Maybe we can reactivate the BTS for ArmA 2?
S!fkaIaC replied to S!fkaIaC's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Then I buy you and the complete BIS team beer - no!, I buy the complete Staropramen or Budweiser Factory for them! No risk it will happen :D -

Or more sophisticated: - replace with AI bot until situation is back to normal -
Server ability : URL forwarding of MISSION content
S!fkaIaC replied to Dwarden's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - Servers & Administration
Does the existing functionality supporting also load sharing mechanisms? e.g.: We have Gameserver GS + FTP1 + FTP2 + FTP3 Request # 1 should be answered with URLs of FTP1-FTP2-FTP3-GS #2 with FTP2-FTP3-FTP1-GS #3 with FTP3-FTP1-FTP2-GS ...and so on and the client should be able to go in consecutive order through the list and making a defined amount of attempt(s) to grab the requested content there. Another requirement is a constant sync of the hashs of all FTPs and the GS. If on files differs from the GS, the releted IP/URL should be taken from the round-robin list. -
My personal vote: - fix collision detection of objects in general NOW (means correct acceleration considering mass and, if feasible, internal structure [object inside object e.g. for vehicles]) - add in 2035 ragdoll when every kid owns a supercomp :D , ArmA-54 MUST have ragdoll - death animations? dead is dead, even an animation during that a dying unit makes a salute while dying is ok for me.

16vs2 actually, good enough to write boecko an e-mail beggin to do the same again? Or any other engine? The stuff sick is using for his ACE purpose is also nice. And...Suma, WER is one thing, but to report and discuss it issues apart from crashes another. Would you appreciate and use such a tool? I am used to write detailed error reports and putting error logs and screenshoots else an error report is not really useful. -
OMG, what a pain. Have you asked one of the BIS devs if it is possible AT ALL to get it aligned? Not that you fiddling days and weeks to get something working that is impossible due to a design issue?

Hmmm do I need to extend my vote to Yes No Yes, but another tool then Mantis? -
Never, but US did in regions poisoned with lots of Stingers+Strelas, guess they rely on the fact that it is hard to aim at night time (means to pick up a target, usually the sensors can keep track much better during the night) and very high operating heigth. http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lockheed_C-130 Translation: One loss due to the fact it was used during daytime. But using such a bird over Iraq implies a calculated risk since nobody knew at that time if, and how much long range AAs were still available. Some more in English: http://www.fas.org/programs/ssp/man/uswpns/air/attack/ac130.html Ooops, just learned that the AC-130U Spooky is the latest version. Edit2: http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/systems/aircraft/ac-130u.htm Wow, also used in Kosovo conflict, in the same article it is said that it should not used in dangerous areas, but as far as I remember Kosovo/Ex-Yugo was FULL of Strelas and even older Russian made long range AA.

Well, maybe it is a good idea to get boecko's baby back to life BEFORE ArmA 2 release? Maybe boecko will do it for a free copy of ArmA 2? The manual is still there: http://community.bistudio.com/wiki/BTS_Instructions

Hmm, not if you really want to eat what you killed. A Saiga would make a meat-loaf out of a rabbit.

ArmAworld is large, but for sure not large enough for a A130 Spectre. With VD >= 8000 you could for example rule the complete Sahrani. Dunno the supported height of ArmA 2, but if realistic you could stay above the level reachable for most MANPADS. "Superweapons" like A130 are nice for SP missions with linear story, but in open MP missions it would result in odd, unrealistic tactics and strategies. Hence I would like to see the bird done by the comunity, BIS might develope only the features to enable the modders to create such birds.

I do not know the reason nor the technology that might solve this issue. Fact is that in other game engines it works much better. And the odd physics are inherit from OFP and it would be odd to see it again/still in the latest version of the engine after >8 years of development. Since ArmA is among other aspects mainly about destruction I would like to see realistic collisions of any kind of objects. If it is properly solved, they might be able to have natural chain reactions like "Tank collides with truck, truck is bouncing a wall, wall collapses, some bricks hitting a barrel,.....not the odd wall that simply turns by 90 degree in one peace and very slow.

OMG! Hopefully not! I remember the BMPs disappearing into the sky when bumped by another tank. Or the problems to create an addon where you can load one vehicle into another. Usually both flipping and bouncing around until both are wrecked.
