!That sounds much better GIJOE. Wish you good luck with modelling. If you got any questions - simply ask! Just a tip, i think it's quiet hard to start modelling with o2 - have a look at freeware like wings3d - http://www.wings3d.com/ - it's a nice little program and should be able to export 3ds files, which can be imported into o2... also google for some video tutorials - doesn't matter for which program as most applications use a similar way of modelling - i learned alot from those.... edit: also a modeller should know some basics about texturing - this way it will be more easy to understand how to make a good uvmapping. take a look at http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=53 - imo one of the best sites to learn about modelling and texturing - also take a look here: http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=39 - this part of cgtalk is all about game-modelling and you can learn alot by just watching their wip's... last hint: take your time. make small steps and after awhile you'll soon get the idea behind modelling...
-
you'll never learn it.... you should stop claiming other peoples work as your own - it's a shame - really!
-
yeah, i like YOUR SU-29. Can you post some pics of it please. What program did you use?
-
your SU-29 ?

not only unneeded, also stupid and wrong. spain was in iraq... so make your homework Tawalkana, before writing bullsh!t!
-
i think it's enough now. i made my point clear and so did nephilim. no need to continue about the topic
-
mature? take a look in my profile little girl... the point is, here is a forum for bis-games. there is simply no necessity to post non arma related stuff, particularly if it's only for showing off...
-
nice, technically well made but the head doesn't fit somehow. it's also not related to armed assault - or are u going to release a bare breasted statue? there are better places to post this...
-
read the wiki about blitzkrieg and you'll soon see that it is a very limited term if you want to cover different times of the war... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blitzkrieg i would also prefer ArmA1943...

@neph: gnädigste, he is refering to col. faulkner who asked about highpolys for normal mapping. read synides post and the quotation from faulkner again...

O.T. but approx. 7000 faces is nothing(! for a highres model. usually highres models for non-technical things are made by exporting them to mudbox/zbrush and you wont get any quality results with so few polys. http://forums.cgsociety.org/showthread.php?f=39&t=479896 take a close look at this topic over at cgsociety. or here: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....hl=deli delirium did some good work on the highres-part using ~500k faces - which is a normal value for highres modelling... sorry for O.T.
-
@delirium: excellent links!! especially the gnomon stuff is great! (i have organic modelling I & II) ;-) also worth a short visit: http://www.military-meshes.com/

sry doublepost

what is happening here? haven't all of you read his first post? he already bought 3DSMAX so there is absolutely no need to argue about which program we all prefer...
-
also take a look at http://forums.cgsociety.org/forumdisplay.php?f=39 - the link leads to their game-modelling section. there is a lot you can learn by just watching the wip's.. secondly, when i started modelling, i frequently used to look at www.simplymaya.com - just take a look at their 3dmax section under: http://www.simplymax.com/ - many members of the community are beginners and therefore lots of basic questions are answered there.... btw good luck with max
-
but you surely made a driving license before... i agree that buying (which i don't believe..) such an expensive program is abit much for a start. would have been better to get a freeware like blender or wings3d... but simply google for "3dsmax and tutorial".it will get you plenty of results. especially video tutorials were very helpful when i started modelling.
-
go and download blender or wings3d (both are free) and google for some tutorials and start building it yourself. believe me, modelling is not rocketscience and your ufo has such a simple shape- should be easy to create it as a first model. edit: http://ofp.info/brsseb/ here is all you need to know to get a simple model ingame edit2: spamming different places in the forums wont get you any friends around here - Addon request thread in arma/addon discussion is the appropiate place to post requests...

@[ZG]BUZZARD: hey mate, believe me - it was not my goal to disappoint anyone. For my old opf-vodnik i only finished 1st lod and some basic textures, but i underestimated how time consuming university would be. i had plans to donate my model to the community, so somebody could finish it - but unfortunately i lost the old one - crc error on my cdrom backup :-( sh!t at the moment i use my (very little) free time to build a new model from scratch - , but progress is very very slow due to university - but as i promised, the project is not dead - i still dream about having one ingame... but i am unable to work as much on it as i really would like to - but again i have to say that i don't know when i will be able to finish this baby. regards cl10k ps: will post some early wip pics of the highres-model in arma "stuff ur working on" soon

Hi everyone. this is one of my first attempts in modeling lowpoly for opf. Its a russian "jeep" maybe you can even call it a small troopcarrier. i am working in maya so there are some problems in exporting 3ds files to oxygen but i think i can manage that (thanks to lotekk). As i said i am a newbie in  opf- and lowpolymodeling, therefore the model maybe is to detailed in some parts but i will decide whether to fix that or not after i found a way to see the model ingame. also it will take some time (years???) till i found out about all those special opf-modeling-scripting-things so please be patient. http://img294.imageshack.us/img294/6329/vodniktest26sd.jpg

it depends on your altitude... places in australia and europe that share the same altitude (distance to the middle of the earth) also share the same gravity....

i think another reason why vehicles always end up as deathtraps is because players are not used to work in teams. a single bmp or even a single tank is not that powerful - you need to combine 2 or more vehicles to be effective. i always lmao when i see players on berzerk maps trying to capture towns with single vehicles and get blown up. imagine a tank and a bmp attacking together, you have the bmp to take out soldiers and smaller enemys and the tank for the heavy stuff but unfortenatly most players don't realize that.

Hello everyone, i once tried modelling for opf but due to rl stuff i did not have the time to finish my first attempt. With ArmA being quite nice i want to give modelling a second try and got some very basic questions - i hope this is the right forum and i haven't overseen a topic already covering my questions, allthough even if using the search-function it is really hard to gather all the bits and pieces together.... now to my questions: 1. what is the avarage polycount for the different vehicles and their lod's? !ok explained! 2. how many lod's are used? !ok explained! 3. what different textures (spec, normal,...) are supported by the engine and what texturesizes are used? !ok explained! 4. is it possible the detect how a vehicle was destroyed, p.e. by mines, rockets or normal bullets? thx in advance cl10k PS: if there is already such a topic, a link would be very nice^^ @mods: if this is the wrong forum, please move it to an appropriate place ;-)

i'll do that later. reading the manual atm and googling for some info...

the lowpoly was a box without any overlapping
