As far as I know, there is no island under works. Maybe in the future, if BIS decides to bless the gamers with some quality software ...

I hope this addon will inspire people to create WWII Russian vehicles too! I know we have the T-34 out, but I would like to have one with similar textures as in Combat Mission 2 (especially the user made modifications, check out the thread in A&M: Completed T-34, I posted some pictures). Keep up the good work!

Does that mean that USA would use them if they were being invaded by an other country? I believe Saddam is pretty aware of the consequences that would follow a chemical attack. He is not that stupid.<span id='postcolor'> Isn't there a treaty which bans the use of nuclear weapons against a nation which doesn't have them that the United States has signed? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Quite a devious plan from Saddam. Urban warfare always causes a lot of casualities for the attacker; I guess if the American forces have to attack Baghdad it will be one bloody fight, and the American public isn't certainly ready for it. They expect a quick war with minimal losses, which isn't possible under this scenario. Of course Bush can always get the B-52s to level the city, but I guess that would cause a lot of complaints from the global community these days. I guess everyone remember how the Allied bombed German cities during WWII, but I think it's a totally different scenario if we compare Iraq to Hitler's Germany. What do you think about the morale of the Iraqi troops? Can they put up a stubborn resistance?

The Kord's tripod reminds me of an AGS-17 tripod. AKM74, how about making a NSV next? The Kord is a great addon, but it would be nice to have something for the ordinary troops. I don't think the Kord will replace NSV quite yet.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Finland, the unknown superpower?...oh come on, it's easy to say those kinds of things when you dont have to back them up. The Canadian Armed Forces are VERY well trained but I wouldnt go claiming that we could/would take on other countries because thats not what the CAF do.<span id='postcolor'> I don't think anyone in this thread has said that Finland is a superpower People have just pointed out that if there would be a war between Finland and Russia, Finland would have a decent chance of defending itself, due to the deteriorating state of the Russian army. Of course, if Russia would concentrate all of their troops on the Finnish border, it would most likely end with the Russia occupying Finland. I don't know how much you know about the history of Finland over there in Canada, but we did prevent an occupation by Russia two times during the WWII. Regarding your comments about CAF and "taking on" other countries, the Finnish Defence Forces are certainly not suited for large scale offensive actions, instead like the name insist, for defence.

You cannot claim that every man has been in the army, because there always are people who choose civil service or are unfit to serve, due to for example some illness. I don't know about the Russian conscription system, but what I've heard from the Russians I know, they try to avoid military service as much as they can.

It could maybe look a bit more rugged ... otherwise the reticle looks great!

Thank you for the info AKM74. My mistake, to my eye it looked like a modified NSV. Anyways, a great addon!

Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds?

The only thing I noticed was the optic sight. I don't know about the tripod, in Finland we use a higher model which is manufactured in Norway. I thought Kord is just a nickname for NSV, but it seems I was wrong.

I think the Kord should have a magazine of 50 rounds. Maybe there are 100 round magazines available, but at least I didn't see any during my service in the army. Also, the naming, "KORD HMG" bugged me a little ... how about just calling it a NSV 12.7 mm or something? Just a suggestion.

I'm running OFP version 1.91 on a 1.3ghz AMD Thunderbird with 512mb ram and a 32 mb GeForce2 MX 200. Disregarding this little bug, the addon is terrific. I made up some really nasty encounters between the Leopard and a bunch of T-80s from Sigma's T-80 pack

I found a strange bug. The crew members seem to have transparent heads

Looks great! I've been looking forward to the release of this addons since your thread in A&M work in progress. Adding a little extra camouflage gives it a nice personal touch, I would definitely like to see more of these kind of features in the future. Good work, I hope it will be available for download really soon!

I just smoked crack and voted for Kegetys <3

Stupid AI would probably get killed very often if the tail rotors would cause damage I remember when we got to ride a Mi-8 Hip when I was in the army, we were told like 2000 times that never never never go behind the helicopter. Damn, I can still taste the sand in my mouth

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Today, I don't know. Military cuts have made us very vulnerable the last years. They've shut down many airbases. Can you believe it, but today it takes almost one hour for fighters to reach Stockholm! Idiotic short-sighted politicians<span id='postcolor'> This seems to be a trend in the Nordic states, Finland will cut down the strength of its wartime armed forces. Currently the army would have 490000 personnel during full mobilization, but it will be cut down to 350000 by the year 2008. FDF has purchased a lot of modern weaponry lately (124 Leopard 2A4s from Germany, 57 CV9030FIN from Sweden, Euro-Spike anti-tank and anti-shipping missiles etc.), so it seems that the new way of thinking would be something like "quality over quantity". Does Sweden have a system of temporary airfields on highways like during wartime like Finland has? </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Possibly. Soviet plans released after the breakdown of the Soviet union has revealed though that an invasion was planned through an amphibious attack on Stockholm. There I am certain that we could have defended us pretty good.<span id='postcolor'> That sounds pretty risky, isn't Stockholm covered by a pretty extensive archipelago? Are there any static coastal artillery installed? Helsinki is pretty well protected from the sea, there is an extensive network of coastal artillery. Edit: Forgot to ask, what kind of air defence systems are deployed around Stockholm?

I use column for advancing through unknown terrain, but there's one bad thing about it: If you are ambushed you will be probably killed first. I wish OFP could work like in real life so that the leader would be in the middle. Otherwise, column is a good formation; there's not so many targets available for the enemy if they open fire from the front. When I encounter enemy, I switch to line formation right away, so I can get all members of my squad to fire at the enemy.

Well here's a view from the Finnish side: I don't seriously think we could have stopped the Russians during the cold war, but an occupation would have absolutely resulted to a lengthy guerrilla war. Finland wouldn't have had enough resources to stop a full scale invasion, when comparing to the Red Army during that time. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I can answer for Swedens part. The answer is no. Our strategy since ww2 has not been to prevent an occupation but to make the first days of an invasion a hell for the attacker. The idea was to make it hurt enough that it wouldn't be worth invading.<span id='postcolor'> Denoir, do you think the Swedish army could have been strong enough to deliver a powerful strike against the Russians in northern Sweden / Lapland? I guess the Russian would have tried to flank Norway with an attack through Finland and Sweden. 1/3 of the Finnish Defence Forces would have been located in Lapland during full mobilization, I'm sure that would have caused some serious damage to the attacking Russians.
-
Wow! Could we get an anti-aircraft version too, with a higher tripod?
-
Anybody else has problems with the cockpit in MiG-25? It appears to be totally white for me, ie. a missing texture or something.
-
Maybe you could work out a deal, the CV90 would be a good addition to the FDF mod, and maybe the Swedish mod would like to have a XA-series vehicle model? Just a suggestion ...

I'm not disrespecting the author's work or anything, but I wish we could get these addons with a more "rugged" look. Below are a few examples from Combat Mission 2 addons:
