  1. BF2 is much better than that game, please don't bring BF2 to that low level. At least BF2 has large player and DEDICATED servers...DR, what a crock. I see now ARMA2 (for thoughtful simulation play) and BF2/Project Reality (for psuedo-tactical/run and gun play) are where it is at for the time being.

    Dragon Rising has been released

I got to play on a friend's PC who had an xbox 360 controller and played the first two campaign missions. I thought the graphics were decent, the game ran smoothe as could be as opposed to Arma where graphics are beautiful but it doesn't run that great and choppy at important points in the game, just to compare. With the PC controls the game is just horrid. It is just pointless. With the xbox 360 controller it works great. So you get the fun controls of a console but the much better graphics from the PC, it was much better playing with the controller. I liked the command control system, it was easy to maneuver units just using the controller, you can see the game was optimized for consoles from the way they did the interface and controls. I liked the level of fun to realism. It wasn't COD and it wasn't Arma but somewhere between. I enjoyed the first two minutes quite a bit. The FLIR was way overrated. The shooting is nothing compared to Arma but the game is still fun and that's what is important to me. The worst part of this game is the multiplayer...no dedicated, no join in progress, and lacking the scale that Battlefield or even COD have. It was just pathetic and that is a major deal breaker. In summary, the game is fun, has amazing performance (albeit the missions seem very scripted and triggered...not dynamic), and great single player missions. The game is lacking many features expected in games made since 2001 (Join-in-Progress, and dedicated server). The features the game has are way overrated. I will NOT be buying this game and am pretty dissapointed with this. This game is lacking basic multiplayer features that are key to replayability. I'll finish the campaign at my friend's but I won't be playing it or buying it beyond that...but the game is fun, just not buyable
  3. Yeha I've seen mods redo polls because there were no negative options, they should do the same in this one, but then again this one is about their game :) I don't think any of them are good as flight models are concerned...doesn't mean they aren't fun. I'll vote when more even options are made

Yeah because all game are reviewed based on their realism level... It's comparing completely different things. Maybe it got an 8/10 because it was fun? Why would Official Xbox 360 magazine care about realism!? Just playing devil's advocate. But that is just so close minded and ignorant to think this game is going to be reviewed base on it's realism. That went out the window a long time ago.

Well if the truth comes out when the game is out and destroys the game then what exactly is the problem? Let them lie all they want then, it won't make a difference. You made my point for me. They can lie about the features in their games and it may work for the short-run but in the end it'll blow up in their face. Not need to get all worked up cause of something they lied about before the game is released. I'll get back on topic, feel free to whine and moan about whatever you want in the mean time, just wanted to point out how ridiculous it's getting. I can't get access to CM's forum at work, does anyone know if they have improved the amount of players on either PC or Console recently, also have they announced any fixed wing aircraft?

Why are you giving me advice on thinking before typing? Are you the one that designed it...everyone on here complaining and whining about a name had no part in designing or creating the original Flashpoint, including you. So my point still stands, why are people who have nothing to do with the original name and aren't planning on even playing or trying out OFPDR feel the need to whine and cry that a name got taken? ARMA has made a name for itself, of course not with quite the reputation of the original Flashpoint name, but what is crying and getting mad at CM going to do. They don't care, why should all of you get so hot and bothered by it? In response to that video, it's all about the $$. People will say whatever they want to sell more copies. Do you really blame them? I don't care about the name of the game (it could be called "Super Awesome Shooter") or the Ads ("This is ultimately the best game ever!!!"). I'm just upset there is no demo on console for me to try it out and judge for myself. Not bashing them, I just feel that was a very bad decision.

I have to say I go on here once in a while to hear realistic opinions of what features will be in CM's Flashpoint. Lately all it has turned into a OFPDR bashfest...nothing mature about it at all really. Anyways, it's all speculation until the demo comes out. Odds are I'm not getting the game because there will be no demo for consoles, and that is the system I wanted to play it on. The mods should redo the poll options given the fact that: a) There is no demo for consoles b) The PC demo will be released after launch now No need to go on a bashing spree, especially if you haven't had first hand experience of the game anyways. The game might be a ton of fun in many ways, I'll never know unless they release a console demo or I get to play at friend's place. Those of you crying about taking the name needs to just get over it. You really have too much time if it is of any concern of yours. Play the game you like and stop wasting your time bashing a game you aren't getting anyhow....jeez

    Indian army

I mean it's all relative right? Bad compared to what exactly? If you choose the comparison between the British Military in the 18th century and the current Indian military, then of course you will choose "Excellent" We are all assuming this is being compared to a 1st world modern military. Which given the choices is bad. Relatively they are not average, nor excellent. Granted, they have totally ramped up their acquisitions of latest generation weaponry and do have their own stockpile of nuclear munitions, but they do not compare to the big guys at all. This is really a silly poll...even for off-topic and wanted to waste my own time responding :)

    Do I want this game?

In my experience...ARMA 2 takes work. It is not like COD in the respects that you and your son can just sit down and have a go at it for 30 minutes and expect to have "fun" it is more of an experiment/study military sim in the ways I use it. It is not streamlined or has the simplistic interfaces necessary for quick casual play. If you want something above COD and still want a quick play I might recommend the Battlefield series. I play COD and Battlefield and I play COD on the hardcore settings to help un-noob it as much as possible and it is a ton of fun for semi-mindless play. But you really need to invest time into ARMA2, just keep that in mind. Not saying you won't like ARMA2 but you really can't compare the "gaming" experience of ARMA to COD

Well I want to decide for myself on this game, you guys really need to cut out the bashing... It's disappointing news about the demo, definitely not getting the game if there is no demo, and if there is no demo coming out on console...it isn't happening. The game might end up being good but I'll never know without a demo to try myself.

is there a DEMO out yet for OFPDR? The Codemasters forum is blocked at work, luckily not the BIS one...yet :)
  12. I never play MP, maybe once a week I try it out but it never clicks with me at all and there is nothing fun about it...singleplayer with the editor is where I've been 99% of my time in ARMA2

    ArmA 2 on PlayStation 3

Thanks, what presentations videos do you speak of (link?)...I have no idea where to go with that statement. I can only speak from personal experience that the PS3 ended being much better for AI and mathematically intensive computations....depending on how the game was implemented would affect whether it would run better on the 360 or the PS3 I would guess... I don't see why the hell BIS can't just say one way or the other if they are working on some kind of console version or not to clear things up for everyone.

    ArmA 2 on PlayStation 3

I'm already planning on getting the PS3 now that it is cheaper! I worked with a small developer on an xbox live game for a few months, it took a year to become mature enough for release but it turned out the 360 coudln't keep all the nice graphics they wanted and still maintain the framerate with the heavy AI computations in this game. Ended up quickly porting over to PS3 because of the added power under the hood. Since I don't have a PS3 yet, I've yet to play it in the final stage! Seeing as that was a relatively simple xbox live game, it only made sense to me that they (BIS) would go for the PS3, no clue why they were trying to get this game into an Xbox360 in the first place...so I hope this rumor is true, where in the hell did you even hear this or are you just stirring mischief? I love my xbox360 but I can't see how it has the power to play ARMA2 decently, so hear's hoping for a PS3 release!
  15. this really is a must have addon! I can't get over how much better that is!! -Long range tank battles, you actually see the two tanks! -Long range air combat...you actually see the two aircraft instead of it firing at an invisible target 6000m away There are an infinite ways to see how this improves the feel and immersion of the game, hopefully these settings will become integrated into an official patch. thanks once again for this.
  16. I am learning to appreciate the community for fixing small things that BIS should have done on their own and seems to have purposely relied on the community to take care of these issues..it's rather sad :( Thanks so much for this necessary add on. I was making large battles using the desert (afghan) addon map but jets would just pop up at 2000m no matter what view distance...thanks so much for this addon, the battles look much better!

District 9: The Movie. Your views.

yeah the swearing was totally over the top and a little silly...but the movie itself was amazing and I loved it, one of the best movies ever if it ididn't include the unnecessary swearing I hate how people feel the need to do that

A Statement about BIS. What do you think?

Oh okay cool. In regards to the OP...I'm not quite sure if I know what he/she is getting at but: I am loving all the addons that people are coming with and all the addons are increasing the game multiple times over with each new addons. However, it would be really incredibely awesome if BIS developed some way of managing all these modifications in a very standard/universal manner. I'm not talking about a mod-manager, but a special website/repository that can manage the addons and ensure consistency and quality control...almost like official endorsed addons if you will. I don't really know what I mean but maybe something similar to how it is done in the Sims 3 exchange? That will allow quality addons implemented into ARMA2 to be categorized in one repository

    Arma 2 Aircraft

You are completely incorrect mate. What people forget about physics when it comes to aircraft, is the aerodynamic aspect of it. I could go into the math but basically the wing is what is lifting the entire airframe and allowing it to fly. Thus the force distribution is almost always pointing up hence "lifting" the wing. The downward force of the outer stores comes into affect heavily on the landing impact velocity and a little on extremely high-g+lowlift maneuvers that are rarely encountered and, if so, the pilot will probably have the sense to jettison the outer stores if the emergency rises that he/she needs to pull such a maneuver. Here are examples of aircraft with large weapons for outer stores (including iron bombs and LGBs) A-10 Loadout F-18 Loadout Such a loadout DOES exist in real life. Back to the topic...if you have ARMA1 you should definitely try out the F-18E/F mod that has the ability to customize loadouts and everything in game right at the airbase. It is absolutely superb!
  21. Absolutely, but it always depends on the types of people playing on the servers. I was on one last night with a bunch of kids running as admin for their clan server and I was on it since I had such an awesome latency to it. The kids were using very cheap tactics to gain points that really didn't make the game any more fun. However the other night I was on a server with more mature players that were able to setup nice ambushes and main assaults while other squads performed flanking maneuvers it was pretty awesome. I can't wait for the Project Reality team to come out with their patch that supports 1.5 :)

    FP : DR - News & Discussion

Exactly, so I'm hoping as much as you seem to be that both JIP and non-JIP are implemented in OFPDR so we are all happy and get to choose! If not, it all depends on how it is implemented in the demo to get a good idea of how JIP works out...like I said not much info from the preview so it's all speculative but it's not something I'm looking forward to. I'd like to hear some good news about OFPDR..which I really haven't heard lately. ---------- Post added at 05:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:58 PM ---------- I see! FP : DR - News & Discussion

You obviously didn't look at my post all the way or have see any of my posts as I am clearly not a fanboy of ARMA by any stretch of the imagination...read it again please. Understandable about opinion, and of course what I stated was my own opinion...I was not enforcing it onto anyone, why do you feel so defensive about my statement about how I feel about JIP, whether it is in the game or not..it was just what the preview stated and my opinion of it? If you like it then great, if not great too! The point of a forum, especially off-topic is to state your opinion so it was obviously my point of view and opinion about that feature...didn't know I had to clearly state that. But imagine if games modes in ARMA2, Battlefield 2, or even COD did not have JIP ability! It would be horrible when games last around 30minutes-Multiple Hours. I don't know about you, but I have a life and things that force me to get off and on a game during a given evening. I like the ability to join a game that is in progress and quickly get into the fight. It may work in America's Army where the rounds are relatively short and I can see that, but like I just stated above...for convenience purposes it does not and would not work on a game with such scale as ARMA, BF2, or even COD in some cases due to the length of the rounds...eventually the population would drop so low at the end that you wouldn't have anyone to shoot at. Since OFPDR sounds to be of similar scales as at least BF2 the rounds are going to be just as long or longer...I could be wrong though, again my opinion :) In my mind, yes it is a step backwards and pathetic as it is probably a technical issue (not a gameplay reason) of why then may/maynot have JIP. Back in the day, when I had more time on my hands, Rainbow Six was not JIP, you would have to join a map that had players getting reading to start and you'd have to way upwards of 15min just to get the rounds going, I couldn't imagine having to do that now and like the convenience of JIP...again that's my opinion on the issue. Just to be clear this time... DISCLAIMER: This is my opinion. Any statements above do not reflect the opinions or ideals of any other party, group, company, or individual. These statements are purely speculative and opinion based and do not have any factual information to back them up. These opinionated statements stem from me and only me and should not be taken as fact or referenced for anything of substance.

You obviously didn't bother to read two pages before where someone clearly posted a summary to a preview with the external link...source validated I assumed I didn't have to put the whole quite in there and just quoted the snipping assuming that people reading this forum would have at least read the last two pages in this thread...oh well I assumed wrong.
