  1. I looked through some posts, but didn't exactly find what I am about to post, so here it goes..... I was thinking of something that I wish they would include in an update in the future. It is the ability for squads to predefined ranks within the server environment through a text file(XML,etc). This would allow for squads to edit some strings of code in a file located within the server files to make members Captain, Sgt etc. and would be automatically adjust upon joining the server. Also as an added feature to include the correct patches and name of the solider on their badge. Then maybe add the ability to have certain other achievements, etc to be displayed as well based on a template that has been created. This would probably take awhile to do, but would add more depth and realism to member of a squad/clan. I think it would be possible to do seeing that they already have ID's associated to players that join the servers already, and would take some tweaking to make this all possible. The main part would be for BIS to somehow implement a template to make this all possible, and the community could take it from there and expand upon the idea. Hope some of this made sense, as I was just typing this out from what came to my mind. :) Regards, PaiNx

Does this game check for a CD/DVD?

GoGamer.com has it for $37.90,and that was the cheapest I could find it. Maybe someone found it cheaper somewhere else. http://www.gogamer.com/ArmA-2--I--for-PC-All-PC-Games_stcVVproductId73295699VVcatId444774VVviewprod.htm

Does this game check for a CD/DVD?

Well, I think if you are unsure about the game, then give the demo a try and see how you like it. Any file that is not based on the original exe will trigger "FADE", at least from what I read. "YES" is the answer to the question about the cd/dvd thing, as I have already tried to use my legit back-up of my download to play the game and use the key supplied to me. In the end I had to re-download the whole setup again, so I could play it. I did end up ordering it from GoGamer.com for cheap, so I will have a hard copy coming in the mail here so. With this game(series) you either hate it or love it..... I have played the series since the original Operation Flashpoint, so I am hooked for life on these games. :)

    Floating zone poll

After reading some of the post here, I will have to mess around with the setting to see how I like it. I usually have it turned off, but never really gave it a clear try.
  5. Yeah, I just installed Win7 x64 7100 and I have to say that the performance difference compared to my Vistax64 install is substantial. I am definitely getting a copy of Win7 once it is released in October, and putting Vista to rest. :)

    Why?

Yeah, I hope that one day they will go back to using US Army assets like in the original OFP. They have alot more pretty toys to mess around with, and would like to have the AH-64 to use not through the method of a mod either.
  7. I can't wait to try this out once I get my boxed copy of the game. I have a digital version, but had to kill my system and I don't want to take the time to download it again. And yes Sahrani is very populated with buildings, etc.... It used to crunch my system back in the day :p Now I wish the OFP island could look this good once ported to the new engine..... Just a dream

Question about cd-key rights / use

Well, I was able to use my key on and NA copy after they released the v1.14 patch to get rid of the cd check. This was a downloaded version from Morphicon??, so I think once this happens to ArmA II you should be able to do the same thing. I hope I am right on this statement......

    Very Slow Missiles

Yeah, I noticed this the other day when I was doing some SecOp missions and an Su was flying over killing tanks. Then all of the sudden there was a missile slowing going just above my head, and I found it to be a rather funny site to see.
  10. It has definitely been a bad distro here in the US, maybe because they think people will download it more than purchase a hard copy. I myself rarely get a digital copy of any game, because I want the freedom of being able to install it whenever I want and however many times I want. Another thing about digital copies is that you should get a back-up dvd sent to you regardless and also have the ability to install infinite amount of times. What if the company goes belly up, well than you are screwed out of a game and money. They should have went with a different publisher here in the states. I have not see one copy of the game on the shelf in any of my local retailers. Another thing I was thinking for people that purchased through PeterGames about the activation, etc. They should have a section on the webpage to allow people to type the activation key in an just download the exe. to launch the game, and not the whole damn thing all over again. I have a perfectly working back-up made and can't use it for that very reason, as it ask me for the correct disk. Just some random thoughts......
  11. Just ordered my copy from GoGamer.com, and they are having a price reduction on the 505 version of ArmA II right now. $37.90 + $4.99 shipping Can't beat $42.89 with exped. shipping :) http://www.gogamer.com/ArmA-2--I--for-PC-All-PC-Games_stcVVproductId73295699VVcatId444774VVviewprod.htm I already have the PeterGames DL version, but re-installed OS and don't feel like downloading that thing again. I can't wait for BIS to release the patch that doesn't require the CD. I was able to burn the extracted files to CD and it installs correctly, but it needs the first initial file from downloading to activate it. They should have done a different method for people to activate it, or included the activation file within the extracted files I burned on disc. Kinda sucks, so now I am stuck waiting for my hard copy to come in the mail :(

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Yeah Soldner had alot going for it, but failed in the end due to development constraints. Like Bulldogs said I will buy the game regardless because this is the type of game I get into the most and play them all. My heart still holds it's spot for some old-school OFP :)

ArmA2 Sighted At Best Buy 17 July

Sweet, I will have to keep a look out at my local shops for it then. Thanks for the heads up :)
  14. Yeah, I totally agree about the HDR effect thing. It doesn't really make any sense as I have been out in the sun and never had that wierd effect happen to me. There should be an option to just turn it off or they should rethink the whole idea that were trying to achieve with this setting.

    ArmAII-Mark

Texture Detail - Normal Anisotropic Filtering - Normal Terrain Detail - Normal Objects Detail - Normal Shadow Detail - Normal PostProcess Effects- Low Cpu - Phenom 2 940 (3.0ghz) Ram - Mushkin Ascent 4GB DDR2 1066 GPU - Saphire 4870 HD 1GB OS - Vista x64 Resolution - 1920x1200 Normal Score - 3130.58 Not too bad.... Any other resolution looks like crap, so I keep it at 1920x1200. The game is still very playable, and have had no problems at all.
