Please give us a great SP expansion pack this year!

I here ya ^^, its just too darn tiring to understand scripts, triggers etc, best I can do is simple waypoints , thats my mission !. -
Cant argue with the sentiment of your point...I think people will eventually be like that, give it a 100 years or so and for genetic engineering to mould acceptable and unacceptable behaviours out of people ( it will happen ! ). Tbh though, few would willingly give up after negotiation, particularly people with the most to lose. I think a major problem is religion - and Im thinking of one in particular. Its why we are in Iraq and Afghanistan. The truly awful wars are the one we never hear about, look at the Congo - 5 million people dead in the largest conflict since WW2, over what ?....

Problem is Brain, were animals, literally, with instincts. If I want your land, and will become that much richer from its resources your likely not to give it to me on a silver platter. So what happens then ? Ill come and take it, would you not put up a fight ?

thats awesome walker, you got groupies ;).Im a noob with online gaming. Only tried ARMA2 once and just saw a massive list of servers only a 1/4 full. What kind of game is Bezerk ? - Id like to just play a simple deathmatch...cant made sense of the multiplayer GUI though... -
It might sound a stretch that a 'game' could actually influence behaviour. But if you think about it, its only our generation that technology has become advanced enough to simulate warfare and the associated emotions from a first person view. Id imagine a 15, 16 year old playing a arcade war game in the late 80s say would just not experience the fear of 'whats round the corner' when looking at a 2D game....
-
well said, a few missions with screaming comrades injured isnt going to be AA3 propaganda. I spose some people are able to block negative thoughts and fears and join anyway - chances being they serve and survive unscathed. One big crap shoot though as too how you do..... OFP and ARMA2 personally make me respect the stress and strain that soldiers must go through, course I can just restart.

Perhaps semi circular screens will one day be sold - affordably, with the GPU hp to back it up...give it 15 years...
-
Not sure why tanks are so f***in slow on grass either....
-
Yeah, they should be longer.

The fidelity of control with a mouse cannot be matched in the same time by a controller. For example, aiming and following a target with the correct lead is easier with a mouse. I admit a controller is much more comfortable though. I made the point earlier though, I really want this too come out for consoles so more people can enjoy it and for the ARMA name to be known. Who knows, perhaps with OFPDR and ARMA2 both on consoles it could open up the floodgates to more realistic sims....

I still prefer playing on a console, but have moved to PC for FPS games for accuracy, I commend those of you who can aim accurately with a analogue stick.

A.C.E. Advanced Combat Environment Mod 2

How much will ACE2 effect framerates ?, they are expremely important to me. Did ACE effect them in ARMA ? I cant find a ACE1 feature list as well , the official site is dead. -
I am aware that VBS2 is a very tailored game for specific training needs. I also read from one of you that having 'played' it you wouldnt give up ARMA2 for it for a second. I am however impressed by some of the environments, specifically the sprawling desert/city one that seems to be based off Sat data. http://virtualbattlespace.vbs2.com/images/stories/jan2009/1680x1050_VBS2_127.jpg Is it possible for a ARMA2 island to have such a sprawling city without grinding to a halt ?. I recall VBS1 recommended specs to be fairly low, even soldiers using it on Laptops, is this the case for VBS2 ?, if so, it would be nice to play in a Baghdad type city. (Course with improved CQB and driving AI - please !!)
-
Id love to but I cant get it to work, I need plants.pbo - I need a step by step instruction on this as Im a noob with folders etc.
-
Dont underestimate nostalgia and the 'wow' factor of a pioneer game. I admit though OFP was and is awesome. I loved downloading the car addons, and trying out new weapons. Id love a ARMA2 SG551....
-
good stuff, would I go through the 'multiplayer' part of the ARMA menu ?, doesnt seem particularly intuitive....

Everyone on the gta forums thought that R* would never develop a GTA4 PC version considering the ratio of consoles to PCs out there and where the bulk of fans lied. They did, and it sold comparatively few copies. The situation with ARMA2 is brighter, yes the natural home is the PC, but when there are millions upon millions of consoles out there I cant see them being neglected. OFPDR is targeted towards console gamers, hence the more forgiving nature of it. Who's too say that ARMA couldnt be 'softened' or at least made more user friendly for consoles. Scaling back gfx and vegetation, I cant see it having problems running at 30fps.

Sorry to sound noobish but the only game Ive played online is GTA4. Can anyone explain what a clan is ? - I appreciate its a group of online gamer - but what type of games do they play and how can I join ?

How the fuck do PC gamers - gamers that PREFER to spend more and to get the best experience cannot see how ARMA is a MUCH deeper game to COD et al. It is indicative of many other sides of society, decent music goes unheard, decent films lose to 'blockbusters'. Does everyone lack the patience to play, listen and watch entertainment that requires more of the purchaser ? ARMA isnt 'radio friendly' music. -
This has been recently mentioned in another post. I thought it deserved a thread of its own though. I am disapointed that friendly AI only begin to engage targets at 600 m or closer. At this distance snipers and machine gunners cannot hit for shit - is this an issue that has been raised with BIS ?
-
Fair one My Fing, - if from your exp IRL that is the way its done, good enough for me :) - makes sense when you think about it . It would be nice though , If I order a sniper to fire from 700/800 , then thats what he does.
