Ugh. Keep trying. Holy crap mate, how do you get by with a system like that? Should count your licky stars you got it to start :).
-
Remember how ARMA ran at release on high end machines? I'd bet my last dollar there'll be engine optimizations over the next few patches.
-
Whoa, 8000 viewdistance is a bit excessive isnt it?
-
Looks like a directX problem. Maybe try uninstalling directx and jst applying the newest version from there.

Yep, MrMurrays guides are the be all and end all of starter 'noob' guides. They'll get you rolling down the right road. The best teacher is experience. Toy around with everything you can in the editor. Have an idea of what you want to see and when you cant achieve it go looking for a way to get around it and add that to your skillset. Over a year or 2 you'll be able to basically will things to happen in the editor without any problems at all that would have made oyur head explode when you were a beginner.

Placeholders for better sounds, what else? It was either that or delay the game until they have all the sounds ready to be implemented, it was a pretty good choice in my eyes. ARMA sounds holding the place of the new sounds until they go in isn't exactly gamebreaking.

Apparently not, Im in Australia so for some reason we don't get it until the 30th. 3d 21h to go. Right after trhe weekend damnit.

ArmA2 Demo Release Today - 2PM GMT - 3PM CET - 6:00 AM PST
Baldman replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You need to move closer to your monitor ;). That happens when the resolution is set at a level your monitor can't handle. -
BIS have said alot of the sounds are placeholders so that isnt much of an issue, little touches like the minigun ROF will most likely come in later patches.
-
Tell me about it :D. Doesn't unlock until the 30th for me. I'm still pretty happy with the decision though, at least we got to skip the big bugs so there is still an up side.

Need more grunt than that if you're capturing high quality video in fraps at the same time. A speedy HDD doesnt hurt either.
-
Then you're one of the lucky few who has a sysyem that works together without hiccups. Myself and everyone I know (Every single person) who used Vista 64 had a hard battle to fight everytime a new game was introduced to the system, hours on the games support forums later and you could finally get it running stable, unitl an update came for Vista or the game itself then it was on again.

Fatigue and holding breath in ARMA2. Different from America's Army 3?
Baldman replied to BF2_Trooper's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yeah that blur/fuzzyness while fatigued is nice. At first I thought the HDR was screwing up but then I noticed it going away when I rested. It works really well. -
GL mate, pain in the arse but you'll save yourself alot of headaches with plain, boring old XP.
-
If I were in your position I would just drop it all and go back to XP. Look a page or so back and look at my system. Im getting a solid 50 at least unless I have 80-90 ai on screen then it starts to drop.

64bit operating systems and games....... Not good bedfellows :). Look at any support forums for games released since 64 bit OS's have become mainstream and you'll find most of the problems occuring with the 64bits. Especially where Vista is concerned.
-
Easily fixed. Don't buy it :). There has been a huge influx of people with a single post ranting about the game lately and they all seem to have the same writing habits.
-
You'll have to wait until you get the full version. Most of the hardcore players have been playing it for a while now, you won't find many playing the demo. The guys I play with have had the full game since the initial release but I was kind of screwed because I made the steam preorder. :). If you get into MP with the demo you better expect to find alot of idiots.
-
If you're having trouble with that system you need to optimize your PC. I have much better performance on a lesser machine. No fps drops around town and everything looks a step up from ARMA in terms of graphics. Not ARMA 2 as it was intended but pretty damned good. You can't base your opinion on the entire game on a single bootcamp mission. If you don't like it thats fine but at least hate the entire game as opposed to throwing a tantrum over a single training mission.
-
IMO the content level in regards to missions could have been greater to showcase the game a bit more. Also, alot of features listed in the demo aren't there. M107, javelin soldier etc etc are replaced with other weapons but all in all its a good effort. I think the inclusion of the editor will serve to confuse new players more than anything but for a long time player like myself that wasn't an issue. I dont think the demo would make me buy the game had I been a new player and this was my first experience in the OFP/ARMA world. More missions would have helped. The one SP mission included (not the warfare mission) would be a bit confusing to new players since it can get a little chaotic and your team seems to get stuck around a single building and get picked off leaving you a bit unsure of how to continue. I managed to figure it out but thats only because I have almost 10 years clocked with the games, like I said, might be a bit much for new players, maybe 2 or 3 more short simple missions to give an idea of what the game is all about. Boot camp all ran perfectly for me, not much info gained from them but I guess there really isn't much to learn so they serve their purpose. Now I just need to wait a few days until my steam preorder unlocks and I can dive into the campaign. I'm running it at a constant 45-60fps on the cutdown Chernarus island with a mid level system and everything set to normal (shadows off) and view distance at 1600 at 1440*900. Core 2 duo E6600 2gb RAM GF 8800GTS 320MB XP Pro Benchmark scores 40-49 on each run.
