I had to underclock the memory clock of my MSI 8800GT 512 OC-E because ArmA used to crash after 30 mins, resulting in red fragments all over the screen and then a BSOD. The same on Hitman Blood Money but just in very rare cases, so I guess it's not ArmA's fault. I know this card was a RTM case back when I bought it, but I was too lazy to change and I was fine with 900 MHz instead of 950 MHz, so... Also neither temp nor power is lacking. I don't know which power supply I have because I'm kinda on the other side of the world right now but my cousin set up the rig for me and I told him I wanted a rig that could smoothly play Crysis with max details (ArmA didn't ring a bell for him so I had to give this embarrasing example. Oh btw, Crysis ultimately ran with about 15fps on max settings, but ArmA was fine (except for the red fragments of course)). Also temperature is in green zone all the time. I check it with EVGA tools (forgot the name), since the newest version of Rivatuner wouldn't run on my x64 Vista (too lazy to turn off driver check crap ...). But anyway it's the same author and the same program. Well, to come back to topic: Maybe the driver crash is because the card is just fubar :D Gonna get a 285 GTX or something when I'm back home I guess (except ArmA2 will run fine on the current one, but I doubt it since it's the same engine).

I have the same issue. It's the nVidia driver crashing and reloading again. After your screen turns black, try Alt tabbing to see this icon (actually a triangle) appearing in the tray. If you wait a few seconds you'll see a pop-up saying the graphics driver have been restored. If you switch back to the game you have the "receiving..." screen a few secs and then all is normal again as you said. I don't know if there's any solution to this, but it can be really annoying when in midst a fire fight.

Well said. A tragic but somewhat funny story from myself: I didn't stop playing OFP because I wanted to. I were forced to because my CD key was banned after my game got hacked by some *** dick. Yes, he completely took over my whole controls, spawned a few attack choppers on a full C&H server and flew off. Only thing I could do was like :butbut: My keyboard was disabled as was my mouse. I just could stare at the screen and :confused: "wtf is going on?" After I realized wtf was going on, I saw the chat filling with "Harhar *** strikes again" BS coming from my name and unplugged the power cable immediately. But it was too late. :( Banned on every major server. Lost my faith in OPF for nearly 2 years. Until I bought ArmA in the end of 2007 and was on the road again. Incredible story, I know, but it's true.

I always find it quite amusing to see newbies asking questions like this, while all others try to explain what is hardly explainable. :D I remember installing OFP back on release and starting to play and I was like: It's just indescribable, you have to experience the game by yourself. There's just no game like this. Can't compare to anything. :D

I encountered some hackers every once in a while. They used to teleport bases around, flip all objects by 90 degree, make the game stop, started to play music etc. etc. Very annoying. But BattlEye should do the job :D

I don't think that's a progress bar. Also the magazine size would make no sense since the ammo is shown directly above in numbers. It's more likely the fire mode. Rainbow Six had the same visualization. 1 bullet for single shot. 3 bullets for burst fire. 5 bullets for full auto.

First of all, I'd like to know why you would want to do that. 1. You want to randomly shoot into bushes to have a small chance of inflicting damage to someone or something. - Waste of ammo, imho. 2. You want to surpress whatever is hiding there. - No chance. AI is not programmed for hiding, running away or shitting their pants.

I also think it's a feature. You get temporarily deaf due to the sheer loudness. Same when you're at a construction yard and someone starts drilling or jack-hammering.

I think you might have fried your RAM-slots... don't know how though :D I'd test the RAM on another rig. If they're ok, you gonna need to replace your mainboard.

The Czech landscape was used for ingame landscape afaik. The surrounding sea is fictional.

I think that's ok as the Combat Operations exclusive A-10 mission also was uploaded on the Missions subforum.

Erm, I'd recommend patching to 1.14 and see if it solves the problem...

Oh, I forgot to add that I'm German. Dunno about native English speakers, but we felt it was more convenient to say OPF rather than OFP. :D That's true on some cases. UNO is ok. ETA is ok. GUS (CIS in English) is ok, USA is not ok :D I think it really depends just on the sound. I remember Scary Movie 3 where the president (Leslie Nielsen) pronounced UN as a single word. Too retarded :D

When Operation Flashpoint (I don't use an abbrevation now) was released, my friends and me used to call it OPF. The only reason is that OPF can be pronounced as a single word without sounding stupid. It was the year 2001 and we were about 14 years old and when playing at a LAN someone came up with the idea to play "OOOOOOOPPPPPPPFFFFFFFFF" once again (yes like some kind of battlecry... remember: 14 years old :D). And nobody really thought about calling it OFP. But honestly, I don't really give a crap on how it is abbreviated as everybody knows what is meant with either OPF or OFP.

Yeah, I'd also remove the battery first. Clearing CMOS solves a lot of booting problems :D

Well, in that video from Tiscali they talked about high-command but in no reference to the campaign. However, I wouldn't be surprised if it's really as you say :)

Red_Barron, I tried to search but I can't find the info you provided. Can you name a source that mentions commanding troops and warfare-style in the campaign? Because I think the campaign really just evolves around this squad, you can just get support from other factions/squads during the whole campaign. All other stuff is in hand of hard-working mission makers :D

At amazon.de The game is listed as Armed Assault 2 :D I guess they don't visit the official blog so often :p Also they changed the cover. Looks like the game was rated in Germany 16+, while PEGI rated 18+

rcsimulations.com has a nice price. The TrackIR 5 + Clip is as much as the TrackIR 5 BASIC in Germany. But shipping rate would add up as well. Hope the price goes down a bit until I return from Vietnam in September. :D
