    Blurry textures

I was getting the same thing too but setting video memory to default fixed it. I believe "Very high" caps it too 512mb.

    [SP] SOCOM: Prelude V 1.0

Yeah I might have an old version of Panthera tho. I will download the latest version tonight and disable any other mods and try it again. EDIT Ok I narrowed it down. It seemed Isla Duala was making it CTD. Nice intro btw, looking forward to play this later.

    [SP] SOCOM: Prelude V 1.0

It seems to crash to desktop for me without a warning message. Anyone else getting this or is it just me?

    Badlands

I'm kinda still stuck near the end, I’ve capped all towns and watched the cutscene at novy sobor and after that I’ve no idea what to do. It says all the tasks are complete. Am I missing something? *EDIT* Nevermind I just used to skip level cheat, I've repeated badlands over three times lol.

    Multiple crashes in Badlands

Same here, I've spent hours on that badlands level and enough is enough, Sick of CTD with that "HC press 2 error". Anyway back to user made missions :p

    The informants: Manhattan

How long did you wait? I had to wait for about 5 minutes for the helicopter to arrive to extract her.

    Arma 2 like Project Reality?

Don’t mean to be an ass but have you played PR? PR is well established within the modding community not because it’s some mod living off the bf2 engine or won awards from moddb but because its defined itself through its features and a strong community. PR is a well off online multiplayer from the get go, its easy to get into, join a squad and have a mic and your set. No need to join a clan, organize teamspeak or download mods. As for ArmA 2 the online isn’t the greatest but i'd imagine it would be once ACE is up and running for ArmA 2 and community made mods. Both are great online mil sim games but trying to establish which is better than the other is pointless. Both are unique and have potential to do great things.

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

Try lower your view distance down.

    ArmA 2 Demo feedback

Im quite pleased with the results, I've set everything on very high with AA disabled, fillrate 100%, view distance set at 3.6 km and running at 1680x1050 with average of 38 fps. The Demo is great, its got more than enough content to keep you busy even if it is a demo. Thanks BI for the demo! ;)

    Steam version, moddable?

    Read the steam faq. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?p=1325716#post1325716
  11. Thanks, realized my direct x out of date since I recently reformatted my hard drive.
  12. Anyone getting "Unable To Locate Component" error ? "This application has failed to start because X3DAudio1_6.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I re-installed it, still no luck :( EDIT: Whoops someone already posted.

    Tortorial missing

    8/10 well done.
  14. Yeah I found an article on it http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/48427/Americas-Army-Development-Studio-Closed Damn that kinda sucks, I briefly played AA2 on and off didnt mind but hopefully AA3 will be able stable again.
  15. Thanks for this, now I have something to read while waiting for the steam release. I'll consider getting the printed version when its out too.
  16. It has AI but stationary AI to defend towns, airfields etc. All your enemies you will be facing will be real people. WWIIOL stimulates more of a war effort; etc high commands have to manage supplies, research new tanks, weapons etc. Then they have to place AO's (Attack Objectives) on towns and try pushing the opposing team off the map till their supplies and reinforcements reach zero. It’s a live 24/7 battlefield which makes it different compared to OPF or ARMA. But yeah it does have its downs, somewhat outdated graphics but if you aren’t that conscience on eye candy, you’ll be able to enjoy it more. I wouldn’t say that these games are competing but rather have separate focus; WWIIOL is strictly online with offline practice and relies on other human players to contribute to a virtual war effort. While OPF and ARMA focuses more on singe player type with multiplayer, mission editors etc all combined with physics, graphics and AI. However the online can be compared to WWIIOL just not its scale (WWIIOL online uses a ½ scale map of Western Europe with 30,000 km² of accurate terrain) and also max amount of players (500-100 players average logged on at anytime).
  17. +1 WWIIOL If your into this type of niche military sim genre, give WWIIOL a go. I've invested a good year on and off with it. There's nothing else quite like it when it comes to MMOFPS's. Not recommended for the impatient, high learning curve!

    TrackIR 5 ArmA2 Thread!

Anyone care to post their Track IR profiles? I'm using: Speed=3 Smooth=10 For a first time user im finding those settings alright.
  19. Would be nice if we could pre load this at least a few days before it comes out.
  20. Yeah I think i only have one friend who's into sims but doesnt have a decent computer to run games. Rest of my mates just play fast pace stuff, which i still play like TF2, BF2, PR, Cod4 etc... I play socom aswell too but havnt jumped on it lately, still been waiting for that big patch.
  21. I just went with pre-ordering it off steam. I actually buy alot of games off steam now, saves me space in my room, auto patch updates n all that. Only downside if you dont have a permanent internet connection then your screwed. Oh and the aussie dollar aint so bad right now so go all out.

    TrackIR 5 ArmA2 Thread!

Thanks for that extremely insightful video Dslyecxi, I myself have just ordered the TrackIR 5 Pro bundle (with your coupon of course :)). I was always curious about the trackIR before hand but could never really grasp the concept or even its usefullness of having one. After watching that video I was purely amazed at how surreal and immersive it can be to be able to turn around and look at your squad mates or even look around in a cockpit freely. So thankyou for that video cant wait till it gets here. Just wanted to give my 2cents. Cheers
  23. I was thinking bout grabbing a second HD 4890, but rumour has it directx 11 cards are coming out sometime this year. Rather do a pair of directx 11 cards. Still a second one couldnt hurt for performance improvments once crossfire is optimized for arma 2.
  24. Thanks for the fast reply, yeah forgot about the view distance. 3km sounds great! I looked and those comparson screens and it looks great still at very low, just bit rough around the edges but anti aliasing could probably smooth that out along with all the motion blur and such.
