Oh yeah! I was just thinking yesterday that it would be nice to have APILAS in OFP, looks like there was a telepathic connection between me and Blake. Do you have a picture of the targeting system? I can get you one from the army if needed. Maybe next you could do a 66 KES 88? // cam0flage

I'd say AK-47 is the most successful assault rifle ever, widely used and heavily copied, a lot of assault rifles are based on AK-47. // cam0flage

Thanks for a great island. Looks very professional, and I really enjoyed checking the map out. Can hardly wait to get an update which fixes the muzzle flash bug, so I can start designing some missions. // cam0flage

The "supertorpedoes" Der Spiegel reported about are possibly supercavitating torpedoes developed by the Russians. Read more here! Pretty interesting. // cam0flage

Russians are the absolute masters of designing ugly aircraft ... But hey, they are effective, i guess. // cam0flage

He hey again, I got to ride a T-72 last week, it was pretty interesting and they taught us a lot about the tank. One interesting thing was that instead of the usual blue exhaust fumes the tank can release a heavy white smoke could. It is usually used to cover for example a damaged tank or infantry when others continue to advance. Guess this wouldn't be too difficult to make, mod makers comment on this! Too bad I didn't have a camera with me, a T-72 firing its main weapon was pretty impressive. // cam0flage

I'm feeling pretty bored so i'm going to tell you a few stories. We got a sudden mission a few weeks ago; we had to take control of all the islands situated in the front of Helsinki. My platoon was assigned to this island called Vallisaari, which is today a closed one. No civilians have been living there since the 1970s. It has a long history involving a lot of people and troops from different countries. The island has a lot of fortifications and some old naval guns. Most of the fortifications were made by chinese prisoners brought in by russians during 19th century. They digged trenches and built fortifications. Of course, the death rate was unbelievably high. Every time a chinese worker fell he would be buried at the spot; you can easily find human bones next to the trenches with only a little digging. When the fortifications were complete, the remaining chinese were taken with ferries to the middle of Finnish Gulf. Russian soldiers broke the bottom of the ferries and all the chinese prisoners drowned. What a nice pay for a work well done. Anyway, here comes the main story. The leader of my platoon told that a ghost of a russian officer with his head cut off walks around the fortifications during the nighttime. Sometime during the 1850s russian officers had been drinking vodka at the officer's club: One of them came up with a crazy bet: Who would dare to take a straight hit with the flat side of the saber to their own chest? Of course the drunken russians were instantly up for it, and one officer ended up having his head cut off. So, we had patrols going out every 45 minutes by foot, walking around the fortifications and scanning the beaches with night vision binoculars. We decided to check out the officer's club every time we pass it and try to spot the ghost. Too bad, the poor lad did his best to avoid us, and we didn't meet him. I'm going back to Vallisaari in a few months when we have another exercise there, I hope the officer's schedule isn't full then. // cam0flage

AGS-17 is a very dangerous weapon to its user when used in woods. Last year a finnish reservist died when he fired the weapon and the grenade hit a nearby tree and exploded. The grenade has a very sensitive mechanism for detecting a hit. It has been banned to fire AGS-17 since the accident. // cam0flage

So, technically it seems to be possible. I guess i have to consult Kegetys about this one. denoir, i don't think the driver was joking, actually he was dead serious because there was a captain from the tank brigade standing behind him. He said the weakest spots are the sides of the hull, especially in the back where the compartment for passengers is. I guess it could be possible for a PKM with proper ammunition to penetrate 19 mm armor, but who knows ... // cam0flage

It's a shame I've experienced really cool things in the army like being transported in a Mi-8 Hip etc. but only pictures i've managed to take are the ones where our whole squad is wearing gasmasks, army swimming pants and suspenders. Oh yeah, I talked to a BMP driver during the exercise with T-72s, I asked him about the armor, he said it can hold off assault rifle ammunition but even a PKM penetrates it. Guess the OFP BMPs are a bit tougher than the ones in real life ... // cam0flage

Looks pretty nasty ... I don't understand how people can just laugh at that. How come it's possible that people always have a camera handy when something like this happens? // cam0flage

I have to say that the Simpsons are #1. No other series have such continuity as the Simpsons. 13 seasons and i'm still watching it every time. This is a little bit offtopic, but old Donald Duck movies are pretty entertaining too. // cam0flage

Great work Kegetys! I've been waiting for this addon, my company uses it as a support weapon, but we've never tried it since its been banned to shoot with it, because a finnish reservist died in an accident involving AGS-17 last year. Next you should try your hand at making an APILAS, i fired one of those last week, that weapon really rocks big time. Here's a link! // cam0flage

Sounds great! Vixer, hopefully you're making some round-shaped camonets. The shed is pretty good but it really gives just cover against threats coming from above. If the camouflage value of a camonet can be adjusted, i think it would be appropriate to increase it a bit. It sucks when AI gunners in helicopters report seeing camonets I hope some people keep this thread alive because i'm out for a 5 day trip into the forest, offered to me by the beloved Finnish Defence Forces Enjoy your summer holidays, // cam0flage

Hello, I just came up with this idea one night last week when i was patrolling the nearby woods (we had a major military exercise here in Finland last week). For example, when a column of vehicles, lets say, 2 APCs and a truck arrive to their deployment area, they are instantly driven in the middle of woods and camouflaged. Usually this happens using a few camonets and long sticks to break their form to protect them from night vision equipment. Could it be possible to write a script which could be selected from the action menu, which would create a few camonets around the vehicle? Also, now that people have O2 someone could make a few camonets which would be of some other shape than the basic OFP box-shaped net? Script gurus write back, // cam0flage

If someone is going to make a T72, it would be nice to have BMP 1 and 2 too. Please! // cam0flage

The poll is missing some great movies. My list: 1. Cross Of Iron IMDB I saw this underrated classic a month ago, and it really hit me. Fantastic and realistic looking battle scenes, a good plot and excellent acting. You can easily find it on DVD, absolutely worth checking out. 2. Das Boot IMDB Was this poll restricted to land warfare? Screw U-571, Das Boot really captures the feeling of being inside a submarine. Again, excellent acting, but what really makes it a great movie is the atmosphere in the submarine. I own the book too, it's also worth checking out. 3. Guns Of Navarone IMDB Pure fiction, yet so entertaining! Probably my all time favourite when it comes to adventure movies. Great plot, excellent performances by the actors. One of the films I'll never get bored with. I think war films made in recent years really lack the feeling. Too often new movies all about special effects and body count. The plots often suck and are made for big audiences, a prime example being Enemy At The Gates. A nice movie ruined by a sad-ass love story. I gotta admit I love the scene where they cross the Volga. Yet I suggest people check out Stalingrad (IMDB) for a much better movie about the battle. Time to go back to the garrison, bye bye! // cam0flage

Thank you denoir I was too lazy to take any screenshots but you proved my point. Maybe BIS wanted to make BMP more scary by making it bigger Guess a properly sized BMP would look like a matchbox car in OFP ... not. Damn, almost 1 month ahead with no vacations, but instead a lot of camping in the woods and a major exercise involving 12000 soldiers, 100 airplanes and 700 vehicles. Might be interesting. But the point was, when I get back I'd like to see a properly sized BMP and and a lot of other addons, maybe someone with O2 could make a CV90 and a SISU XA-185 // cam0flage
