Quick Question About Addons. Then and Now.
colkurtz replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
You almost lost me after I read the word "unbinarized" but I understand. I'd probably would need a "baby steps" guide to modding" before i'm anywhere near able to create anything of use. -
Quick Question About Addons. Then and Now.
colkurtz replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Couple of quick questions Will modders now be able to remodel helmets, faces etc with these tools? Will it now be more straightforward for the community modders to create additional features i.e fastroping and better tracers? Are there any more modding tools that BIS need to release ? -
Very good news BIS just please make sure you're still committed to improve arma1.

Geforce 7800 to a 8800 GTS 640MB?Core do

Has anyone overcome their arma/8800 problems and if so what drivers did you use and what settings are you running at now? -
I'll defintely buy it despite the expansion's content sounding a little dull and sparse, I was hoping for more missions in the campagin as well as a few enhancements to the game's features. BIS on the whole have been good to us and do deserve some support.
-
Agreed, some of the comments do really belong in the Awesome thread. I can understand being disappointed with the campagin, or accuracy of the modelling textures, bugs, armour ratios or lack options in the game and so forth. But if someone is disappointed for a reason that is not really the Game's fault and is more to do with their PC, then i think that it's not unreasonable for the other members of the community to try and shed a little light on what the real issue that's causing the distress with the game might be. The game is far from perfect but need people to take time to enquiry if they are able to solve technical problems that are causing them untold grief.

"IDEA games will release TexView2, Fileblank, Oxygen 2 and Visitor 3 gradually by the start of next week." Ahem for the benefit of the 'non modder folk' does anyone care to elaborate on what TexView2, Fileblank, Oxygen 2 and Visitor 3 are, and what modders in theory can achieve with them.

Hey you pissed no one off, its a free discussion forum as i understand it.
-
When the tools come out the community will probably do all the addons that folks like you and me are crying out for. And as BIS have said 'Tools time' is soon.

what has this got to do with the queens gambit expansion?

Couldn't agree more Bravo 6, Lets hope they spend some of that money on employing more staff, to enable them to deliver what they promised the first time around. Funny how they manage to create this version of it though; http://www.vbs2.com/media/movies/vbs2_trailer_4.wmv and some how that version just doesn't look buggy to me. http://www.vbs2.com I can understand your frustration but you must realise that BAS is a different company with a vastly different product targeted at a specific enduser market. They obviously were able to throw more resources to deliver their product compared to BIS. You're always welcome to purchase VBS2 if you're so absolutely unhappy about these features missing in Arma. In time these features may be developed independently for Arma by BIS or modders, so i wouldn't worry about their current exculsion.

@ Vilas I've had 3 crashes post 1.08 and they've all been caused by dodgy addons. I'm not sure what your setup is but might be worth a complete reinstallation minus addons, after checking you gfx drivers, memory and all the other pc stuff is a ticking over smoothly. Apologies if you already done so. But the game for me really enjoyable and relatively problem free post 1.08, sure there are a few irritating features or lack of them, as well as a few legacy bugs here or there, but on the whole there's a lot more positives than negatives in Arma now.

Hey nice screens, better than those horrible merc ones. But I would have liked to have seen some new addons, I'm going to stay positive on this and wait for BIS to make an official statement on what to expect. I'm praying for tracers, fast roping and improved Opfor models to be included but that may be a wish too far.
-
Those queens gambit screens really remind me of that piece of crap called Soldner, boy was that S*** I'm not particularly keen on mercs or private military contractors as there are now officially classified, especially ones wearing shorts or funky village people style headgear. But relax folks I'm sure BIS will clear things up a little, as they are well aware that their community are baying for the Arma mod tools to be released asap.

Ugh, this looks like something the cat dragged in. Not what i was hoping for but its still early days.

Performance and bugs of course. But realistic tracers with richochets would be nice and maybe being able to fast rope from helicopters or shot from the littlebird. but i'm happy with the game.
-
http://www.shadowspear.com/littlebird.htm the vid at the bottom of the of the page shows that shooting from the littlebird is a reality.

Worthy of a Phd in my opinion, a splendid resource for an Arma player.
-
thanks its an excellent vid.

Any chance of you uploading the hi-rez version for us to download?

Awesome screens Dyslecxi, spec ops protechs will definitely please quite a few folks here. I would hope the opfor models would also get a few new visual enhancements too in the 1.06 release., camo helmet <hint hint>

@ I&C Quit bitchin, so they released the game a little early with some bugs - well too bad that's life. They've promised to fix everything over the next few months without any further cost to anyone who owns currently the game. If you're not happy to wait for the fixes then return the game to the vendor and get a refund, instead of trolling the fora.

Great screens Parvus, Peanut, Rellikki et al. I have lurking here in BI forums, drooling over the screens of modded & unmodded units that you guys have been posting. I've a useful link to perhaps inspire more Opfor mods from you guys if you haven't seen it already. http://russianarms.info/indexENG.htm Please keep the screens coming.
