  1. After dragging the Nvidia 'Digital Vibrance' slider, don't forget to click 'Apply' before exiting the screen. (Incidentally, on my system the Arrowhead default colours are much more washed out than Chernarus, so I usually drag the DV slider to about 75% for Arrow, and about 60% for Chern) PS- The new colour setting will also stay on your PC in every other game and application until you go back into the Nvidia screen and click 'Restore Defaults'>'Apply'.

Rifle scope black at night question

Thanks mate you've cracked it, I forgot the '/' key on the numpad, duh.. It makes our guy use the iron sights as in the pic below because he can't look through the scope while wearing NVG's- For the record here's the baby we've been talking about, the Mk17 EGLM RCO (short for "Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module, Rifle Combat Optics") Follow-on question- There are no less than 116 Rifles in Comb Ops (below) but I can't seem to separate them for convenience into Blufor/Opfor on the screen. As you see, I've selected Blufor but it's also bundled Opfor rifles in the list, what do I click to get separate lists?

Rifle scope black at night question

Okay thanks. Follow-up question:- Is there a way to give men specifically-chosen weapons in the Editor rather than have to take the default weapon? I'm thinking mostly of the huge variety of rifles and MG's, I'd like to try them all out one by one in the Editor (not the Armoury) by day and night so I can do a comprehensive "Rifles/MG's Guide" with screenshots including a view down the scope/sights and a brief note on their night/day/zoom capabilities etc. (PS- I can't test them properly in the Armoury because it doesn't always randomly give us night, whereas in the Editor we can freely choose night anytime we like)

Player moves like a drunken sailor.

Right, I've been computer gaming for 30 years and AA2's graphics/animations "feel" is among the best I've ever seen, so I can only assume some peoples PC specs are at fault, not the game. My outfit- Intel Core2 Duo E8500@3.16GHz RAM 4.0GB Dual-channel DDR2@400Mhz NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1024Mb WinXP Home SP3 HannsG 28" widescreen

    Fix your game

Ah, but this is not day one, many bugs have been zapped out by now. I bought Combined Ops about 6 weeks ago and haven't yet come across any bugs worth mentioning and am having great fun..:) PS-I think if people are having serious problems they should check their own PC specs first. Mine is okay- Intel Core2 Duo E8500@3.16GHz RAM 4.0GB Dual-channel DDR2@400Mhz NVIDIA GeForce GTS 250 1024Mb WinXP Home SP3 HannsG 28" widescreen

  9. Hi, when I point my digital camera (Kodak Z915) at the monitor screen to video some AA2 game action, (or at the TV screen to capture some soccer action) why does the finished video keep blurring in and out of focus every few seconds as if it's struggling to stay locked onto the screen? Unfortunately the focus is automatic so I can't manually overide it and lock it. Normal real-life vids of people and scenery are fine, it's only monitors and TV's that the auto-focus doesn't like.

    Any photography/video experts here?

Thanks but it sounds a bit too techy for me, I'm just a grunt wargamer (sniffle)

    OA Lighting Engine Criticism

Okay thanks, I just downloaded 'Summertime v 1.0' to desktop, and the following 5 files are in its 'Addons' folder- Do I simply drag the 5 pbo's into my main AA2 'Addons' folder, and do I drag the 5 Bisign files there too? There was also a single file called 'communityplants.bikey' with the download, what shall I do with that one? Also, could I play online with people who haven't got this mod installed?

    Any photography/video experts here?

Thanks guys i'll bear your replies in mind but luckily it's not really a big problem and I can just about live with it because I only very rarely want to shoot vids straight from the screen. Incidentally, the auto-focus also gets confused if I'm shooting pics through window-glass because it seems to think I want to take a pic of a window pane instead of the Chinook helicopter that's passing low overhead, so it focusses on the glass, making the Chinook hopelessly blurred. PS- In fact I'd never have bought this cam in the first place (110 Brit pounds/ 176 US dollars) if I'd know its dumb auto-focus couldn't be disabled to go manual!

    Any photography/video experts here?

Yes i might buy FRAPS for vids, i already use the free version for screenshots but I think vids are beyond it. Alternatively I could buy a camera with manual focus. PS- just for scientific interests sake, WHY does my cameras auto-focus keep blurring when pointing at monitors and TV's? Maybe the warm screens interfere with the IR focussing sensor?

    Aircraft Control - Poll

I'm a longtime hardcore flight simmer, but AA2 is not a flight sim so I don't feel the slightest need to use a joystick because using keys is just fine. For general flight in AA2 from A to B, my preference is to fly with external view (numpad Enter toggle) for better 'attitude awareness', AND with the 'Free Look' locked on (numpad *) This creates a comfortable sense of detachment from the plane/chopper as if it's 'sitting in the air', allowing you to freely pan around it, and you simply touch the four arrow keys now and again to keep it on track. When landing choppers on a precise spot, I like to engage 'Autohover' on the approach, then (with Auto-hover still engaged) use the arrow keys to 'nudge' the helo towards the spot, in combination with the descend key (Z) and the left/right yaw keys (X and C) to land on a sixpence.

    OA Lighting Engine Criticism

I can't see anything technically wrong with the graphics, so maybe some people are either in nitpicking mode, or else their PC's are to blame? My only non-technical gripe is that the Chernarus landscape is permanently Autumn, resulting in some garish yellowy-red tree foliage which I don't like at all..:)

    Legal question

After buying downloads, is it legal (or even technically possible) to burn them to disk as backups for your own use?
  17. pooroldspike

    Legal question

Yes, like I always say-"a disk is forever, but a download is only til your next PC crash"! I know we can probably get a free replacement download, but at 9Gig it took me 3 and a half hours to d/l AA2 from Gamersgate, and another 3 and a half to download Arrowhead, then more time to combine them, and more time to up-patch (yawn). By contrast, disks are much quicker and easier to handle, I had a shot at burning AA2 but it was too big to go on one DVD and I had to spread it over three, but as I'm just a grunt wargamer (not a PC whizz) i've probably done it wrong anyway (sniffle) PS- my PC crashed a couple of years ago and wiped a downloaded Sailing game off my drive but the publisher said I had to pay for a replacement download. That's why I say "a disk is forever..."

Do I still drop my equipment into the water?

I've gone swimming for fun in AA2, and every time my man has lost his rifle after a while, usually around 3 minutes
  19. Before booting up AA2/OA, I right-click the desktop to bring up my NVidia options screen, then simply drag the 'Digital vibrance' slider up to around the 70% mark (default is 50%), then click 'Apply', close the screen and boot up, and bingo! the colours are more colourful..:)

ArmA II & OA Everything Backup/Restore?

I'm not a PC expert (just a grunt wargamer), but wouldn't installing AA to an external hard disk help in some way? That way, you could just unplug it when you're doing something to the PC, then plug it in again after you've finished?

    Optimal settings?

Try clicking the 'Default' vid settings and leaving them alone as much as possible. I use them myself and the only tweak I do is to 'Disable' the postprocess effects to get a crisper picture. 24. I just had a crack at combining AA2 and OA and it seems to have worked, but I keep getting this weird message below so it seems I haven't been fully successful. Can anybody tell me how to get rid of the message or should i just ignore it?
