  1. Okay thanks, I've edited the METIS write-up to read "Effective against heavier armour"

And i'll run more tests to see what types of RPG rounds the game provides.

PS- Incidentally, most of the launchers in the game only have one shot which is a severe handicap if there's more than one enemy AFV in front of you..

So is there any way to make the operator begin a mission with more rockets, or give him quick and easy access to resupply in the field?

  2. I bought Combined Ops as a download last month from Gamersgate, but it didn't come as a single download (as i'd expected) but came in two separate downloads (ArmaII and Arrowhead), so now I've got 2 separate games sitting on my drive and have got the hassle of trying to combine them when i've psyched myself up to try. (I'm just a grunt wargamer and PC-illiterate)

  3. WISHLIST- I wish there was a video playback 'Debrief' option like in a good many other games so you could replay the mission and analyse it from various angles and points in time with stop/continue/rewind buttons to see exactly what went on, and where the bullet that killed you came from etc..

  4. .. the accuracy of the enemy is overwhelming. When you attempt to shoot a soldier from many hundreds of metres away they turn around and return almost 100% accurate fire killing you instantly...

Yes it's unrealistic, it happens even when i set their quality to 'Novice'.

  5. In the factual book "Bravo-Two-Zero" about an SAS patrol dropped behind enemy lines in Iraq at night, the author said something like- "We debarked from the Chinook, fanned out to cover and lay quietly as the chopper left. This is standard procedure, to lay low for a while soaking up the atmosphere of the area, watching and listening for every little sound and movement"

As I said earlier, it works in AA too, as to go running around like headless chickens right from the start is a big no-no.

By laying still using your eyeballs/binocs/weapon sights/NV goggles and thermal imaging etc, you'll pick up the slightest enemy movement.

  6. I play at 'Regular' difficulty most of the time and find that going to the map (keypress M) for a few seconds every minute or so on a regular basis will often reveal enemies on it that you haven't yet seen with your naked eye in the 3D world.

Also back in the 3D world learn to WAIT AND WATCH in cover (preferably prone) for enemy movement for a little while, then if it seems all clear, advance a bit further in a running crouch then WAIT AND WATCH AGAIN, and so on, and don't forget to keep briefly glancing at your map.

Remember it's far better to let the enemy walk into your gunsights than for you to walk into his.

  7. ..... If you are seeking for a script line to control them in the editor try flyInHeight...

    Thanks i'll try it..:)

Incidentally about 3 of us at The Few Good Men club have formed an ArmA multiplayer group but we want more AA players, so if anybody wants to join the club, come on over at my invitation (I'm second in command at FGM)-

  8. Help! I'm Arrowhead 1.55 and am wondering why it goes into jerky "slideshow mode" after a few minutes play?

It happens on 'High' AND 'Normal' global video settings.

My PC is quite good spec-wise,and i've updated my vid drivers, so I can't understand why this should be happening?

Is there a video setting in the 'Advanced' category that I could try tweaking to fine-tune things?

    I'm-

    Intel Core2 Duo E8500@3.16GHz

    RAM 4.0GB Dual-channel DDR2@400Mhz

    NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1024Mb

    WinXP Home SP3

    HannsG 28" widescreen
