I have to agree that it would be a good idea for mod teams to release some units as teasers to maintain the end user's interest in the mod. I think DKM mod works in a great way, releasing new units every now and then. Of course, we must be patient because you cannot create a good mod within a few days, and quality is something we all value, right?

Has anyone made a 1.85 version of uce cis units?
cam0flage replied to PFC_Mike's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Thank you Norsu for providing links to the needed weapons. I have to give respect for equipping the OMON units with Grozas, it really gives them some extra feeling. About Ucee's Serbian units; has anyone ever made Serb armour addons or anything? I guess they use eastern equipment of course, but can anyone give more specific information? -
Absolutely fantastic. I missed first 5 minutes of 24 watching these pictures and drooling, thank you Evi Can't wait to get my hands on these units ...

Am I the only one having problems with the pack that Norsu posted? I get an error in the startup about config.bin, something about AK-47M. Also, the OMON units using the Groza do not work at all. Any solutions? -
Is the Remington 870 deer shotgun same as Remington 870 Police Magnum pump-action shotgun? We used those in the army, really nice weapon except it has pretty nasty recoil.

I got my piece of meals in the Finnish Defence Forces during my nine month service, and I really have to admit that the rations did suck. So called "combat rations" had some decent chocolate, bread and patée. Basically enough food for 24 hours. Most of the foods were basic soups and porridge you can find from the stores. I remember eating some tasty Knorr curry chicken in a snowfall last february. The food from field kitchen was usually pretty weird, our cooks put everything they could find into the food, which often resulted in a very disgusting mess. The cooks also had a bad habit of stealing all the chocolates and puddings, which made the basic jaegers very angry I think it's true that food raises morale I don't remember anything sweeter than eating chocolate and smoking cigarettes in a warm tent with stove while it was raining outside. How are the rations in other armies, are they "army manufactured" or are they just meals available from a normal store?

I am absolutely in favor of a cigarette smoking animation! The lessons I learned from the army: You always have to smoke when you're on guard duty even when it's dark and it will reveal your position. We used to put our cigarettes inside 12.7mm NSV ricochets and smoke there but it doesn't help if the enemy has night vision equipment It would be nice to have some blackop missions during nighttime where an enemy suddenly lights up a cigarette near you

Proper release of the littlebirds
cam0flage replied to SelectThis's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
This is a bit offtopic but excuse my lack of knowledge, I really need to know: Is the littlebird also known as Hughes 500? Edit: fixed a really terrible typo -

I think that's why there are cases of wine inside Leopard 1A5 in the Bundeswehr mod<span id='postcolor'> I can confirm this; when I was in the army this summer a group of 6 german soldiers stayed at our garrison for two weeks. They were in Finland to recondition an old german military graveyard near Helsinki. I guess they did that during daytime, but boy they were drunk every night. Apparently they had arrived by a boat, because their room was full of tax-free beer. Once the tax-free beer was consumed, they moved to the nearby cafe to get themselves totally wasted And, what comes to my mind when I think about different equipment: Russia: Buk-M1 (SA-11 Gadfly) USA: Marines Finland: Sisu XA-185 France: Crotale NG Germany: Leopard 2A4 Israel: Merkava Sweden: CV90 UK: Harrier Iraq: Scud

I think F117 isn't after all suitable for OFP. Both planes which were released today (VIT's and King Homer's) have a lot of bugs, especially King Homer's where the cockpit is completely screwed up. How about bringing more versatile ground vehicles instead of all these high-tech planes which we don't really need? The more units the merrier but still some quality control from the addon makers would be nice. Well, nobody is forced to download and use them but still it would be nice to see the addon makers direct their creativity towards more useful addons

This has been done like a million times before ... I am afraid that this is going to be another of those posts which get locked up Ps. I'm from Finland

To Noose_ITO: I'm actually in reserve now, I've just been too lazy to update my signature and avatar </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">It was supposed to be a superb weapon if you could forget the fact that it was painfull to shoot and impossible to hit anything with. The use of the weapon was compared to the pain of pulling out teeth. That protective mask is there for a reason.<span id='postcolor'> I think that's maybe a bit exaggerated, because most people in the army who shot with APILAS said that it was the coolest thing they ever got to do. One AT-sergeant from my platoon shot 7 APILAS during one day, and complained nothing. You can ease the recoil a lot by finding a good firing position, I'd guess.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Btw. fireing Apilas in knee position would perhaps end up firer finding it self belly up beacause of "bang" to face(for shock at least). Â There is definitely use for the face mask and cheek padding found in Apilas although manual says it's recoiless.<span id='postcolor'> I've fired an APILAS practise rocket once from knee position, the recoil wasn't so bad but after all, it was just a 68mm practise rocket if I remember right. I heard a legend in the army how to simulate the recoil of a real APILAS in knee position: You take the APILAS, aim for the target, and tell your team members when you are ready and when you fire. When you say fire, the other guy throws a bucket of sand on your face and another guy kicks you hard into your back. Similar effect, I heard Actually the face mask is there to protect the soldier's face from the flames from the rocket leaving the APILAS. You can also see more easily through the Pilkington-Kite night vision sight when you're "in the dark".

They go underwater and thats it.<span id='postcolor'> Heh, I was searching the net for rc submarines about a week ago, I found some really interesting ones which actually use the ballast system like a real submarine. Some guys had developed torpedoes and one submarine was even able to launch cruise missiles up to 35 feet from underwater. So who said that they just go underwater and that's it?

This is slightly offtopic but I really want to know: I've never seen a pumpkin close up, I dunno why but I guess Finland is just a non-pumpkin country But the question is, is pumpkin like rock-hard or soft? Guess rock-hard if you can shoot it and it doesn't just "splat". The guy who developed that pumpkin gun looks just like a guy who would develop something like a pumpkin gun, if you know what I mean

Looks like a cottage from Lappland. Where are the ski lifts?

Train addon would be wonderful. Imagine missions where you have to a disable a soviet nuclear missile train (you know those mobile launchers). It would be cool to have WW2 armored trains. Otherwise I guess implementing a railroad to OFP would require a lot of assitance from BIS.
-
Heh, this would make a nice addon. It would be nice to see a Mi-8 too, it wouldn't be pretty hard to do, just rip the rocket pods from Mi-17. By the way, what's up with the russian aircraft industry and the designers? Am I the only one who thinks russian designs are pretty crude and "ugly" when compared to western helicopters/planes? Is Mi-2 still used? It's pretty old.

If you haven't seen them already, better head to www.ofp-zone.de and check out the screenshots of the Antonov. According to the site it will be out this week (don't take my word on it, I read the news in german). One picture shows a scud launcher being unloaded from Antonov, I'm not that familiar with the limitations of the OFP engine, but I thought it was impossible to load vehicles into planes or ships? Anyway, I just have to admire the detail of the plane, especially the cargo bay. Looks like you can open the cargo bay doors on both sides, front and back. Can't wait for this addon getting released! Finally something to counter the C-17

Hello, I just started wondering today why nobody has made a MiG-21 fighter/bomber for OFP? After all, it's the most widespread jet plane ever built. Single model could be retextured for many countries. Also, it could be used on different eras; for example, Vietnam and Gulf War. I don't know about OFP mod making, but the model seems to be pretty simple for an airplane, not having that much detail. I guess it would be pretty to find pictures for textures for such a well-known plane. Here's a link for some pictures and info if you're not familiar with the thing: fas.org Addon makers (and others), what do you think?

Looks very nice. How many man can it carry? Is it fast?

Correct me if I'm wrong but does Vit have a bad habit of ripping off peoples work? I have a faint memory that this isn't the first time he has borrowed other people's work without permission. Thanks for supplying some pictures of CV90, that would be a nice addon by the way *wink wink*
