not sure which forums to post this in but... has any one else noticed that your squad (or maybe even you yourself) sometimes make strange groaning/moaning noises ? it is a bit confusing cause at first i thought it meant that we are under fire and some one is getting hit (silencers maybe??). any one know if i can disable this?

does any one have a profile yet for the x52 ? maybe even an old one from arma 1? dont think the control scheme has changed much. thanks in advance.

i was told to go to dressler and i want to take the starforce transport. i m in the helo but how do i activate it. or cant i use it at this stage? i checked all the other posts re starforce but nothing is working. can some one give a step by step guide? i had the option activate transport which i did but no go :( also .. every time i try to get in one of my guys gets stuck on the tail rotor and i have to manually get him in using teamswitch. if this was realistic i think they d all be chopped up by the rotor by now :D first time i boarded he would actually start the engine. now,... nothing. EDIT: ah, i got it. i had to get out, use space > kommunikation > transport that would do an "extraction" on the helo pad he was sitting on. once he asked "where to?" i could simply left click the map ... psyduck EDIT2: awesome. starforce crashed into a forest. :(

waypoints. how do i make AI stick to the roads?

i tried searching but couldnt find anything. i m trying to make a mission but already at the setup i am failing. the ai always goes cross country, even if i place the waypoints exactly on the roads. even if the next waypoint is only 100m away they will go off the road zick zack and then back on it. i thought maybe it is like the issue move to command in SP but the APC always prefers cross country. is there an option that i m not seeing? its quite the immersion breaker :( also the more waypoints i place the more the whole thing is less of a convoy and more of a stop and go :( -
following problem... 90% of the time i die to something that i have not even seen. i guess i m not alone with this and the fact that AI does not have to stand up to shoot through vegetation is one part but the other ... what are your tips and tricks to better situational awareness? i always proceed cautiously, i scan whats ahead of me, i move slowly if there is the slim chance of enemies about, i use the map to check for anything red (bit unrealistic but so be it). what other tricks are there. it is so bad sometimes that i know i m being shot at, i can figure out the rough direction it is coming from but still i can not see it :(

never found the waepon smuggler either. wasnt required to complete the campaign though. make sure you acctually read the notes and you should find everything.

i think your syntax is wrong. for the flare it should be _unit fire ["GP25Muzzle","GP25Muzzle","FlareRed_GP25"]; thats how it worked for me iirc -
some really good mapping ideas in that link. cheers. one part i disagree on though is that leaning/rolling is less important. especially rolling left right is absolutely essential for me. 1. to get save 2. to roll flat the grass infront of you so you acctually see something :D

just do yourself a favour and dont do the tutorial missions unless they are fixing it in the upcoming patch. i did them and left them more confused than educated :D i think i died 4 times on the heavy weapons range and to this day i dont know why :D -
reveal target only works if you are squad command though, doesnt it? i have had good results in the SP campaign my problems are/were more with MP Coop. i guess i just have to get more team work going on the servers i play. i guess you all know these situations were one AI takes out 5 or 6 people in a row and every one on TS just goes "WTF, where is the guy" i found the best thing to do in such a situation is to come back as the door gunner on the huey and blast the little shit from up high :D (given that you have taken care of the shilkas and tunguskas :D )

fire definately works. just need to be sure that you initialise the unit with a weapon that can shot flares and with flares in the inventory. i ve created a few squads that throw smoke grens on to cover themselves while crossing a field. it looks awesome, eventhough the dotarget or dowatch doesnt seem to work too well for this. you also need to make sure that your unit is not running/spriting. they need to walk or stand still in order to shoot the flare. -
i acctually have a triple head 2 go but i m missing the third monitor (in for repairs). :D

thats what i find myself doing already. the frustration knows no bounds though if after 15 minutes of crouching tiger hidden soldier all you hear is pop and thats it. especially when you scanned every square inch on a 180 degree angle for the next 2 kilometers ahead :D i think i will switch back to the red dot settings to give me a fighting chance :)

ended up ordering from the US. worked it out that with the cheap dollar i m still better of buying from the US than from CH. the trackir without click is almost 100CHF more than US. factoring in the gst and import tax this comes cheaper still. EU with the stronge Euro and rather strong Pound was not an option. at least not for Switzerland.

what about the difference between strafe and roll though. there are different mappings for those (not turning with tailrotor). what does this model. i dont think i have seen this control axis before in flight sims and i m not sure which one is the correct one to use. roll or strafe.

how to check if a certain unit is within triggerarea ?

i ve been trying to get this to work for a while now but nothing works. i have a trigger that is activated by blufor present. i only want the trigger to execute stuff though when a certain AI unit is present within that area. or rather, i want that unit to trigger it but without grouping unit and trigger. can this be done via a condition check rather than grouping? -
personally i m using a joystick but as you can remap every thing to your hearts content you can create the exact same mapping you were using in BF2. there is acctually an extra control axis i think. so it is nose up/down to gain and bleed speed. strafe/bank left right spin left right engine throttle to go up / down in hover and roll left/right <--- not sure what exactly the difference between bank and roll is.. some one enlighten me please

she would get into the chopper no worries. i didnt disembark the APC though and trashed all of napa first. seems to be random bug then.

ok so it seems that fade is somehow activated. (i got the degrade warning occasinally on MP servers, not always, but sometimes). I want to know. how can i verify that fade has kicked in? is there a registry entry, a log file, ... any thing of that kind so that i can know for sure. I dont get the degrade message when playing single player. my copy was bought and paid for via petergames online shop. i dont use virtual cd drives although daemon tools was installed on this machine at some stage. i m paranoid now as it was the first time i bought from that peters stuff and i hope i didnt get ripped off there. (no point arguing piracy please because i have the bank statement to proof that i paid for the game)
