    Demo performance versus Retail/Final?

Whether it is an issue with your machine not acting nice with ARMA2 or not, the performance you get in the demo will be the performance you will get in the full version...until we see major improvements in the coming patches. You were warned :) Don't listen to the others who don't seem to have played Crysis at all or something. I have a machine with much less power than yours and can run nearly ever setting on high with great framerates. Your machine should be fine to run ARMA2, it is just highly unoptimized right now, which is being worked at, when that will be done, I don't know.

Love the models in this game, but...

Woah woah stupidy was not the subject matter at all, as you are clearly smart and have attention to detail. Just saying that you notice these tiny details while your name is windexglow..that's all, easy off buddy :) If you look at my other posts you can be certain that I am not a "fanboy". But this is just a little over the tip. Granted this game has issues but pointing out every UVing issue in this game doesn't fix the major deal breakers in the game right now

Level of satisfaction with forum moderators

We'll see how long this stays up...

    Any news from b.i.???

Oh well guess my post was deleted by the almighty moderators because I wasn't kissing their butt, I'm just glad I'm not the only one here noticing this attitude. My deleted post made a good point and probably was deleted because I used the word "pompous" in a forum where there is rampant profanity by the soldiers in the game. To be perfectly fair Planck is quite mild compared to some of the other moderators, but it is just out of hand now. Sigh...

...IMO That's 20 minutes too much time spent on this! Yeah windexglow..that name makes perfect sense now.

Love the models in this game, but...

Wow, with all the issues in the game relating to gameplay and major technical problems...the thing you decide to get anal over is this!??!?!?! You spent time scouring the land for screenshots too...wow Those cosmetics problems aren't a big deal to me considering how large the landscape is they did a really good job with the terrain I have to say.

    Fixed wing flaps.

I've always been taught by various instructors with different teaching styles to use 10° flaps at all times when taking off except in heavy headwind or crosswind situations that affect the aircraft more with flaps down. Then again I've never taken off on 10000ft. runways (only 5000ft. at the most IIRC). I've never heard of a reason why NOT to use 10° flaps for takeoff for a/c such as the 152/172 because it makes a world of a difference in takeoff distance, especially when you have a heavy passenger. Apologies for saying you didn't know what you were talking about, but I can't think of a reason why your instructors taught you not to use flaps for conventional takeoff...never heard of that before in my career.

    Any news from b.i.???

Thanks, like I said. I wouldn't expect the mods to come down from their pedestal and understand that...which they obviously didn't. They could have said a number of many things: 1) not creating spam and replying uselessly by waving implying "piss off" to users with problems...thus not reply at all maybe!? 2) reply to other posts with legitimate request for more info on what's going on, we don't need an ETA or anything, just a simply weekly update that takes you guys 2 minutes to make would go a long way If the moderators elitist attitude is anything like the developers I can understand why they feel they are too above us to give us any updates. Excellent display of professionalism and maturity and setting an example for forum users.

    Any news from b.i.???

Why reply at all then!? That's my whole point

    Any news from b.i.???

...Then why reply at all, unless you had meant something by it, just think about that. I'm not saying the poster you were replying too was correct, but it honestly feels like a slap in the face when a moderator simply replies with sarcastic wave like that. Especially when some of us check this forum for every shred of progress update, I don't care how long the patch takes, it's just nice to hear what's going. Even EA (or at least their developers) has gotten much better about providing that. Oh well, I guess you can't come down to my level and understand that, except to sarcastically reply to an upset poster. Like my first point, why reply when you are just going to be sarcastic and rude about it? Way to act professional, it's acceptable for me because I am some dumb joe ranting on here, but a moderator should have a level of maturity and professionalism the others do not.

    Fixed wing flaps.

From that statement, you are obviously talking about something you know nothing about.

    Vehicles in-game speed experience

I dunno how to vote with those three choices, the vehicles in general don't feel right at all I was sliding down a hill with a tank and it just slid down sideways like it was on a slip n' slide and weighed the equivalent of a small child. I'm going to install OFP and see, because I feel like the vehicles felt much better.

^ with all due respect...that's the attitude! (/sarcasm) Go ahead and act like your game is perfect and there are no problems...we'd love to hear some development feedback from BIS on what is going on and what's up, better to hear something than nothing at all...even if it takes a long time for the patch to come to fruition. I'm really getting sick of this elitist attitude toward players who genuinely want the potential of this game to shine through all the current bugs and hassles. BIS has really failed to provide updates on their progress to their community except on a few small things, basically all that is updated in the "Announcements" part of the forum is for the stupid Flash Game. You really need to get off your high horse and realize that your community and players would just like info on what's going on...instead of acting nasty towards players who haven't heard a thing in regards to a game they payed for yet haven't been able to play since release. I love this game and will love it more as bugs get worked out, but the attitude of leading members of this forum is quite ridiculous
  14. I dunno why they event spent so much work on another broken campaign like ARMA 1 it was a big waste of their time that could have been spent making the multiplayer a total knockout, instead they fell majorly short in the campaign and also fell short of amazing multiplayer experiences... I can't stop ranting about the missed potential of this game that is like no other that I love none the less. They really should stop making shoddy singleplayer stuff and concentrate on where this game really shines...the multiplayer, you would think they would learn their lesson by now

Throttle & Afterburner control in planes

You have no idea how happy I am not that this is being worked out!
  16. This is still a idiotic argument. I mean I guess you guys who have slow, intermittent internet are not trying make a point but just venting a bit. Cause nothing can or will ever be done about it and that is that...no point discussing something that won't change if you have no, little, or limited internet access. First off if you are downloading the game and paying for it, you know the filesize you know what it costs you, you know what speed it's going, you know how long it will take. So shutup and stop whining when you very well know the price and situation. What the hell do you want BIS to do it and what is venting your situation going to do to change everything. Do you want BIS to reduce a game sizes to only 3MB so you can download ARMA2 in a reasonable time? I could go on, but what is the point. I see your view and your situation, but your internet, and your downoad speeds are your problem not the developer's and they only have time to cater towards the 99.9%, it's just not feasable to worry about that guy who is on a boat in the south pacific with intermittent and slow access. Same goes for those who have to pay expensive rates for internet, they can't reduce their file size because of you. Jeez, what the hell is going on?

    Autothrottle?

This game is so much fun but... I'm learning more and more that it is nothing more than OFP with a major cosmetics overhaul and ARMA with more stability other than that, they haven't really fixed many of the base issues that have been a problem since OFP...I dunno where their priorities lie 1. AI driving is pathetic 2. The throttle and even the whole flight model is sub-par compared even to BF2 in some ways :( 3. The outdated interface 4. Laggy and highly unoptimized netcode But by golly, the graphics are pretty aren't they?! Oh well, the game that could have been, but that doesn't mean I won't be playing it because it's all we've got.
  18. Everyone hopes that the game they are waiting for "gets it right". But you honestly can't expect the developers to not come out with a slew of patches in the wake of a release. Tell me a game, especially a simulator, that has not had dozens of patches after their release. No matter how good a PC game is, it is just a fact of PC gaming life that patches will be required. It's always been this way since patching has been possible and it doesn't look to change anytime soon.

    Analog Throttle Control

Yeah it is one of the more pathetic "features" of ARMA2, using an X52 here as well. The game is really only as strong as it's weakest link, and this makes the flying part of the game extremely weak :(
  20. IMO, ARMA2 is supremely more superior and stable than ARMA1 and I applaud them for that. Again, that is just my point of view and my experiences with it. I was so pissed and dissapointed with ARMA1 that I got temporarily banned from the forum because I was venting so much of my anger. The game was more or less unplayable for me as I never go to do more than a couple missions because of so many crashes and was only able to do minor stuff in the editor before a crash and forget about multiplayer. From the way I see it, I notice by leaps and bounds the improvements they have made since then.
  21. I'm sorry but I have to disagree, their multiplayer sector is the weakest part of ARMA2 right now, they have a lot of work to do on that end. For single player that are limitless possibilities such as: 1. Campaign, it's never the same experience twice 2. Single player missions, again just like OFP and ARMA1 the experience is never the same 3. The Armory, I've found myself eating up time just using one vehicle at a time in the armory and doing all the challenges that come up 4. The Editor, this is the feature I've used the most and you could go forever and not get bored of this. You can make wars, simulate scenarios, create your own missions, whatever you want to do in the ARMA2 world Trust me, in the state that multiplayer is at now you aren't missing much. The major FPS drop, the lag and stutter on even the servers I have the best connection to, and the horrible layout of multiplayer in general. I understand the situation you are coming from, but it is unrealistic for BIS to spend an extra 6 month to a year to perfect their system when their publisher is making them release and they need to make money on a relatively finished product. Every PC game...especially simulators like ARMA2, go through many patches after release, the patches sometimes even come out before release. If you've played PC games for a while you should know what you signed up for when it comes to patching and you can't except for BIS to cater to the 0.1% when they have a business to run. Again, I don't understand the complaint or what you want BIS to do about it, it's a natural phenomena of the PC gaming industry when it comes to patching.
  22. Yeah I don't understand what the problem was/is? Post didn't have a point from my point of view
  23. Playing AAS last night I was sick of snipers picking us off at the closest base to theirs. I found a mounted heavy machine gun nest and was able to turn the graphics on the very lowest settings at the same time b/c my FPS was really choppy, two things I noticed: 1. My FPS shot strait up and was smoothe 2. I could easy all the snipers in the tree line like christmas lights b/c of the color contrast between them and the ground and even the surrounding trees. They were about 200-400m out but were a very distinguinshable black and gray dot amongs the greens and browns. I just fired 10-15 rounds at that area and it always got the guy. It's didn't feel fair b/c earlier when I had bushes and objects rendering at higher quality I could have never seen them. They really need to do something about that.
  24. Does anyone know if the STEAM pre-order gave out the soundtrack? if so I never got a notice over it. If not, is there a way I could purchase/download the soundtrack? Thanks guys.
  25. Yeah you have a wicked awesome machine! Hopefully patches will fix the chokepoints that are keeping your machine from shining
