it worked for him. I would really appreciate if someone could help me out on what to do. I don't have much knowledge on programming etc. so I was really confused by the six-updater. -

Hi I installed ACE 2 with this method: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0imM1RV-1k4 Because I could not figure out the six-suite installer thing. Now I realise there are updates being released every few days for ACE 2 and I am wondering how I update my ACE 2? And I still appear to be able to play on ACE servers even though I am not updated to the latest version. Please help me understand this. -
On multiplayer servers, I am getting an extremely dissapointing 18-25 FPS when grass is enabled.. I run everything at high except for terrain which is at normal. 1920x1080. I even backed my res back to 1440x880 and it did nothing for FPS. Changing settings does nothing either. I have: Q9550 @ 3.6ghz GTX 260 Superclocked 4Gb G.Skill Whats going on? Seriously, its getting really frustrating.

18 FPS when grass enabled?
GenghisKhan replied to GenghisKhan's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
if you want to learn how to overclock, go to www.overclock.net. I tried turning off AA... I get about 30FPS now.. A lot better.. But still LOTS of room for improvement. -
Because we all know recommended requirements are accurate, right? Look at it like this, minimum requirements are just enough to turn the game on, while recommended requirements will let you run the game at minimal FPS. When BIS finally optimizes the game a bit better, you will still be stuck at your shitty 25-40 FPS, while our "$4000" systems will be soaring past 60. Where did you pick that figure from anyways? Your ass? In the end, you should just stop bullshitting us. We know you're shitty computer doesn't run it as well as you are making out. This is unless or course, you have a 15 to 17 inch monitor. That would explain it.

While I agree most games out suck right now, I think you need to relax. The game is decent. I agree it pisses me off too, but give it time. Hopefully there will be some patches in the near future. If they fixed the fucked up lag problems in servers, the game would be good. Seems like every server I play in crashes after 20 minutes. I dont know if thats a problem with the servers themselves or the coding.

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
GenghisKhan replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
CPU is good, RAM is decent, Mobo could be better. -
Seriously.. A 64 x2???? what is that guy smoking. And 4850 is a mediocre graphics card, but that POS CPU still probably bottlenecks it. Im sick to death of people on here claiming their shitty systems can play it at a constant 50FPS maxed out when its simply just not true.

Overclocking your CPU can give drastic performance increases in game. Especially in a game as CPU intensive as Arma 2. Stop talking about what you don't know. And why would you need a 10,000RPM HDD? 7200 is plenty. The most 10K will do is speed up your loading times a bit. And I highly doubt you get 40-60 fps ALL the time. I get 45FPS average, but it has dropped to 20-25 in very intense situations before. My set up is: Q9550 @ 3.5Ghz GTX 260 Core 216 700/1490/1075 (Performs better than my friends stock 280) 4Gb OCZ Blade 500gb 7200 Seagate XP

I am getting ridiculous FPS drops, tons of lag, and generally choppy gameplay... I have a: Q9550 @ 3.5Ghz 4Gb OCZ Blade GTX 260 Core 216 @ 700/1490/1080 XP 32 bit 1920x1080 Full version patch 1.02.5 I have most things set to high, Terrian to normal, vid mem on very high, postprocessing to low. I have turned physx off in Nvidia CP, I have done everything I can think of. Shouldnt my computer be able to handle this? I get an Avg of like 45 FPS in a field, and when I go into cities I get a ridiculous 15-20 FPS. This is all multiplayer btw. And I get a ridiculous amount of studdering when flying over large cities. And, when I zoom in with a scope, my FPS also drops dramatically. I cant understand this.. Is this normal? Does the game just need to be optimized? Not to mention the ridiculously slow loading textures. I love the gameplay, but I wish it just ran better. Whats going on? thanks.

I Dont understand why....

My CPU isnt overheating... I get like 50 under load... I have checked while playing Arma 2. As for object detail, I have tried every possible combo of settings. ^ If you are getting 30FPS on a i7 and a 295 then i dont feel so bad. 30 FPS seems LOW for your system.. Thats what I usually get. -

^ what drivers are you on? and what resolution/settings? I am on 185 drivers and I have a clean copy of windows installed/reformatted a week ago. -
hm. I wasnt trying to, but I went into nvidia CP and noticed it wasnt set to application controlled.. This seems to have fixed it. Thanks. :) The textures still load really slow though... Any way to fix that?
-
What is with this? everyone once and a while the trees will flash white as if they have snow on them. Then they change back. Really annoying... Any fix for this?
-
I just reformatted/clean installed windows the other day so its not my HDD. And it seems like it takes some time for textures to load when playing multiplayer. When I first spawn, there will be big blocks and pylons... Its really annoying.. My system (if it matters) is as follows: Q9550 @ 3.5 Ghz GTX 260 Superclocked Core 216 4Gb OCZ platinum XP 32 bit play at 1920x1080

Literally can't hit the broadside of a barn...
GenghisKhan replied to Shyzar's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Well if its not the above, then try aiming higher. Arma 2 has bullet drop which is very noticable over 800-1000 meters. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:M855_drop_during_25-meter_zeroing_trajectory_M16A2_M4.jpg -
I assume they have to try and balance the game. If the load out on the A-10 is 4 x AGM Mavericks then it pretty much gives you 4 x guaranteed hits. The hydras are pretty useful if you know how to use them. And as stated, the GAU-8 is the primary weapon on the A-10. If you are skilled, you can take out pretty much anything with it. And the sidewinders are there obviously to give the A-10 some A to A ability.

People need to post their resolutions along with their specs. Id say if you are running it at 1280x1024 you should get a decent 40 FPS on normal/high settings. Will dip in large cities. If you are on a high res like 1920x1200 your VRAM may be a weak link For comparison, I run at 1920x1080 on high settings and get 40-50 FPS. Specs: Q9550 @ 3.5 Ghz GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked @ 700/1490/1075 4Gb OCZ Blade XP 32 bit -
So after playing online for a while, I seem to be getting an increase of CTD's. It will usually happen when something is about to happen (i.e. got one today RIGHT before i got shot). It will just crash to desktop and give me the usual "send error report" message from windows. It is really annoying me and I cant play online for more than an hour or so without this happening... Any ideas?

So whenever I am in or flying very close to a large city, i get massive studdering and buffer spikes.. Plus my FPS will drop to like 20ish. what is the deal? I have: Q9550 @ 3.5Ghz GTX 260 Core 216 @ 700/1475/1070 2Gb OCZ Gold RAM XP 32 bit 24 Inch Acer I run at Textures: High Vid Mem: High Filtering: Normal Terrain: normal Object detail: high Shadows: High HDR: Low at 1920x1080 res. View distance is only at 2000. I dont understand why I get this studdering!!! its really annoying... Can anyone help?
