    Development Blog & Reveals

Honestly if you feel that SteamWorks integration is a bad thing then honestly you must have no idea what SteamWorks is. Simply put it allows all developers to leverage features that would normally be reserved for publishers with big pockets. Things like centralized mod hosting, delta patching, and unified game branches are all really exciting things that we as a community would probably never see if it wasn't for Valve's effort. The DRM is nothing to worry about, online activation is a fact of life now. You are all online anyways, a one time activation after you purchase the game won't kill you. After that BIS has stated in the press release that you can play the game offline. Take a moment, breathe deep, and do your research before you claim the sky is falling.
  2. Doesn't help, I don't have physx and I don't use SLI. Nor do I have 4 gb of ram. 186.18 drivers
  3. 7950 GTX Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 WD 170gb RAID 0 Array 2gb RAM In the demo, and in past versions I did not have this issue. It seems at certain points, ground movement for me becomes almost impossible as it stutters every few feet or so (the game locking up for 1-3 seconds at a time). Flying an aircraft is un-effected which leads me to believe it has to do with streaming textures or certain details in the landscape. It seems that it happens over time, menus run fine and sometimes joining a game I get no stuttering at all. But 5 minutes in and it starts up again. it gets progressively worse until gameplay becomes absolutely impossible. .cfg language="English"; adapter=-1; 3D_Performance=93750; Resolution_Bpp=32; Resolution_W=1280; Resolution_H=720; refresh=60; Render_W=1280; Render_H=720; FSAA=0; postFX=0; HDRPrecision=8; lastDeviceId=""; localVRAM=529522688; nonlocalVRAM=804235264; sceneComplexity=250000; note sceneComplexity is something I tried to fix it, so it is not the cause.
  4. From what I've heard, Flashpoint 2 uses an updated physics from the one they used in Dirt so I can only expect amazing things from the vehicles physics and destructible environments (hopefully). And I think that's it, oh and they aren't using a single hitbox for their vehicles (IE you can't shoot a tank with a machine gun and kill it eventually) But Arma 2 has the community which makes it epic in every way shape and form.

ARMA 2 german to english version?

90% of it is translated, it is considered taboo on the forums though since it's just the beta english .pbo(s)
  6. point is moot he uploaded to a crap RS account. The download is gone.
  7. seconded, you don't know if he got a review copy or not...respectufully of course.
  8. I expect videos and reviews (In english please, or at least sub titles...something, please) Some tips for videos, NNNOOOOOOOO music pleeeaaaase I can't stress enough how annoying it is when you play your music over the game. No fancy intros or anything. Cut out the parts where NOTHING HAPPENS. use REGISTERED FRAPS, "buy" it if you must. Post on youtube thanks in advance my German friends.
  9. Steam replaces vital game files upon launch if they are found missing. I am able to edit Team Fortress 2 files, and vital Arma files and they are not replaced. But if they are deleted they are replaced.
  10. Wrong sir. Steam goes out and looks for a patch by asking the master server if a patch has been uploaded by the publisher, if it has it downloads and installs the patch. I run Arma with beta patches, and the 1.14 patch. Check your facts before posting Mister.
  11. Yeah...well...Arma on steam is still on 1.09 O_o you have to manually patch it up to 1.14. :butbut: Maybe if 505 do it (since they are on steam) updates will be on time and automatic...oh wait this is valve, updates will be up EVENTUALLY after launch.
  12. Apparently the game is already in english judging from preview screen shots from EuroGamer. Picture Link. good news I guess. read the full article http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/arma-ii-hands-on I for one, am pumped.
  13. I'm wondering if BI will comment on this, because if they don't have a true release here in the US, I'm probably not going to be able to convince my normal group of internet and Real World buddies to go out and actually buy the game. I was talking with some of my Arma coop regulars today and they all basically said "Welp, we'll just pirate it then." and I just turned my nose up to that, I wanna support BI, but they sure are making it difficult.
  14. This makes me incredibly upset, how could you ignore such a huge share of the market? I was ready to buy this day 1, but I guess I'll be importing the english UK version.

ArmA II release date discussion thread

I'm concerned about the lack of a confirmed US release...looks like I'll be importing a UK copy then :butbut:
