  1. @electricleash Awesome tool mate. I gonna check out the demo when i am done with my current island. The current one is using L3DT and that is an awesome product itself. This might give other possibilties. Who knows, i am realy curious in this area. cheers for reporting!
  2. Congrats on the release mate! Awesome work!
  3. Expanded my island with a woodcutters area. Idea's are welcome for a rural area where nature is still in control
  4. --crap my error, wrong forum thread by me guys, had it open and thought i had the other open. My apologize! Cool pics there ice!
  5. We needed more pumpkin soup is it. But first some farmer had to be workin on :) http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/5311/arma22009101410263636.png -> this one is before placing the farm :) http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/9022/arma22009101323034842.png When ever i can get my hands on that statue i will place it in the majors house, he loves stone(d) people! When all finished i shall work on this dude: http://www.hln.be/static/FOTO/pe/17/11/11/art_large_401126.jpg I heard he is the lead of all resistance!
  6. Its 2 but not as you say. YOu set a max draw distance for clutter and fading away is engine based.
  7. Some pics of the island i am working on.

    Making Islands Help!

Try to read before posting would be my first advice in this matter.
  9. This must be the first time i see somebody complain about not enough weapons;) At 6thsense people are like magnets to the weaponcrate like kids in a candy store if the lead does not boot them out. Less weapons, thats it man!
  10. Nice dude! Good luck. L3DT Tropical climate (default) i see here lol. right?
  11. As i gave the island to a few guys to test my terrain i got reports of weird lod issues. Above i have 3 pictures where i slowly buildup the terrain details from lowest to heigh. The LOD issues disappear when it goes up. YOu guys have any idea what i can do about it except making i gues less complex terrain?
  12. Get on skype with me bad benson, we talk it through ok.
  13. Yeah its an ok detail level. However giving a 1.0 m /pixel is just a one click in l3dt. I been goofing around with settings and what i had with the settings he gives is weird overlapping segments on some area's of the map. Just want to prevent him from getting headaches. But its a free world man 1 pixel/m 25 pixel/m i think i did not even talk about that.
  14. Just for the record, do it get this right? Your input-> Terrain grid size 2048*2048 Terrain Cell Size 5m Sat Grid: 8192 -> Giving 2048 x 5 = about 10 km x 10 km island? -> Above gives a 10240 pixel size -> Your sat map is 8192, so its smaller then ur island? Not realy recommanded. -> May i recommand setting texture size to 40x40 meter instead of the 80? -> What is your horizontal scale in L3DT? You did set that up in the beginning. If you took default its 10. Assuming your island size in L3DT matches the one ingame as else you will get "weird" generated stuff if you consider size. since the horizontal scale in L3DT is about the same as the terrain cell size i would make sure they kinda look the same. Maybe you can go with the following: - Terrain grid size 1024*1024 - Terrain Cell Size 10m - Sat Grid 10240 * 10240 (high res texture generation) - Texture size 40 x 40 meter As i am totaly not an expert in this matter but have been goofing around already for quite a while with l3dt and lod issues in arma i thought i share ya my noobish knowledge which might be corrected by the masters down under here :D
  15. ================== Hey guys, Well the lod issues are indeed gone but i still have some weird stuff going on in the map. I have a road going realy nice down hill (its a mountain) and that looks smooth. However when i go to a distance and put it on lowest terrain settings it looks like a road to hell. I mean spiky up and spiky down. There are no visible lod issues. Currently using a terrain of 512 (png file) x 10 and a 40x40 texture setting, using a sat map of 5120x5120. That (i think) is pretty common practise. Is the above behavior happening on more islands? Also far on teh south it looks like one of the by visitor created segments of the satmap is not in place or simple looks incredible blue. Maybe that is a related issue. I know pics say more then words but i am at work atm. Anyway, my above situation might ring a bell to some people.
  16. Still need to check ingame but congrats on your awesome island mate! Check out the map editor forum part for the lod issues :)
  17. Its indeed not that hard to simple make a winter texture for the map. Infact if that would be the job anybody with L3DT tool would be able to reskin a map in 2,5 hour. The job is: you need frozen clutter, roads, plants, trees, houses etc etc. If somebody is willing to deliver me that, i can produce any map in winter texture. I aint unique in that or specialy talented, any mapmaker with a generating texture tool will be able to do that then.

    Opinions on Island

--Forget this question, i realised that this is totaly offtopic question to the op.
  19. Hey guys, As i am busy making an island in 2 skins (summer and winter) i realy need some modeller able to make the pond's (the water objects) into ice. So that would be reskin and i gues material setting or something. If somebody is willing to help me on that that would be pretty sweet as i totaly lack the knowledge in that are. Not even sure if it can be done. Cheers, Spirit
  20. Cheers to the maker! This request is done, nice ice ponds :)
  21. I am working in this area, atleast i think so. Currently making a small 5 x 5 km island based on terrain like the scottish highlands. Still have a lot of work in that area so dont hold your breath here. For me its a fun project. This weekend few people tested my terrain for lod issues etc. One of them made a youtube. Shows a bit of the terrain. yeah yeah horrible music :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_cvvBQGdPo
  22. Would be enough for me mate, as long as it looks like ice and can hold stuff. I gues breaking ice is to much to ask, so for all i care it can hold the titanic if it fell from the moon to planet earth right on the ice-spot;)

Nice terrain dude! Like the erosion in it.
  24. Well it will never show more then is possible on a bigger map. But i get the idea, heigher demand with same view distance -> performance crap. Its got also vertical so its not that much of a prob so far. hehe yeah i got parts of pc all over but building a low end pc no no sir:p I been reading in a 16384 sat map and gave that to people. Its 250 mb after binning. We tested some MP games on it, including JIP. Even the low ends had no performance problems, so i am going for this direction atm. We tried it out in a forrested part of the map, usualy one of the biggest fps eaters. But time will tell, if its problematic its not that hard to just simple read in a lower quality sat map :D
  25. Yeah for editing itself i have at the moment my old texture still 5120. so far ingame it did not have any performance issues on the bigger one. But i have a beast of a machine. so i gues i can give it to somebody with a low end comp and check it out. I am realy curious in this direction as this would give higher detail ingame. Overall that gives higher enjoyment i think. Ofcourse with a size 20 x 20 km this would go over insame. Still i am thinking the atleast a 2 times larger file for this size islans gives already realy nice details and compromises a bit on file size. Not sure yet, as said, i am merely sharing experience here. So all experience from you guys is more then welcome.
