You could still buy 44/45 plus additional boats as DLC i would reckon. Milking it for what it's worth. Speaking of worth ... after seeing the first preview pics of SH5 my decision not to buy the title was already made, even before they were blowing the ballast tanks on that DRM Kraken. Why should i pay for my textures.

On my first run i lost Legion and Jack. Both were not loyal.

snippets from ubisoft OSP Q&A: ... nice. I especially like the last one. The honesty in all this is just heart warming. :D ---------- Post added at 10:01 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 AM ---------- Not in context with piracy .. but reselling, give-away, etc. If all activations are used up, i bet you could buy a new set. Customer service :D.

They should have scrapped this title and instead focus on colonial marines. To me this is a simple FPS - Tekken with guns and aliens, just like the movies.

I sincerely hope you'll be proven wrong, though looking at Anno, makes me believe otherwise. Seeing how publishers are willing to alienate an established fanbase, does speak volumes about the market and where it is heading to. b0yEo0UdKJs

Somehow reminds me of the Derelict on LV 426 (Alien Movie). For the 3rd installement i also hope for more exploration. Currently, aside of primary and secondary quests, the systems feel somewhat empty. btw. Don't know if anyone noticed, they have some well made character feature movies up:

BIS: It's already time to FIX the M136!!!
TangoRomeo replied to ricnunes's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Just marketing spin. :) Some simulation aspects have been added by the community, but generally it was, and is, a tactical shooter at it's core. -
A simple game and not much fun with squad heavy weapons
TangoRomeo replied to Katrician's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
When placing 2 opposing Inf groups in the editor, facing each other at about 300m - they just stand there. This is with w/o any mods, 1.05. -
Just for audio conversion: dBpoweramp Music Converter (dMC)

I really enjoyed it. Quite a cinematic experience with an epic plot, not as huge as Dragon Age ... albeit emotionally more involving imho. I really felt attached to the characters, mostly because you get to know them and their backgrounds pretty well while pursuing the storyline, which is all about assembling a team and taking them on what seems like a lost mission from the start. Can't find anything negative about it, other than what pufu already wrote. This game would have done equally well with less shooting, and more conversation/ exploration. Going to have a 2nd run - just to see what i missed out on the first.

New Sound Mod in the making, slowly but surely
TangoRomeo replied to chammy's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Lowering volume/ audible distance of the emitter do help somewhat, but are no solution to audio engine limitations. It´s especially noticeable when running without HW accelleration and EAX (Vista) - goes for any A2 soundmod. On another note, an equal immersion killer is that sound frequencies hardly get affected while travelling, if no occlusion occurs by an object. All freq bands appear to propagate energy equally well over distance - at least on Vista. I.e. if an AR sample has a discreet click in it, originating from the firing mechanism, the player will hear this click even at max audible distance. So you can either have a sample that sounds appropriate when near the emitter (high freq), or when further away (low freq). Not both. Until the audio engine gets an update, we either fight treble wars, paintball skirmishes (plopp - plopp), or something inbetween. -

When writing "killing a tank" you are probably referring to a catastrophic kill - if so, wouldn´t this primarily depend on hit location, given the round succeeds to penetrate? See : The Chechnya Experience . -
HiFi - Single Sound Modules (Weapons BETA released!!)
TangoRomeo replied to Mark XIII (DayZ)'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Good job - nice pack overall! Could you have a look at the VSS config; drySound[] ={"\HiFi_VSS\VSS_Dry",0.000316228,1,1900}; reloadMagazineSound[] ={"\HiFi_VSS\VSS_Reload",0.0562341,1,1900}; must be a typo. (i´ve got good results setting reload and dry sounds for small arms at 0.1,1,20 ± 10) -
TR Soundmodules: Fixed/Rotary Wing AC & Tracked/Wheeled Vehicles
TangoRomeo replied to TangoRomeo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
@kroky noted. Expect a .hpp with the next release. @DevilBass Ty! - got carried away messing with the editor and movie maker. Future previews will be more to the point, ... i promise :D. Some time ago i was messing with weapon sounds, but stopped working on it. With some big packages incoming from HiFi/Chammy, i´ve not decided whether or not to complete it. -

Call me paranoid, but i have everything "autoupdate" disabled on my system. Any chance to get this the "oldschool" way? Sounds like alot of work Maybe some time in the future. :) -

TR Soundmodules: Fixed/Rotary Wing AC & Tracked/Wheeled Vehicles
TangoRomeo replied to TangoRomeo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
I used a different sample and .cpp settings this time. For a temporary workaround volume can be adjusted by modifying the multi - volume = "1.5*engineOn*camPos*(rpm factor[0.3, 1])"; to a higher value. Location: class T72_Base: Tank >>> class EngineHighOut Package is binarized, you´ll need .pbo/ .bin tools, i.e. Kegetys' ArmA Tools -
Supply and demand. More likely to find a crack for a popular title than a niche product - it's software after all. I don't think UBI protects their own network with just SW "firewalls" either. Rise of Flight has a similar DRM implementation. I heard it will be removed.

Subsim Diskussion also Ubisoft Drops PC DRM, Takes Everything Online What are they trying to accomplish with crapola DRM schemes like this anyway - other than drive away potential customers.

HiFi - Single Sound Modules (Weapons BETA released!!)
TangoRomeo replied to Mark XIII (DayZ)'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yupp. ATM only HiFi is broken up into per/unit sample pbo`s. @ Mark, looking forward to HiFi final, the vehicle weapons (GAU-8/AIM-9/AGM-65 ...) are already a keeper. Good job on these  -
People do this all the time. As long as they don't go commercial, or take credit, i don't see an issue. On another note, i was quite surprised to find that parts of a texture mod, i did for another game, now seems to have found it's way into a successor to that title. Not that anyone would have asked me. Guess the least i could expect of them is a free copy, or make that better 2.

That would be nice indeed. I pretty much look at it the same way.

Vanilla, anything without iron sights or hws. Wish they would change the monstrous reticle on the latter to something more like this: http://video.google.de/videoplay?docid=-6171484737767746207&hl=de&emb=1# Preferably with adjustable brightness.

OFP2 let me down; I'm hoping Arma2 won't be the same.
TangoRomeo replied to cmberryau's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
OFP2 - What the devs made it and force fed the player. ArmA 2 - Cook your own. There are still some issues with ArmA2, but support is there, and the potential only restricted by the communitys imagination.
