  1. Yeah, Take that Black Hawk Down game for example, it uses lotsa pixel shadding efects and all that but overall it has too many low res. textures and its colors look cartoonish.

    one thing bis should look into is light efects during the day, while opf looks amazing at night, and awsome during sunrise/sundown it looks a bit watercolored during the day confused.gifsmile.gif .

    Yes OFP looks great durring sunrise and sundown, most of my missions take place from 5 am to 8am and 5pm and 8pm(nad at night) but at high noon game looks a little pale...

    Also, i think that gamers are asking to much from ARMA serial, i would also like to see realistic AI that supresses enemy, that it has a realistic fear factor or vehicles have better damage sistem and Physics and ect...BIS developers probably could make most of this things better, but this is a big game and all of those things would impact game preformance alot(then we would all cry because we would not have a powerfull PC to run it), dont forget that this game does not focus on just simulating a tank, or a plane or an infantry...(imagine if IL2 sturmovnik also simulated a infantry and other things, it would be inpossible)

    If the vehicles in the Arma would use all those little things the game would use more models, texture filtering, scripts and not to mention that there would bee more bugs(because, the more complicated game, more bugs you have)

    This game isnt like Call of Duty, it doesnt use medium levels that can look detailed and it doesnt script every move the AI have(remember when playing the same level at COD 4, you could always know where the AI will be, but playng OFP or ARMA it would always hapend differently)

    I think that game will be the best if all the Aspects of the game would be balanced, Graphic, gameplay, Ai (you cant have one unit much better than the other unit just because in real life it's like that, the missions would be unlayable, things need to be balanced, if you want one side to win, just encrese theyre skill and decrese the oponents)

    This is the most realistic military game, but it's still a game...

    What good is the game that is so detailed if it isnt playable and you need a ton of patches for it...

    It would be the best if they make a solid game with a solid AI and vehicle, and than maby make a Expantion pack that makes the game Ai better and detailed vehicle,And everyone is happy...

    Thats why OFP is good, you have a great game and if you want more just search the web for mods that you like the most, different AI, effect and so on...

  2. I have a question though. Why vehicles go so slow on main roads? When Im driving a car on a dirt road they go all fast . shouldn't it be the other way around?

    It depends on what values the specific addon has, in this case BAS_O roads use different values in confg. file.On this roads cars go around 30 or 35 mph while on BIS roads go around 45 to 50 mph(that's why you don't get steering wheel locked on BAS_O roads and on BIS roads steering wheel locks when going faster in a corner)

    OFP version 1.0 and 1.48 used the same values as BAS_O roads but they changed that with the resistance expansion pack...

    Well, it's hard to say...I'm taking some time of from the first island,it took a long time to make it and summer just started in croatia so il be going to sea,will spend less time in front of a PC...maybe 4 or 5 monts, it all depends how much free time i will have...maybe soner maybe later, who knows!


  4. Hello all you Ofp freaks :cool:

    Some of you now im working on a new island, i posted about that at Ofpr site...after finishing my first island i started working on a new, better and more detailed island...

    It will have a woodland and desert part like previous version..

    the woodland part will have much different terrain than now, it will be a mix of modern and ww2 locations, farms fields, hills ect, this time im using more objects like Farmland objects, bas_o object, baracen addons,CAF_KKK_BUILDINGS...so any comments and tips are welcome, here are some screenshots of the locations i made so far...

This is the old version, it's just that i wanted to post it here also...Actualy when i finish the new it will not overwrite the old on so you can use both of them, because there will be more locations and different terrain, some locations will be remain the same but it will be more detailed and it will use many new objects like Farmland Objects, Bas_o objects,CAF_KKK_BUILDINGS, Baracen addons...it will have a little bit of ww2 look and il try to make some thing like Omaha beach...The Locations i made so far look amazing, more than i expected...

Dont know about roads, maby because i used BAS roads so maby thay are different...As for the part of being a little empty, i wanted an island that looks good and runs good so people with slower PC can play also...But now im working on a new version of Gala island and will have more objects, In my previous version i mostly used original OFP buildings, but now i will use more objects like Farmland Objects, CAF_KKK_BUILDINGS, bas_O objects and Baraken addon ect...


  7. Didn't notice any bugs on the island, but it is a huge island so you never know...

    Only downside is that i didn't make the airfield taxi of for the AI units to take off or land, sorry about that...

    DESCRIPTION OF GALA_ISLAND

    This island is not based on reall locations, i made it up...

    Nort Part of the island is Europian tipe of vegetation, there is one airfield, one bigg city, a few smaller city's, farms, i also made a river Dam...

    There is a huge Assault beach to the nort coast...

    South part of the island is a desert tipe, also one bigg city, few smaller citys, two airfields,few oasis..

    there is a huge mountain running across the midle of the island, it seperates the nort part from the south part of the island...

    Have fun with Gala_island and feel free to use it. But then give me credit in your readme or wherever.

  8. i had a OFP problem on my old pc but it wasnt black screen, game worked fine but when i put more addons, the game would not start it would report error- not enought memory or some thing like that...

    But i used the same addons like before and worked fine...

    and 6 monts later i bought new motherboard and then game started working, the CPU and graphic card and RAM were the same i onley changed motherboard...now i have new PC intel Core2quad Q6600, 2,4ghz 2gb ram and Gforce 9600 gt 1gb memory, win XPsp3 and the game works fine but some other old games do not work, i tried freedom fighters and get a black screen and some old strategie game got a black screen...


  9. yes the fraps has a big impact on a game when recording, but video comes a little blurry, have you tried my island GALA?im working on a new one, les modern, it will look a bit like normandy france and some modern locations, also will have a desert part like previus version.I was just testing some new locations with sanctuarys ww4 mod, he did a great job, love the anims...I send some new screnshoots of how the hedgrows and bocage are going to look like to rellikki at OFPR INFO, dont know when he will post them, looks great...long live OFP hehehe...


  10. I was always disappointed that game lagged, thats why i experimented whit this and i made a test on my old PC and my new PC...

    My old PC was AMD 64bit 3.0 gh 1GB ram and ATI Saphire 8600 xt 256...and i always assumed that if i set in my OFP preference all at autodetect or high levels that game will run better, but it didnt...it always run's the same so i decited to use the low values and the game run smots in big citys and detailed maps and lots of AI...

    Than i tested the same thing on my new PC (Core2Quad 6600 2,4 gh, 2GB ram and 9600 Gt 1 GB video memory), when playing on high values game lagged in big battles and better maps and when set on low game run faster and it looks better because now i can max the visual detail and fps, it also worked the same for my friends and some guys on internet that i told...Bis did some thing with the resistance expansion pack that fucks up the game, i noticed that old flashpoint(with no resistance)in preference options it only detects max memory of 256 and geometry performance max 2900 and old OFP alwys run like piece of cake of full graphic even on an old PC like 1.8 gh and 256 ram and 32mb card...as sanctuary said probably lack of memory optimisation in OFP, the game does not impact GPU that much...Now i play the game on 1600x1020 with terrain "normal" , "visual detail to 5.17" , "FPS to max" and "visual distance to 1k", and i set my Graphic card in control panel to best quality and i have 60 Fps even ithere are lots of AI in firefight( fps does not drop down or go up, it is always the same when the vid card is set to best quality, if i set the Video card in control panel to "let the aplication decide" than i have over 300 fps but then the game doesnt look tha good...

    make some testing with the flashpoint preferences you can set File heap and texture heap to 6 or 8 mb but decrese the memory and geometry...i wish if someon can contact the bis and ask abot this so we realy now how this effects the game, but im happy so far because my Ofp runs frikin awesome on my detailed island and using sanctuary ww4 mod, i used also CSLA mod an manny more and all run good now...

    you can go to OFPR INFO site and take look at some of the screnshoots i posted there and see how the game looks on my PC, it looks exactly as in the screenshots, also there is a link to some videos and you can see it for your self.


  11. here is how.

    start wrp tool and goo to the town you wish to take the position and put your mouse over it and in the botom left corner there is box called Mouse position than shows XYZ coordinate of your curent mouse position... for example X:4654 Y:10 Z:10128

    put those numbers to your confg. file

    you do not need the Y number because it shows the hight, only use X and Z number as Y number is always set 0 in the confg.file example

This is an old game, but it can still lagg because the game engine isn't optimised good,it doesn't mater if you have a great PC, remember when we first played Ofp version 1.0 it run smooth with all options on high, but when resistance was installed the game engine was a little changed and it started lagging...but there is a little trick how to make the game run faster and it will stil look the same, here is what you need to do...

    --->go to "flashpoint preferences"(many of you just klick to autodetect, dont do this) go to /advanced/in the Preformance box set everything to low

    -total memory 128mb

    -texture heap 2mb

    -file heap 2mb

    -geometry performance 408

    now go to effect, turn everything on

    -max lights 32

    -explosions on

    -missle on

    -static on

    go to texture and set

    -cockpit 1024x1024

    -object 512x512

    -landscape 512x512

    -special effect 32x32

    -auto drop-down 4x

    go to detail and set all to max

    -max object 256

    -object LOD 0.005

    -shadow lod 0.005

    now exit and start the game.

    the game will run faster and now you can increase "Visual detail" and "FPS in the game option, the objects will look good in large distances and the game fps will not drop so easy...

    now i play the game on 1600x1024 and visual detail amost to max and visibility from 1k to 5k and the game runs like a piece of cake, but it also depends on what mods you use, like ECP and FFUR mods have a lot of scripts running in the missions so they can make the game lagg, if you want to make a high scale battles it would be best to use better optimised mods that have good unit models like WW4 mod...

  13. it would be better to make an island with old Opf object not resistance, better LOD and better preformance on Pc...i'm almost finished with my island and i use 90% old objects, for ground texture i use resistance texture and i use roads from BAS object addon(best roads i have seen)...there is a desert part and a woodland part of the map...for desert i also used some of the buildings and palms from BAS object addon...every time i work on the island i test that loation in game to see if it looks ok and how it runs on pc...to test the map you have been working on just name it "eden.wrp" and copy it to the game folder "worlds" and paste it there( but make the backup copy of the original file) and start the game, go to mission editor and load the everon map(only now it's not everon anymore it is a map you have been working on with the same name)...

    it's much easy'er then compresing the map into .pbo file and putting it into addons.i use "Wrp tool"..

  14. Ofp in multiplayer is beter if you play coop, i made a couple of mission and played with 4 of my friends, it was awsome,i put a lots of enemyes to shoot and whe played one mission almost 3 hours...best time ever...but playnd DM or Capture the flag isnt that interesting...
