You're kidding, right? :P The Soviets had so much ammo for everything stockpiled it's probably still cheaper for them to use live ammo while training. :D

Yep. There was a BTR-70 for sale in San Fransisco (i think) a while back, there were even two old (i think) challengers that had been converted to look like M1A1s for movies that you could buy. Also, when collectors/museums stop being interested there are always people like myself who want to create their own private army and recreate the show Jericho when the world ends this December. ^_^

Good question. Not sure if there is a word that would apply to this situation though. I know basically nothing about Economics, but according to the internet... although like I mentioned I am not sure that would apply in this situation.Beyond the worth in scrap, there is also value to be found in selling all those engines, either whole or parted out, as well as any useful bits on the vehicles themselves worth more intact. Then there's the possibility of private buyers wanting whole vehicles, museums, etc. They could make a lot more than the scrap value here pretty damn easily, if they figure out who has direct control over the facility and everything within.

Not quite sure if they meet the definition of "capital" goods rather than consumer, but they can be melted down from scrap and be used to produce other items, so maybe they do, in a roundabout fashion?

Probably just struck oil that week, took a bath in a hot-tub full of money then decided he wanted to own a piece of Canada. Why he chose that particular place, we will never know... :cylon:

The clip doesn't seem to be on youtube anymore, but whenever I think of Quebec I will forever think of that scene in Canadian Bacon where they get pulled over to copy the english insults over to french.

I blame Canadia. Tis all those igloos they live in and the bagged milk they drink I tells ya. Plus, a country that stockpiles THAT MUCH maple syrup can never be trusted.

The all new: Ask a moderator about the forum & rules
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to Placebo's topic in OFFTOPIC
It's been made very clear that Bohemia has nothing to do with Iron Front, that all questions should be directed towards the developers, etc. etc. etc. My question is, why is there even an Iron Front section on the forums? -
^ What he said.

I voted no for several different reasons that added together have me convinced it would be a mistake. I do not own an Apple device, probably never will, and I've only used iTunes for about a week a couple years ago. You do hear people complaining about iTunes, just not really in this forum. Yes, I can see the benefits of integrating Steamworks, but the negatives far outweigh the positives in my opinion.

Bah. The CIA always gets blamed. Why don't we ever hear conspiracy theories about Finland controlling things, or some madman from Tasmania, etc. ;)

It'll probably never happen, but I think what should happen is the assembling of a coalition of middle eastern states. Have the US supply the intelligence/sat recon, either raw or already sorted (I believe we did this for the Brits during the Falklands, to great effect. We've got one of the best systems in the world.), have US/UK/etc. supply AWACS birds & refueling where needed, maybe field hospitals, even have us do CSAR etc., but have the Arab states do the actual ground pounding. It works out better for everybody, in the end. The West shows that we want peace, not just to constantly invade any nation we want, it would show the world that we can work together in the middle east, and it would probably greatly strengthen ties between the nations involved, strengthening the entire region. There's even the possibility Israel could offer assistance, although that would understandably be a touchy subject.

Today, wherever you are, whatever you're doing, stop and take a moment to pay your respects to the boys who never made it off the beaches of Normandy. They were Brits, Yanks, Kiwis, Frenchmen, Dutch, Greeks, Aussies, Belgians, Poles, Canadians, Czechs, and Norwegians, and they died for YOU. Some of them were veterans, and far too many were green recruits. Some were men, but most were boys. They knew what was being asked of them. They knew they were headed into the mouth of hell, yet they did not flinch. They stormed those damn beaches with everything they had. Don't cry for them, those saviors of humanity. Just remember them. Raise your glass to those who never made it back, have a moment of silence, it doesn't matter, it's up to you. Just remember them, and never forget. qPUMAFhfRHk Wp6tzQ4R1tg

Do you realize that bringing it to ArmA 2 means converting the entire pack of A1 addons, all of which (unless stated in their readmes) you would need permission before you could convert?

Issue with ammo boxes including exporting to Multiplayer.
Darkhorse 1-6 replied to Everest's topic in ARMA 2 & OA : MISSIONS - Editing & Scripting
If they are falling on the ground, maybe the ammo box is just full? Happens when you load too much into a vehicle etc. -
Did they actually have Liam Neeson reuse his "Fire Everything!" line from A-Team?

It seems that both of the oil rigs, and Mt. Peligra are behind enemy lines. Could make for some interesting relief missions... -

On the question of "Why would they sell arms to Iran", maybe they sell arms to anybody? The Israeli's will generally assist anybody, as long as whatever the give them/help them with cannot hurt Israel. Hell, before we went into Panama the Israeli's were training their military for lots of $. Maybe Iran going nationalist had them make peace with Israel, so Israel became a neutral party, renounced all ties with NATO and starting selling their equipment to their neighbors. It's a valid possibility, but only one possibility out of a couple dozen.
-
"The Battle For The Falklands" by Max Hastings and Simon Jenkins is a good one, as is most of Tom Clancy's non-fiction work.
-
Exactly, which is why I was so outraged initially when I found out Iran was using Israeli tech. If they had invaded Israel would have gone nuclear, which would have involved Russia, China, and the US at the minimum, along with the entire Middle East. The world as we know it would cease to exist in any form other than a gigantic radioactive cloud, meaning ArmA 3 would have to be a "How long can you live underground" simulator. ;)
-
Hmm... If Israel is a neutral country, I wonder if the storyline has them making peace with Israel/the middle east, and then selling their equipment to their neighbors? Will be interesting to see how BI explains Iran using Merkavas and Namers.

Meh. We can hope, can't we.
