  1. Ok I've been searching this thread for about an hour now and I'm more confused now than I was before I started. Maybe someone here can help me. I'm looking to buy a decent PC that I'll be able to play ARMA 2 on low/normal settings. I'm almost clueless when it comes to PCs but I think its time for me to buy something I can at least play this game on. My budget is somewhat limited (like I said I just want to be able to play on low or normal settings) so I can't get the best hardware out there. I've heard people say the best thing is to buy the components and build it yourself, since that's cheaper, but I just don't know I have the technical know-how. Can somebody point me in the direction of an already put together piece that I could buy to get where I wanna be? Thanks
  2. No bullet travels that fast. Several km/s is like ICBM and space shuttle speed.

    ArmA2 - The Xbox 360 thread

    Good post Phantom Fury.
  4. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but, did anyone else notice they took the "To be be released on PC and next gen console" off the website? It used to be in a box in the middle on the right side, but now its gone.
  5. Any news on the console release? They don't say much about consoles in the PC release date articles. I haven't heard anything official since Ivan Buchta said they would be released simultaneously in this video. http://tr.youtube.com/watch?v=0w_DsS43ZOI&feature=related
  6. There sure is a lot of complaining going on about the screenshots and videos. If you guys have some ideas, go to the suggestions forum and make a thread. The game isn't out yet, its not finished. Everyone needs to relax You're screaming for realism and then you proclaim your entire squad will be carrying AT-4s.
  7. This isn't the best example, but its a pretty good one that I was able to find quickly. If you watch this video at about 1:10-1:15 you'll hear some Canadian troops and how they call out hostile fire. If you watch the last few seconds of the video you can hear what sounds like a NCO telling his men "I want to orient you to the west..." It just goes to show there are many different ways of doing things. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-eD_Lo61rAw Personally, I'm cool with either way of calling out contacts as long as they fix up the voices so they don't sound like HAL from 2001 Space Odyssey.

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

That would be pretty cool, but I doubt it will happen. BIS prides itself on realism, but having 90 TLAMs and being able to launch one every 10 seconds or so would be pretty unfair.

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

Thanks for copying and pasting a bunch of information I was already aware of. Nowhere in all that text did it say the USMC was part of the US Navy. ------------------ Speaking of the KC-130J, it's doubtful, but I wonder if this will be implemented in the game. http://www.marinecorpstimes.com/news/2008/04/marine_gunship_042308w/

    ArmA II: The Vehicles

The USMC is most definitely NOT part of the US Navy. Yes, they operate under the Department of the Navy, but regardless they're their own branch of the US armed forces. I'd like to see the reaction of a Marine if you told him he was part of the US Navy.

    Helicopters engine starting

I agree that it doesn't have to take as long as it does in real life, but startup for the helicopters and the M1A2 should take at least like ten 7-10 seconds. The Abrams has a jet turbine engine that needs to warm up before the tank even has electrical power. Listen to it start up and you'll agree that it should at least take a few seconds. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5068487091208077058

    Ghillie Suits?

Two things I'd like to touch on here is that first off, if BIS is trying to be as realistic as possible, than a big part of what Razor team is there to do is special reconnaissance. That means staying undetected for long periods of time behind enemy lines. Would a ghillie suit be helpful in this situation? Of course, but if we're trying to be as realistic as possible, than its not really feasible. Ghilie suits are extremely hot, heavy and uncomfortable. Generally speaking you can't wear them if your doing anything other than sitting in a hide sit or stalking. I hope we don't see any Marines in ghillie suits doing "night sabotages." That wouldn't work too well in a game that takes pride in how realistic it is.

    M40A3 and combat Knife

The SEALs don't use the M24 or any variant of it. It might look similar to an M24 because they're both Remington 700 actions, but thats where the similarities end. The bolt action the SEALs typically use is a Remington 700 action in a McMillian stock. NSWC Crane then makes some of its own adjustments. Its not even chambered for 7.62 like the M24. Its the bigger .300 Win Mag. Just like you guys I'm not sure why they didn't include the M40. Even if it was because the M24 was ready to go like W0lle said, they could have just made the M40A1 which wouldn't require much work at all to be adapted from an M24.
