Just wanted to let you know we couldn't get your mission to work tonight. We had everyone in, downloaded the file and such, and when it would have brought us to the mission briefing it kicked us back to the mission selection. We are running the dev build.

Setting up a Server - Files from Steam - No Server EXE

I have a quick question. Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. I have my dedicated box all setup and good to go. I Installed Steam on there to download ArmA II and OA and did that. They are both installed as if I was going to play them. This is what I have for patches downloaded: ArmA II Patch 105 ArmA II Patch 105-111 ArmA II OA Patch 160 ArmA II OA Beta 93160 To install the patches though, I need to run the game/server once to create the registry files. Is that correct? If so, this is where I am lost. I can't run the game to create the registry files because it is a server box. I just get X3DAudio1_6.dll is missing, and it won't launch. I also can't run the server because I have no server EXE. And I can't add the -server command because I don't have a disk... What do I do...? Also, if I need different patches, I would appreciate it if you pointed me in the correct direction. Thanks. -

Where do I find these downloads again? I went back a few pages and they all just say REMOVED. Also, thanks for the info on how to get all the weapons and vehicles on Takistan.

Yeah. I found it more useful anyway if everyone just commands their own AI. I up the starting cash so that everyone can afford to. You should give it a try, much more enjoyable.

First off, my friends and I have pretty much been strictly Warfare BE (or variants of) players since we started ArmA 1. We tried a few missions last night and didn't hate them. So, I was wondering if you guys could provide a list of missions you would really recommend? Maybe some good 2 player COOP's, 4 player COOP's, and then like 4-10 player COOP's? We played Hell of a Zargabad by Kelly's Heroes last night. Like I said, we didn't hate it. Some things were a little confusing like how to actually defuse IED's and such. Other than that though, it was pretty good. Anyway, I am open to any recommendations. Thanks.

There are a TON of missions in the user missions section. How on earth would I know which ones are good or bad? I was asking for recommendations on some good ones to get us going... I have gone through a few pages of missions, we played two. Hell of a Zargabad and some zombie mission. Anyway, if anyone else has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Well, the title pretty much explains it all. I can't play anything using Lingor Island. I added Lingor, I set up the mod line for it. I did everything as instructed. I join the server and select the mission. I click on Lingor Island for the map. I select the mission file (in this case, warfare BE) and click go. It then says "wait for host" and kicks me back into that same menu again. I don't know if it will help, but here is section of the .RPT file. We turn off the AI squads completely an run 30+ AI per player. That way, we have full control. Plus, it seems to make the server run 1000x better. We have all the reinforcements on (resistance and occupation), patrols on, track ai on map OFF, UPSMON on, assault teams 2, all the ai and reinforcements set to hard, patrols on 2. I think that is all the relevant stuff. I think the big thing was turning off the auto controlled AI. To us they are pretty much useless. They never actually capture towns or anything. Also, for the most part, we split into teams of 2 or 3 and took towns. This meant that it kept a ton of AI from spawning in a bunch of towns. Most we saw were 7-8 active towns at a time if that makes sense.

Low Ping Game Servers. After reading comments on the forums about what host to use, I had two choices. LPGS or Jest. Both had good reviews. I plan on hosting quite a few servers in the future, so I contacted both companies. Both were quick to respond. At this point, I am with LPGS. The only reason I started with them is because they were half the price of Jest. So far support answered all of my pre-sale questions, server installation questions, and mod extraction requests in a very timely fashion. We have been running Warfare BE ACE with everything cranked AI wise. The server has been running butter smooth. We just did a 4v4/6v6 with people coming and going. 15 hours of people capturing towns and recapturing other towns. Server ran pegged at 50 FPS constantly. I can only recommend them.

Hey Shadow. When my friends and I used to play the old Warfare BE a lot (last year'ish), this was a problem. We noticed it happening when they server had been running for hours and the server FPS got low. A lot of weird things started happening when server FPS got low (respawning without weapons, not getting your menus, respawning on the island in the corner).

Is there anything special I have to do? Disable any parts of ACE or make Blastcore take priority over ACE with a command line? Sorry for the questions. I am just so lost now.

I have been out of the whole ArmA "scene" for over a year now. From what I gather, I cannot use Blastcore and ACE together?

Well, I am at a loss. I was all excited that with my new PC I would be able to run ArmA II: OA at high settings. To my dismay, this is not so. First off, I will list my PC specs. 2600K @ 4.8Ghz 2x 6870's OC'ed 8GB DDR3-1866 2x Crucial SSD's RAID 0 (ArmA installed here) I am running Combined Arms with ACE. Last night playing Warfare BE, I was getting between 40-60FPS at best. These are the settings I was running at. I don't know what I can do at this point. Any lower settings and the game will look like ARMA 1. I know the cards only have 1GB of video memory, but still. The other thing that sucks is I have two additional monitors on their way to run in eyefinity. The way it is now, I won't be able to run the game at all. Hopefully someone can shed some light on what is going on.

If/when you get that fixed, we plan to have a good game CTI tonight. It may be a little late for you (9PM EST), but it should be pretty fun. There will be 8-11 of us on then. You and anyone else here is welcome to join in. It's only a 14 slot server though...

Well, some interesting notes. Tonight played really well. 2v2 as we were short players. Server never budged from 50FPS. We had a hell of a time taking any towns. Some towns took 20 minutes to crawl into and take the first camp! First off, we had a problem. No matter what setting we chose for the HQ spawn near town, we would always spawn within fire range of a town. I was killed twice before I could even get in the HQ. Next problem was with the ACE wounds and stamina. We had both off. However, we still had access to the backpack and would still black out when running or getting shot. This next thing isn't really a problem, but more of an inconvenience and balancing issue. US side gets the M24 Sniper right away. Opfor has nothing with a scope right away. My friend and I played Opfor tonight and without a sniper it was VERY VERY difficult to attack the first town or so. Is there any way you can add a equally crappy sniper as the M24 to the Opfor side right away? Also, before I forget, do you have any plans to adapt the other BE islands to BE ACE? There are quite a few good islands that I (and I assume many others) would love to play. Just ACE, but that was running the night before. And yes, I did disable and had everyone disable the Ace SM.

Question for you JSRS users. Does JSRS effect FPS performance client side when installed on a server? People on my server complained of much worse (slowly degrading actually) FPS last night as compared to the night before without JSRS. I know it makes absolutely no sense, but that is ArmA for you.

Thanks so far. I de-pbo'ed the mission and ran it through the Warfare BE "Parameter Editor" to get that chunk of parameters. Didn't actually know where to look for the file itself. The aiGroupSizePlayer never actually came into effect during either mission. The most any player had was 10ish. I set it so high because the previous night we ran 12 per player and the server was running so well we figured why not. Where do you get 070? The bottom of the OP's thread links me to 069. Thanks again so far. I am really looking forward to getting all of this running to the point where we can just join the server, play, and not have to worry about anything.
