The VW 181 Kurierwagen (also called the thing or the samba) was introduced in the West German Army in 1969 as fill in the gap for a non developed Euro-Jeep. He was in service in Germany, Denmark, Netherlands or Austria and was also found in South America and Africa. The production ran in Germany to 1979 and in South America to 1983.
