Hi, from release to now AA2 performance has increased significantly (also due to newer nvidia drivers). Still I never get above 25-30 fps online no matter how many player no matter if highest or lowest gfx settings. What's the cause of this ? I have a 2x4GHZ E8500. I really don't see what is limiting the performance...

One issue: Whenever the viewdistance is changed the post processing effect is deactivated. One has to make a roll on the ground to activate it again. -
Hi, is it possible to manually enable this blur effect (i.e when doing a roll while prone) ? I mean that effect that looks similar to decreasing the render resolution, which makes everything a little blurry.

didn't know ofp2 was that limited in content, still it was expectable as it runs on a xbox 360 which has very limited hardware capabilities so in multiplayer you only have 4km² and it is impossible to for example start at a base, than fly 5 km and drop in warzone...

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3151/2751495802_38924d8bb2.jpg it's not just 4km², it's more like chernaurus where did you red 2x2 km ? that would be like.... utes ?

I doubt that. Why would a game have such a large world when it's just empty and dead in missions.
-
No it's just console compatible. The graphics are more like Battlefield than AA2... But that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Hi, Gamestar (large[st] German PC gaming magazine) reviewed OFP2. The test is not yet available but some information were leaked and posted on ofp2.info: http://www.operationflashpoint2.info/news.php - the engine obviously cannot handle more than 40 different units at a time (freeze) - overall score: 78% - most aspects were 8/10, story 4/10 - campaign is boring and way too short - excellent hardcore mode - excellent AI, almost like real human players, sometimes stupid - vegetation not destructable - strong editor (whatever that means compared to AA2) So I guess OFP2 will not at all have the possibilities of AA2 but it might have better gameplay, might contain less bugs and might be really fun to play. Realism depends on the current setting. Still it needs a community to offer enough content after release. The 40 unit limit could be a bug (possibly fixed when released) or could be a real limit. Then I don't know how the large map could be used to full extent. 40 units are just embarrasing. *edit* I forgot something: OFP2 has excellent framerates and highly optimised graphics.

Random enemies - any scripts yet ?
Armin2 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
Are DAC or CEP already ported into ArmA 2 ? Or is there something similar ? I found a very basic dynamic AI script here: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=6053 -
I believe the fps dropped quite a bit but now that I already installed 1.03 I can't check that. Could someone who hasn't installed 1.03 yet run ArmaMark before/after patching, and maybe run a test in the editor ?

What do I have to change in the .sqs to make VFFPS work in airborne mode ? (sometimes I get too low fps while flying) -
What variable do I have to change to make VFFPS work in airborne mode ? (sometimes I get too low fps while flying)

Hi, I am looking for a script/ logic/ addon that does only the following thing: - If fps drop below x, reduce viewdistance as much as needed - If fps is above y increase viewdistance up to c Maybe something to smoothen the process. There is a tool called FPSSaver but it first decreases the terrain detail which is not what I desire.
-
Is it possible to dynamically adjust the viewdistance in the following way: - If fps drop below x, reduce viewdistance as much as needed - If fps is above y increase viewdistance up to c Thx!

Thanks a lot but does tglocked do the same as setting them manually to normal. Where could I find the normal settings for tglo/hi ? Thx!

There is a bug: When using VFFPS the blur effect is deactivated every few minutes unless you lay down and roll. This happens on all effect settings. -
... and still having massive performance problems. Before I had a HD4850 which is about 50% slower than a GTX 275. The rest of my system is: 2x4GHZ E8500, 4GBRam, Win7 64 So now I get around 30 FPS in Elektrowhateverthatowniscalled and in the woods with everything set to high except shadows and 1200m view range. The engine is sooo badly optimized. I can't find any significant fps boost. In every other game I have about 60% more fps.

Scripting/ Editing example collection thread
Armin2 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
I suggest to collect all example missions in one thread. That would give everyone the ability to just download and copy a certain feature in their mission. Rules: Only 1 specific feature at a time so it can be copied into your own mission. Make it nub friendly. ------------------------------------------------------- Heli Insertion example: Feature: A Heli drops you off and then dissapears Usage: Just copy all the units/ waypoints in your mission Download: http://www.file-upload.net/download-1688058/Simple-20Heli-20Insertion.utes.7z.html ------------------------------------------------------- HaloJump w/o mapclick by Cyborg11 @ German Gamers Club: Feature: The player chooses a point on the map and drops there @ 1000m height Usage: Just copy all units/ triggers into your mission. Don't forget the marker.Don't forget to copy the halojump.sqs into you mission folder. Download: http://www.g-g-c.de/forum/showthread.php?p=107093 ------------------------------------------------------- Artillery support for the player: Feature: MLRS support available via radio. Usage: Just copy all the units/ triggers/ etc. into your mission. Use the radio (support) ingame. Setting Texture Quality to High Performance also adds some fps. Visual quality seems to be the same (almost). -

I always buy low resolution average latency monitors because of the better performance and the tearing that covers microstuttering. -

Before complaining at least try these settings: InGame: http://www.pic-upload.de/view-2424480/Unbenannt.jpg.html (btw. "Sehr Hoch" means Very High) in .cfg check if refresh is @ your monitors default put hdr to 32 check if render is at 100% use -maxmem=2047 -cpuCount=2 in Forceware V190: pre render = 8 Vsync = OFF use defragmentation tools This gives me 35-60 fps in the craziest situations and makes the game fully playable. And I only payed 700€ for my rig. C2D 2x3.8GHZ GTX 275 4GBDDR2 WinXP -

There is ONE ARGUMENT you can't deny when it comes to critizising ArmA 2: If I just install it and don't optimise anything I get around 20 fps less in all scenes as if fully tweaked. On a console the tweaking has already been done for you. In most PC games it is also optimized. But in ArmA 2 I can only guess if my hardware is properly used.
