  1. I'm still learning the ropes of High Command mission building and at the moment I'm wondering whether it's possible to see things through the eyes of another unit anywhere on the map? For example if I order an armoured car to go a mile or two down the road, can I 'jump' to it to see what it's seeing?
  2. ok thanks i'll psyche myself up to have a crack at it

    satchel charges

I press the mouse wheel to bring up the command 'Put satchel charge' and then click left mouse button- The guy kneels to place it- Move him outta there or he'll stay kneeling forever, that's it on the floor.. At a safe distance press the wheel again to bring up 'Touch off 1 bomb' and press left MB-
  5. Yes it seems different games have their quirks, for example in Panzer Command Ostfront, Fraps will capture all screenshots perfectly once the game begins, but it won't capture some of the setup screens. PS- My Fraps captures all Arma II screens fine, but another guy told me his Fraps sometimes crashes when he tries to capture Arma II screens.
  6. I know, I'm fine because i have fraps running in the background but the people whose screenshot capture won't work (unless paused to paste them to their pic folder individually) won't be able to pause in multiplay games which is why i mentioned it to remind them
  7. Okay thanks, it pauses singleplayer games fine, I haven't tried it yet with multiplay.. ---------- Post added at 09:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:28 AM ---------- First, I'm only using the free version of Fraps which lacks some features of the buy version, so that might be why it's not as smooth. The Combat Mission Normandy demo is one of the games that won't start while free fraps is running, but its only a demo.
  8. Regarding Fraps, it works fine for me with Arma II and various other games, but won't work at all with some games. In fact some games refuse to run if I've got Fraps running in the background, weird. And it also won't take shots of videos. PS- the only sure-fire way to always get a screenshot is to hit the Printscreen key on your keyboard and paste it into your Pictures folder or wherever. Problem is you can only take one pic at a time with that method and must Paste it before you can take another, which means pausing the game while you do it. But Arma II doesn't have a Pause option so you're in trouble.

Is there a bug or not? If there's a bug in the campaign, don't play it again, play a different one..:)

    UAV guide ?

I've been running some UAV tests but have still got a long way to go. I can get it to work fairly well in what I call "Recon mode' (unarmed), but when it's carrying Hellfires it seems to develop a mind of its own and goes off swooping down and crashing into mountains etc. Recon mode is pretty useful on its own as it gives you an all-seeing eye in the sky, this is the script- this flyInHeight 1000, (don't forget the spaces, and the I and H are capitals) The 1000 refers to its cruising height, you can set it lower or higher, but things look misty at higher altitudes unless you're using a long visibility setting. You enter the UAV via the UAV terminal, and the camera will stay locked on the crosshairs (no need to click). You climb/descend with the Q and Z keys. Hitting 'N' cycles through DTV/ white hot/ black hot. PS- i'm still working on how to make it stick to a patrol area; effects of making it Playable as pilot/gunner; entering it via the 'switch to unit' command, and how to get the bloody Hellfires to work..;)
  11. If you mean The Villa, that's one of the locations I screenshotted here- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/showthread.php?6759-3D-RECCES

How do i get the Jet engine off when flying?

The brakes are the airbrakes, go to external view and you'll see them automatically open when you close the throttle and dive at the target. They automatically close when you pull up. They're very useful because they stop you diving too fast at the target, and you can aim better at a slower speed..:)

    UAV guide ?

I'm not a UAV expert but I dabbled with it a while back and am pretty certain that I could lock onto any spot on the ground (with a mouse click?) so that the camera kept pointing at it no matter which way the UAV kept wriggling and turning, very useful for keeping an eye on the enemy behind a hill. But I seem to remember I had to do some script to make it stay at higher altitudes to get a better smoother view. But overall when it came to firing Hellfires and stuff, I found the UAV was too difficult to work with so I gave up on it.

    Gravity does not exist??!?!?!

Your installation must be bugged or is glitching mate.Check out my M203 gren-launcher tests here and you'll see they have trajectories like rainbows- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/showthread.php?7420-Grenade-Launcher-Tests As for the Hellfire, they're guided and therefore don't suffer gravity drop (think 'lockon'). Check it- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/showthread.php?6609-Hellfire-tutorial PS- here's my 'bullet-drop' tests that show they realistically drop below the crosshairs at longer ranges- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/showthread.php?7436-Sniper-Rifle-Tests
  16. I know the feeling, I bought a neat little mini-keyboard last year but soon realised it hadn't got a numpad and was too embarrassed to take it back for exchange or refund, so I keep it as a spare and went back to my old bigger keyboard (sniffle)

    Gravity does not exist??!?!?!

Here are some launcher tests I ran- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/showthread.php?6239-Shoulder-launched-AT-weapons-roundup

    Gravity does not exist??!?!?!

I'm vanilla Comb Ops and find bullets fly pretty realistically, for example choose a scope with zoom, lay the crosshairs on a nearby target and the bullet will hit the crosshairs as in real life, but at longer ranges you'll see the bullet drops and impacts below the crosshairs because of gravity. But shoulder-launched missiles are a mixed bunch, some seem realistic in the game but some don't, and to further complicate things, in real life ballistic rockets suffer gravity drop, but guided rockets fly horizontally because of guidance vanes which act like small wings, such as with the Hellfire. PS-As for the Javelin, it zooms up and then drops at a steep angle, that's realistic.
  19. I think somebody was talking about optics keys earlier, numpad zero is a useful one

    Screenshots nothing like the game?

The great picture-enhancer for me is to set 'Post-Process Effects' to 'disabled' to make things crisp and clear instead of an ungodly blur

Rules - anyone seen the rules to this game?

I should have mentioned earlier that there's a neat set of simple tutorials and stuff here- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/forumdisplay.php?123-Armed-Assault-II

Getting ai squad mates to fire mortars

My 'Truck Shoot' singleplayer mission acts as a small fun mortar tutorial if anybody wants to check it out, you get 3 mortars (total 24 shots) in your rear area and must drive down the road to spot for them and call in bombardments on a big juicy truck park- TRUCK SHOOT- http://www.thefewgoodmen.com/thefgmforum/showthread.php?5618-PoorOldSpike-Truck-Shoot

Rules - anyone seen the rules to this game?

    Right, the simplest way to get into the game right after buying it is to have fun trying weapons in the Armory, because it's not just a shooting range, IT AUTO-GENERATES SIMPLE MISSIONS for you! For example, choose a rifle to try, and you'll be plonked at a random spot on the map to play with it, then after a while (average 45 seconds) a message will come up offering you a mission (Attack,Defend,Survive,Steal,Hunt etc) which you can accept or decline. If you decline it, it'll offer you another mission after about 45 more seconds. The missions are auto-tailored to suit whatever weapon you chose to try, e.g. if you chose a rifle the AI enemy will be mostly infantry, and if you chose an AT-launcher or SAM, they'll be mostly AFV's or Aircraft. I only mention the Armory missions because many newcomers don't know they exist. Like I said, you have to wait for about 45 secs to be offered a mission, so stick around. Oh, and they're damn difficult to win, I only win about 1 mission in 3 despite using all my cunning to stay alive, so they're great training tools and you'll be pushed to your limit to survive..:) IMPORTANT:- You only get a few Armory weapons to play with after buying the game, and have to 'unlock' the rest by racking up points later (a bit silly if you ask me), but luckily you can get instant access to ALL weapons by inserting the line armoryPoints=50000; into your profile. Here's part of my profile showing how the line looks sitting in there- floatingZoneArea=0; headBob=0.062641099; armoryPoints=50000; sceneComplexity=300000; viewDistance=2400;

Too complicated for me, I only play AA2 at the most simple basic caveman level because life's so much simpler that way..:)
