PROPER PLANT LOW VISUAL install , you will :)

now that PROPER REALEASED their PROPER VEGETAION , i can play with very good framerate. 1680x1050 , 3D fillrate 133% . something like 2200x1500. it apply an oversampling , and that 's rocks. with that , i add a 2X msaa , and my picture is sharp as a razor. the graphics settings match almost perfectly the cpu bottleneck. i can lower thing , and i don't have more FPS. i call that "EXPLOITING YOUR GPU" i made 2 screenshots , wich illustrate my original problem with arma2 vegetation. as you can see on that first picture , which show stock tree and plant , i have 20 fps it's unplayable. compared with PROPER BI optimization departement KICKASSer VEGETATION TWEAKS LOW VISUAL , the dice has rolled. there is no rescuing for default vegetation . we should drop it . it sucks framerate , and don't contribute too much to beauty of graphism. i can now play with high detail 3D mesh , see soldier hemlet and glasses , in a nutshell , modern graphics. the problem i pointed in first post has now disappear. thanks to proper. test it yourself , and see what i'm talking 'bout ! ---------- Post added at 10:32 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:21 AM ---------- dude ,please. stop noobism . some of scene are cpu limited. some other are GPU limited. i DIDN'T SPEAK ABOUT CPU BOTTLENECK ,as we ALL know OFP has always been. my 2 screenshot of first post were made on an EMPTY map . 5 soldier , plus the player. i consider that as empty. there is no way you could call that "playing condition" there is simply NOTHING . no script , no group , no action. i would like to demonstrate the GPU BOTTLENECK . that's why . and please stop telling me HD4870 1GB is too slow. the upper class cost is nearly 300$. oh , and another thing , phenom sucks. intel winz.

i think you should reconsider the thing . i will make a synthese of why i KNOW i'm right about GPU bottleneck and vegetation FPS killer.

i dream about a vertex deformation of vehicle . ala GTA4. imagine a M136 impact the side of a LAV, letting a crater on it. or crunching terrorist with a tracked heavy goliath :)

a 4800 will handle 95°C++ on core. and more than 120°C on power stage. -

I'm actually out of ammo. i looked for some in the main base, i can't find any . wth ? is there any weapons in this army outpost ?

the campaign is a good piece of ... work.but still need some adjustement, so far , i'm at end of 5th mission , manhattan , and it's quite good. but i played it 2 time , because a bug freezed one of my objective. i think you should try to play MP campaign with your mate, and report all bug you see. at least, the first one :D

4GB++ computer and arma1&2 cause often problem. they say 64bit binary is not usefull. i know though you can resolve that , in limiting your used memory with msconfig. limit ram to 4GB , reboot , and test -
should we test with stable arma2 or last beta patch ?

i personnaly prefer playing without proper building . though , the FPS boost of proper vegetation LOW is incredible. thanks guys for resolved something BI seem not to be able to . maybe they have parts @nvidia and @ATI ... anyway , here is 2 full quality screenshot comparing nearly same picture. i dislike AK47. actually , i replay the manhatan mission, and i wasted my ammo. edit : i replayed it few time now, 1 death by ambush , 1 lost in my team (chopper exit :/) i found it a bit strange ! having a base, but no ammo storage , or weapons box with it ... need a fix imo .

okay my bad !!§§§§ i just verified if ati tray tool OSD caused anything to framerate. and it DOES . this thing eat 20% of my fillrate with 3Dmarkvantage. i suspect it does with all game. after disabled ATT OSD, i relaunch the test few time. it appears that ati tray tool cause stuttering... as soon as i end it , my modest framerate doesn't suffer of stuttering anymore. my ATT version is 1.6.9.1386, vista64 SP2, catalyst 9.8. -

lol for sure, steam doesn't have source code of bohemia $$$. but maybe they could flag the arma2 binary large adress aware ? and/or resolve forever the 4GB++ ram problem . -

i get a better framerate, but i modified the island config . grass clutter go from 1.0 to 1.8 . i get 6fps more. 20 -> 26 . nearly playable ... ---------- Post added at 10:12 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:11 AM ---------- it does. look at my 2 screenshots. things are crystal clear
