    Windows 8

Good idea, I'm goanna try it. How long did it take for you to boot up? I'm very surprised at how fast it boots, I installed it on to my other hard drive and it was damn quick! :butbut: The boot menu you get if you have 2 operating systems is also nice and graphical, not like the old DOS like interference. After getting the start menu back (and seeing less of the Metro UI) I'm pretty much pleased with windows 8: My only two recommendations before they release: - Option to bring the start menu back - Option to go right in to the desktop after log on - not the Metro UI I read that Microsoft confirmed there will be an app store, so you can either buy applications from it or you can download them from the company’s website like now. To me it’s kind of pointless but I think if they design the "app store" properly it will help casual people find software, install it etc... much more easily then now - Google around for it etc... so I don't think there is any harm in having it as long as you don’t have to use it if you don’t want to. However I don't like the word "app" seems like some teenager word to me.

I don't want to celebrate anyone’s death but it’s better for Libya and for Col. Ghadafii that he passed away because now it’s just over and Libya can turn a clean page without any court proceedings, memories and all that. Besides, he would either get sentanced to life enprisonment or get tortured in jail or sentenced to death anyway. Although its happy time for Libya now with the victory and all that, I don't think that this time next year or a few years down the line people will be so joyful and some may even remember Col Ghadaffi if the new government doesn’t turn out the way people think it will. I've seen it happen in my own country so I'm not so optimistic - but I really hope to be proven wrong. But I do congratulate Libya on their victory and for successfully doing what they set out to do even if they had help from NATO and I hope that all the lives lost were not lost for nothing and I hope that Libya will not become just a pawn on NATOs checkerboard but that we will see lots of improvements, development and a country that the world can be proud of.

    Windows 8

I know, I'm never said that everyone is suddenly going to switch to Windows 8 - I'm going to stay with windows 7 for a long time to come, however there will come the time when people and companies will start to make the switch and it's important to watch how the OS is developing and leave some feedback for the beta. The way in which the OS develops will also influence new applications which is important if you work in that field e.g. if this Metro UI catches on lot’s applications will be made to integrate with it instead of focusing on the old desktop.

    Windows 8

If I understand you correctly you mean if you have to format your hard drive after to remove Windows 8? Then the answer is no, you don't have to format, re-boot or do anything like that, you can install Windows 8 using a Virtual Machine which is a program that lets you run a different OS on your current OS, something like running ArmA 2 in window mode. It will make a virtual hard disk (a file) which you can then put in the recycle bin and delete as usual when you are done testing w8. Download VirtualBox (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,71402/description.html) And the follow this tutorial that I found for you: http://www.pcworld.com/article/240117/how_to_download_and_install_windows_8_into_a_virtual_machine.html

    Windows 8

Well I understand what you mean, but what is the problem in holding on to what you are used to if it works for you? I've been clicking the start button to find my applications since Windows 95 and it works, so why change it and get used to something else that will give me the same result? As they say "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" You probably won't be surprised but I still have the My Computer icon on my desktop (I can access it trough the start button and I do when I'm in an application). When I'm on the desktop I just ram my mouse in to the top left corner of the screen and double click. Why? Because it’s easier - I don't want to look trough the start menu for find it and also because that’s what I've been doing since I Windows 95. I hope they make it an option That's very similar to Gnome 3, but I still think it's unnecessary to take up the whole screen with giant icons just to start an application with your mouse pointer which is 20x20 pixels. All I see if that they are following the design process of other OS's while making something that was tried and proven for 16 years and what really made Windows take off more complicated and less user friendly for people who have a mouse I don't understand why they are showing touch screens on to PC's, it’s absolutely useless because the easiest way and sometimes the only sensible way to do some things on a PC is to use a mouse - e.g. 3D modelling. I bet your arm would hurt pretty bad after using a touch screen for 8 hours every day at work Because when its released its a bit too late to change something, but if you tell them now they will think about it again, don’t think that Microsoft doesn’t read all the rants about Windows 8 on the internet. And also when you work professionally on a computer you have to worry about how your work OS is developing

Completely Synthetic Human Bodies for medics.

Damn that’s cool, and kind of creepy because it doesn’t have any skin and all the pipes going in to it, like something from a UFO ship  But I don't understand, how do they manufacture it? It's synthetic so is it from some kind of material that has almost the same properties as human tissue or they use human tissue to somehow grow this material which has living cells like the original tissue? Anyway way, this will be very valuable for training. I looked on the SynDaver website and the full human body with muscles costs $13000, which isn't that much for large institutions, I thought it will be much more expensive like $100 000. But other stuff on the website like single veins and organs aren't too expensive too so it would be possible to use them in schools too, (obviously to more mature students not 9 year old kids). How fascinating, maybe in a couple of years we will be able to order real organs like this on the internet when we get sick.

I guess you don't really understand what passion means do you? Well, nobody is perfect; one day you will discover the meaning. But think about it, every time you get on the train, in your car or in to an airplane. Every time that machine start to move your life is in danger until it stops and you get out, while you're inside your fait hangs on nuts and bolts that could come apart at any time without you knowing. So is it worth it to take the train if you can walk? Would it be fair not to care about you if it does happen and leave you there injured because you knew the risk? It's pointless talking to you, like if you talk to a wall. I've left my condolences in this thread and I'm not going to argue with you anymore, so just do the same thing and let others post their condolences too instead of getting the thread locked.

    Windows 8

I Goggled it and all that I found is that you can get the classic start menu back by doing this: Do you know if there is any other way? However I have to be negative again, that's a bit too complicated for regular users, most people don't even know what the registry is and they shouldn't have to just to change this. There should be a easy check box in the taskbar properties letting you change which menu you want to use. I'm pretty optimistic that this menu will change in the final version tough and there will probably be an option to use the classic one

    Marco Simoncelli killed in Sepang

I agree with that, if people were to stop doing everything that is deemed to be dangerous we wouldn't be able to do anything, there would be no medicine, absolutely nothing... People race because they love it and they are good at it. I have no connection to it and I'm not good at it so I'm not a race car driver. If race drivers know that they love it so much that they rather take the risk, and they weight up the risks properly, let them do it. If they didn't weigh up the risks first, their fault and they will pay the price, not you. What is the point of them sitting at home worried about their life if the thing that they want to do most in life is race but they can't? That defeats the point of life. Life is a gamble, you win some and you lose some, everything is a risk, without a risk there would be no fun in life, no progress and without death there would be no life. But its basic human solidarity to pay respects to someone who has died no matter why and how they died. If you can't do that don't say anything at all and nobody will want to burn you at a stake. Being disrespectful to a dead person is just as dangerous as motor racing sometimes Wisdom is your best friend in life

    Windows 8

Hello everyone, Some new information on Windows 8: The developer BETA is out and can be downloaded here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/apps/br229516 I tested it and so far this has basically changed (this isn't everything but things that you will fist notice): The new Metro UI is now the default user interference where as the old desktop seems to be a legacy app that you can access from the metro UI. (You can see the Metro UI pop-up over the desktop sometimes like when you click start or insert a removable disk etc... meaning that Metro is the new "Windows" and the desktop is just an extra optional app - at least that what I think, I may be wrong) The start menu has been removed, replaced with a metro menu with 4 options. When you click the start button or press the Windows key you are taken to the Metro home screen where you can launch apps etc... The control panel has been re-designed and integrated in to the Metro UI Explorer (when you switch to the desktop) now has the ribbon .ISO images can now be mounted directly using Windows Task manager has been re-designed Some screenshots: My thoughts on the BETA: The only thing that I like in the BETA is the integrated .ISO support. I think if released like this the OS will be good for people who only do social networking and basic internet browsing on some kind of tablet device. The OS will be a pain in the ass for advanced users and developers. I don't like that they removed the start button and force me to switch to a new UI with giant icons just to start a new program. I means seriously... the start button is the main place on the computer for me where I go to do basically everything - launch programs, search for programs, open disks etc... taking this away takes away 90% of my PC's usability – I don’t want to do this trough the Metro UI because its pointlessly complicated and the UI is ugly. I shouldn't be forced to ever switch in to the Metro UI if I don't want to, it’s good for touch screens and pads but not for me, I don't ever want to see it on my work PC. I don't like the ribbon in Explorer, I find it useless in Explorer and pointlessly cluttering the screen, but I can live with it - would be cool if I can hide it tough, probably I can. I don't want to be forced to see the "lock" screen on my PC, it’s kind of useless for me – but I’m sure there is an option to turn it off - I haven’t checked out everything in the BETA yet. If they don't force me to ever see the Metro UI on my PC and give the start button back it will be a great OS, otherwise it’s useless to people who use it for work because it unnecessarily complicates basic things mainly by removing the start menu. But it’s just a BETA so let’s wait and see  That’s my opinion on it, what do you guys think?

I'll keep my 2002 VW Passat 1.9 TDi with standard factory seats, I've been pretty much everywhere in Europe with it, the Balkans, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Russia, Kavkaz, Turkey and so on... One day I wanna go to Vorkuta, got an aunt there.

  16. Will do, as I said to Krycek, I might even add villages from Google Earth if time allows me to
  17. Nah, the communists already pushed him off the balcony 100 years ago now its state owned. So just join the party and do what general Guba did and you'll have your own army But stay away from the Malden islands and Nogova. No, I will replace them with a lava texture or I'll finish the satellite mask and add dummy villages from Google Earth so it looks like something is there from the air.
  18. A look at Dorianov. The OFP houses are back. Highway exit and a mixed forest (after I got complaints that there is not enough variation of trees). And finally a look at castle "Sokoli Gňjazdo" (Falcons nest). I still have to add some vegetation inside but that will be done tomorrow. Bah in Eastern Europe, health and safety doesn’t exist Ah, secret of the trade, if I told you, BIS would read it and wouldn’t need to hire me
  19. Mile stone 1 passed Hello everyone, I'm very pleased to inform you that I have passed mile stone 1 - This means that I have completely finished the valley in the North and I will now be moving back in to the capital city, to fix bugs. I still have a bit of tweaks to do tomorrow in the valley however, fix roads that aren't showing up on the map and update the satellite mask before its 100£% done, nothing long tough. Anyway, time for screenshots: First of all, this is for my biggest fan Map of the valley, as you can see I have extended the highway although some pieces don't show (I'm goanna fix that tomorrow). The swamp beside the village of Vinograd, and an old wooden church. This was inspired by Ukraine. (Thanks to my friend Zenger from Ensk Island for letting me use this model) Another shot A look over the fields of the valley, this area was inspired by France (when I went to Châtenay-sur-Seine near Melun I drove through a lot of fields like this and fell in love with them) and Ukraine. I made custom clutter using ArmA 1 clutter (I edited it a bit). I believe this is called Colza in English? And now you know why the flag of Ukraine is blue and yellow.

  21. Haha that made my day But I'm not surprised, can you image what would happen if that photo was seen in the West, he would get sent to the gulag for 1000 years Nowadays you can make pictures of them tough:
  22. Rest in peace and thank you for everything you've done to make people’s lives easier and for letting us use computers the way we do today. Its people like him that are the true kings of peace. It’s a shame that not many news networks talk about this, I didn't see anything on the BBC today so I didn't even know until I came to the BIF, but when someone has a sex scandal the news are full of it.
  23. I had a similar thing happen to me. When I went to a shopping centre (Globus) in my city, in the Czech Republic with my parents last year, my mom made a photo of me and my dad in the main hall where all the shops are etc... A few seconds later we were approached by 4 security guards who threatened to take the memory card out of her camera and brake it... So I started getting very pissed off and I guess they got intimidated and they let us off. I mean, come on... even the communists wouldn't get so gassed up over a 50 year old woman making a picture of her family in a mall, and nobody says anything about freedom now, not even a word, people just walk around with their heads down in deep embarrassment these days. We need some kind of law to protect us in public places, because it seems to me like public places are becoming too private.

US Drone fleet infected with keylogger virus

Well when it first happened to the centrifuges in Iran I was more or less convinced that either Israel of the US was responsible for writing the virus because it occurred at a time when tensions were high, and it seemed quite logical. BUT at the same time something also told me, that if another country seized this opportunity it would be a really good way to add fuel to the fire and make it seem like the West was behind it to provoke Iran. Another thing I thought is that maybe Iran did it themselves to make it seem like the West did it, possibly to test their security systems because the information needed to write it was very in depth, someone had to know the plant. This makes me speculate that maybe Iran attacked the drones with the virus because they have recently unveiled their own home made drone. Other theories: Another speculation is that Russia is behind it because they are in the process of reviving their military and their drones are lagging a bit behind, so they could use information from US drones to learn or to develop some kind of system to take control of US drones if they needed to. But this isn't very likely, however it would be more likely for China. India could possibly be on the list or another possibility is that the US did it themselves to test security or artificially rise tensions with Iran again, because just as in Iran’s case, I assume that you would need to know quite a lot about US drones, but US and Iran can’t both use the same virus to infect themselves... In other words, I'm not sure
