  1. You should get the servants to go for you . . .
  2. Matrox Triplehead2Go analog to drive the screens in my sig. Plus Pilflus for voice commands when commanding in SP. And by own built Freetrack, sometimes.
  3. Yup - OFP:Elite is the Xbox version.
  4. Own the whole series and even bought OFP Elite off a well known auction site for 99p to complete the series.
  5. "A well deserved rest after OA and BAF ?" :D Or Optimized Client FPS/Loading. Low fps plus a change in vegetation shapes often divert my attention and lets the opposition end me. Or I am just a bad player. :o
  6. The -=Milsim Operations=- Server If you are looking for some mature coop play on a casual basis, come along to the Milsim Operations server and give us a try. After a long and faithful affair with Domination we are giving a variety of shorter coop missions a try out, usually forming into one or more squads with different players as leaders and approaches, and varying the missions to match the number of people. Typically playing from 9pm CET onwards, there is someone online most evenings with the aim in the longer term to get enough regulars together to run private, pre-planned game nights focussing on completing the objectives in the evening. Players from all over Europe and beyond have joined in the recent past, from varying age groups and with different experience levels, so all are welcome and we only ask you play as a team member, follow the squad leader and reserve your abuse for your own mistakes. To join the server you'll need Arma II, Operation Arrowhead, ACE 1.5 stable (CBA, ACE & ACEX) and a selection of our favourite tried and tested mods in a single download ('MilSimAddonPack'). Links below. 7. Hi Click on the play symbol in the middle of the ad (it is probably red and will go green when you can start playing it). Good work Baz, I bet there is even some forgotten stuff for old hands. And I vote for being a sticky.

    DLC- What do YOU want?

Not sure if someone suggested before but a more sophisticated town generator, or even one which varied the layout and buildings of an existing map. I'm not a modder, but custom maps are not released in the hundreds so I believe the work to create them is huge, so anything helping the generation of more custom battlegrounds is goodness and I would pay for. Also feeds into my other wish list of being able to create real life locations to fight in (real life responsibilities limit my time available, like many I guess). Being very familiar with a map sometimes spoils a game for me as it takes aware some of the tension and skill needed to adjust to whats on the ground. cjph
  9. I had an E2160 which was 1.8Ghz stock, but overclocked to 3Ghz and ran Arma1 pretty well with an AC7 cooler (not sure how it would be for Arma2 and OA). Of course, you have to know what you are doing and there is risk, but provided your board allows it there might be mileage in the cpu. If it goes wrong, you might be upgrading anyhow !

    Bomb!

As a boy (many years ago) I found a live 303 sized cartridge in a garden one day and spent all afternoon playing with it, including repeatedly throwing it at my cousin in the street, who threw is back at me. My parents spoiled our fun by taking it to the police station. The desk sargeant's face was a picture. Never did find out how it got into a suburban garden or heard any more about it.
  11. I think I tried dial up a few times but my lack of experience, aka stupidity, made me give up and play SP. Which was challenging enough in itself after playing Spec Ops . . . . with hindsight I wish I had kept trying to get into MP.
  12. Similar profile to Myke (replaces OFP GOTY with OFP Elite recently, to make up the set). OFP: CWC OFP Gold Upgrade OFP: Resistance Armed Assault Armed Assault: QG ArmA 2 OFP Elite ArmA 2: OA BAF Never actually played OFP online as broadband was not here til 2006, so Arma was my first online experience. I buy all military shooters to try out (once they are in the bargain bins) as you never know . . . always some back to the BIS line though.
  13. The mission editor of DR was about the only thing I thought had potential in the game, so this and the other omissions in Red River will remove it from any potential purchase list of mine (I buy all newly released shooters, but have always come back to BIS once they become 'samey').
  14. Without giving anything away, anyone else get the engineer 'entertaining' the crew when a vehicle stops in the campaign ? That made my night (I'm easily pleased).
  15. Yep, watched the video a number of times and listened carefully, hence my question. Its the noirmal AI responses I am wondering about, not the pre-recorded stuff since all the clips in the video sound made for the mini campaign to me. Unless the responses are new and varied, which would be neat. Either way I am ruddy annoyed I am away next week. Join the bring back ruddy campaign !
  16. 'Ruddy' in my mind conjures up spitting image puppets of Princes Charles and Philip. I bet some old school officers still use it. Will the automated voice sequences ("Man - 50 meters - 12 oclock", "Go to that tree at 4 oclock") in BAF be in new English or remain the same ?
  17. Do people still say 'ruddy'. ?
  18. I got my nephew (early twenties, veteran WoW, BF and CS player/modder) into Arma2 and while he enjoyed the SP experience he had a lot of trouble getting into MP, even our server. Getting the right game version, addons and mods can be too much hassle for the younger players used to the switch on and go console world, let alone then finding they are easy pickings for the AI. Can't see this changing soon. Maybe the new, smaller island in the BAF DLC is a move towards smaller CQB environments and missions which could lure traditional FPS players into Arma gradually, with familiar sized maps and gameplay on public servers. Hopefully the more mature players (and those like my nephew who is tired of the sniping, run and gun FPS) will sitck with it and become team players, joining us more experienced players on locked or heavily modded servers. Just my little dream world.
  19. When I say cider it was actually tapwater which we peed in for colour. But is was cider to us. And I were happier then even though we was poor. Nostalgia is not what is used to be. If I had not drank 68 pints I would have saved enough money to download of BAF. Today it is more like 3 pints. :-(
  20. When I were a student 11p bought a pint of cider on promo nights and time on a BBC micro playing defender was rare. Its true timing is everything as I am away next week so won't get BAF til September - save me a seat in your Warriors !.
  21. Maybe its a cunning plan by BIS to lure players from other shooters, using a size of map more familiar to them. And if they could script the AI to do the same thing every time a mission is played . . .
  22. This same thing happened to me some time ago in Arma2, though I also lost a few of the AI soldiers as well (so might have been fixed in newer patches/betas). Good job I have not lost all my Rambo skills and cleared the town single handed. ;)
  23. Agree with the medic thing - I thought they were programmed to get to you and heal automatically if ordered and you are down. I guess I have'nt left it long enough or have the team switch option. It would also be helpful to be able to order them to heal anyone within a specific radius without specific orders. I wonder if the AI stance behaviour is an attempt at mimicking life - after a contact, I would think (I have no combat experience) you would be very wary of standing up and acting normally, even if ordered. Perhaps the skill level of the AI plays a part in determining the time to stand to ? I must try that. cj
  24. We put Domination Everon on our A2 server from time to time for some nostalgia (it looks sweet upgraded), but other than that I am total OA at the moment. I bought OFP Elite for 99p from the bay for my old Xbox recently and it brings back fond memories, but as my game time is limited I would rather spend it on the newer titles. So I don't really fit into any of the categories. cj
  25. This is great (if not unexpected) news, so big thanks to BIS. I believe they deserve every cent they get as their products have entertained me for almost a decade. The DLC costs about the same as a cinema ticket which would be two hours worth of viewing, or 2-3 beers here. So I think the additional cost over and above the reasonably price OA represents good value.
