    Well, I meant not mixing laag caused by maybe something else with this "receivng". I have XP 32 SP2, but I would never make it "clean". You might never experience that issue any more since you do not come into a short resource bottleneck situation triggering this "receiving" where the game can not recover from.

    Shooting out of a car/truck?

    The way a solution would look like was shown for VBS1, movement of vehicle and position of "walking" persons was somehow synced. The result was a very odd thing, on a lagging server you would see the truck driving and the person on the back would stay in the air and suddenly spawn back to the truck and so on. If you are not keen on walking around, just firing seems easier. The human body model visualized in a cargo position would be able to use its waepon and turn the upper part of the body. Basically it would be defined like a turret. But still an odd workaround. To make it REALLY possible to walk and shoot BIS must skip the current engine because I have doubts that an engine that can not simulate ordinary object collisions in a proper way would be able to simulate mechanical resistance, inertia etc in a good way. Hence it is better to leave it as it is and hope for ArmA III.
  3. There was and is a reason why in all versions of CTI there is also a tracked support vehicle available for purchase :D And btw the tracked is the one that AI commander is buying by default in CTI.

    Game physics

    Yesterday, warfare-crCTI, me building HEAVY-factory while inside the MHQ-BMP; HEVAYFAC was deployed but the nose of the BMP stucked inside the HEAVYFAC. No problem as such, but the way the gameengine solved it was weird: both items must have ZERO speed, but me and my BMP were kicked to the moon. :confused:

    Hey Clown, maybe you mix something. This thread is about that "receiving bug". It might be something related to video memory or whatever, but I did not experienced any lag before I see the "receiving..." screen.

    Quick report: - BMP at west side as support vehicle; due to lack of suitable APC model? - MLRS is weird, racing around firing missiles in direct fire mode, please remove it from AI shopping list, but leave it in for humans - if you save the mission and start again, you can not buy anything anymore I had so much fun, Infantry is very slow now in ArmA 2, but dies less often. Thx Squeeze!

    It is a very severe bug for me, it happens very often to me, of course always in the worst moments.
  8. Erm, sorry, was not precise enough, I started with 1.01. I do not know how it SHOULD work, but AI driver set to careless still tend to leave the road on purpose. Just to shorten the way. Also keeping the line when they stick to the road is obviously still a problem. If a few wheeled vehicles hindering each other (or any other moving unit is close around) it is a nightmare. As soon as one AI found a solution to get out, but the next is blocking immediately, they do not know what to do. It seems that each AI virtually knows his problems ignoring the fact that there are other units around making a new found path in a few milliseconds invalid. It would be good if a logic in ArmA is permanently screening for AI clusters with a lot of path-recalculations per time unit and if detected, a kind of temporary command makes that only one vehicle moves at a time until it leaves the area where it hinders the others. Only one should move at a given time point, not all at the same time. Do not know, but the current way is not working.

  11. Several people facing different kind of issues, I just want to see how often and how severe. Additional explaination to options 4 + 5: 4+5.) I have the German version, I see "Empfange...", dunno if in English you would see "Receiving..." 4.) it returns by itself to the game, if it takes to long, you can enforce it by switching to the map and back. In most cases it helps. The busier the environment + the server in general the more often it happens 5.) I see "Empfange..." then 1s just black, then again I see "Empfange..." for 2-3s and so on. "M" button does not help, only solution is ALT-F4 and start ArmA again. But it would fail the same way few minutes later again.

Since I expressed extensivly what I (still) do not like in the OFP/ArmA series, it is fair to mention all the lovely things I appreciate: - the vegetation: Brilliant, so rich, enemies are really hidden and hard to spot for a human. I have really problems to enter most villages full with AI hidden in bushes in and around the villages - the MP GUI, still not perfect, but much better then in ArmA 1 - the sound, not perfect, but a HUGE improvement - the European style vegetation, I simply feel "home", was feed up by all this desert style maps (South Sahrani...) - lots of details/objects/addons: The spinning radars.......camo net......boxes with communication equipment.....it adds a LOT to the overall atmosphere. - the girls - beautiful :D - the ingame voicechat: sound is much better compared to ArmA1 IMHO

    Well, CTI - like missions have a lot of AI driven wheeled vehicles. Supply trucks are essential and mission critical.

    :D :D As Ebud says, you ignoring the history. Well, I buy ArmA for MP only, and if MP does not work properly it IS PREVENTING me from gaming.

    Well, OFP/ArmA veterans can deal with all those bugs. New guys should wait 1-3 patches else they would be to much disappointed. You know, the first impression matters.

    So much nonsense. There ARE major bugs in ArmA II. New bugs. Some of the old bugs inherit from ArmA I are severe. 505 should better release a different version. I can deal with since I got used to it, a newcomer must be shocked. MP is little bit buggy. JIP problems. Slots are not usable. Event propagation to all clients. Hope it will be solved soon.

    Fully destructible environments

    Well, fully destructible would mean that you do not need any island at client side since it would have changed since mission start and if the changes reaching a certain amount you have to sync so much that you can load the complete environment from the server. When we are all connected with 100GBit fiber to the dedicated server we can have "fully destructible would".
