Pre-announcement ARG answers to questions discussion

Was/is UnuldorCZ a BIS spy ? cj -
I will only be worried when I see Enter Battle Walker as Driver Gunner Cargo Space Cadet etc when standing next to something. cj

I would like to be able to see my squad's gear/loadout from the UNITS view in the MAP screen, without needing to pick each unit individually and then GEAR. I know I should remember who is who and what class they are, but a quick view showing who is carrying satchels or spare ammo for example, would help speed things up in the heat of a firefight. trawling a number of screens does lead to fatal delays. cj

Can anyone else hear Rick Astley ? cj ---------- Post added at 01:54 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:53 PM ---------- "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you" - BIS Anthem. cj

Am starting to think there will be a two pronged approach - an announcement on Arma3 based around other technologies such as Outerra, with timescales set in the next 2-3 years, with all the sexy eye candy moving up a level, more support for multiprocessors/multithreading. The second piece will be a significant expansion with a campaign along the lines of OA, but based on the ARG clues and SF/Submarine/Greek Island, and associated DLC supporting resistance to an Eastern invasion of Europe. (I think it will likely be a static sub, and no large naval battle type capabilities due to the scale of engine changes needed). This will keep Arma fans happy for the next year or two, in which time Arma3 matures. That would fit the profile, or do I watch too much US crime drama ? cj

Isnt that 12/6/6 ? Could be 6 June 2012 in that case. cj

The questions all relate to OFP/Arma universe places - are all the weapons/places and dates valid in the game, ie is there an extra as a clue ? I am thinking there was an OFP mod for the Falklands, so I wonder if the other weapon questions are also current or past mods, and where the Nogova 1982 crisi is accurate (can't remember offhand) or would have been 1985 ? cj

I remember one of the early screenshots of Arma2 / Chernarus, which showed an outside gas container next to a shed and fence. I was convinced it was a real photo, but of course now we see it in game. So I don't rule anything out. cj

And it would give BIS a rich pool of ideas and expectations for the future . . . kinda like a creative focus group. cj

Maybe the story would be that Miller was born in 1985 at the time of the original OFP on one of the (Greek like) Islands, the son of one of the combatants and a local lass. He eventually ended up in the Royal Marines and into the SBS, so is a native speaker with some local knowledge/links and is covertly recruited to be part of the campaign to return to the land of his birth and help build the resistance to whatever invasion or occupying force there is, following the phase 5 map. This is where the deniable/PMC element kicks in. The wall breaking moment is the falling of a virtual wall holding back Eastern forces, backed by Chinese expansionist ambitions, allowing a MEC like force to push into Europe through an economically weakened Greece, leaving Scandinavia to Russia as payback for not intervening. This is the start of the change, with the US/Nato still tied up with middle eastern business too stretched to fully assist in defending Europe, at least initially. Lots of scope to play Miller from small scale SF missions, to guerilla operations and hit 'n' run skirmishes, up to larger battles with invading forces, much like the original CWC. Were any OFP soldiers called Miller ? cj

There was an O'Duffy who was a guerilla leader of the IRA inthe 1930s. Continues the partisan / underdog theme. cj

Do the places map to any of the locations on the phase 5 map ? cj

Phase 5 of the war to change the world flows through Turkey and into Greece in the initial stages. Perhaps the main theatre is a Greek map. cj
