Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
craig3000 replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Common sense, yes! -
There is obviously something wrong somewhere, I'm sure it will be fixed soon through new graphics drivers and updates to ARMA2 itself
-
Somehow I don't think it will why? -it will work but its probably not as good as a trackIR5 not reason not to support though -main reason, naturalpoint is getting sales from this
-
You can't shoot out when your a passenger? that sucks I would have thought that would be a basic requirement especially in helicopters, look at GTA4 even in that game you can shoot out ROFL no biggy though
-
Yeah I just re-ordered today now they changed the release date :D

Number two is the best performer here, in terms of games anyway sometimes the i7 is a bit behind this core2quad, I'm guessing because the games were made prior to i7 release? and it does seems arma2 doesn't like i7's as much? I'm guessing that's again because of less optimization? -
I run my games at 1280x1024 so when I get ARMA2 I am going to stick it on that res with 100% fillrate -_-

OMG that videos makes me scared XD

Its more than 50, I'm pretty sure I read somewhere its was 150 but of course you would need a server to match if that's true

[Answered] ArmA 2 - Multicore-CPU support flawed? (only 50% CPU usage on quadcore)
craig3000 replied to bluesteel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Well put it this way Would I prefer to spend £100 extra from a good dual to a Quad OR Would I prefer to go from a £160 to a £260 GPU? I pick the latter personally If I were deciding on a PC now I would go for the AMD phenom IIx2 550, I mean it was beating the x3 720 on a lot of tests and it was rivaling a x4 955 and its under £80, then I would go out with he money left over and buy a 1GB GTX 285 But instead I got a Q6600 about a year and a half ago :D -
Haha you couldn't wait :)

Will Bohemia Release more patches to improve system performance?
craig3000 replied to =Spetsnaz='s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Yup I am sure they will lots of games have a couple of patches and there's usually performance improvements in at least one Judging from how many ARMA1 patches there were, I am pretty sure we will get some performance improvements, there should also be some changes in ATi/nvidia drivers too -
I'm purchasing it as a hard copy from amazon.co.uk, normal price and release date 19th :)

Ye I guess that's annoying you can't upgrade your drivers, it really can benefit if you upgrade em, especially when they release more after ARMA2 is released worldwide Check out the AMD game forums, see if they can help with your driver trouble :D Signing out! -

craig3000 replied to fjaekel's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I did say upgrade your drivers as you have 9.1's the current are 9.5, But did you say that it wouldn't install or was that just the control center? You can download just the drivers by themselves no control center, its hard to tell what the problem is game/GPU/drivers etc, I have to go now :) hope you can fix it -

That's what it should look like if you have an ATi4850, the overall temperature being the third one down Also go back to the graphics card tab and tell me the driver version, thanks -
ArmA 2 & Windows 7? Bluescreen before loading
craig3000 replied to JaKe.OnE's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Ok I will rephrase nothing significant :D At least its good there are lots of people using it, means plenty of testing for ARMA2 on Win7 so there's no problems when it releases later in the year -
There are problems with 8GB Vista 64bit and ATI drivers go over to the AMD game forums and check it out But I am pretty sure they fixed this problem, it wasn't just limited to one game Maybe they didn't test for 8GB ram, so limit the amount of RAM it can use like the other guy said 3GB should be plenty for the game alone lol, although it should get fixed if it is a problem, not nice to buy 8GB and not use it properly

There are other means to overclock but that not as flexible Check your temps first there might not even be anything wrong :) -

Yeah when the GPU gets to hot it should reduce the clocks which would result in lower framerates Make sure you have the latest drivers here http://game.amd.com/us-en/drivers_catalyst.aspx Make sure to download the full catalyst software, once installed you should have an icon bottom right of the screen saying ATI this is the control center, enter advanced mode, if you go down to the overdrive tab and enable you will see the manual controls for the fan Looks like this : http://www.vistax64.com/attachments/graphic-cards/10872d1237241112-fan-speed-control-ccc-fan-control-enable.jpg -

GPU VRAM problems maybe Anywho check your temps with this : http://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/SysInfo/GPU-Z/ If your receiving temperatures of 80 degrees celsius you should be worried if its 90+ then ye that's probably the reason :) 50-70 degrees celsius is usually the standard temp for the 4850 when playing a game and by 4850 I mean one with a good cooler or the fan raised, the default card gets temps of 90+ which is insane for constant use, so if you have high temps go into the control center and change the fan to manual and adjust to what you feel comfortable with If its not the temperatures and you suspect the drivers then report it here : http://ati.supportcenteronline.com/ics/survey/survey.asp?deptID=894&surveyID=486 -
Arma2 - Lighteffect problems (ati HD 4870GX2)
craig3000 replied to M-Dust's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Never ever ever ever ever x200 Have catalyst A.I at high or off Most games take into account that the default is the lower option so they design the game around it therefore if you change the setting it can give you undesirable effects :) If you have any problems with ARMA2 and you know its because of the ATI driver please report them here http://ati.supportcenteronline.com/ics/survey/survey.asp?deptID=894&surveyID=486 So they get fixed in driver releases as soon as possible
