  1. Although I'm not sure how many users have actually experienced this behavior, I would like to post my experience and a suggestion: Certain missions (the particular one that triggered this post was ACR 02: Patrol) include a parameter that automatically end the scenario when certain conditions are met. In ACR 02 it was the destruction of the Pandur vehicle. The result is a restart witout the previous savegames. To me this was extremly frustrating as I spent a good 3 hours on the mission and will certainly not invest more time in the near future. To avoid this, all I should have done was revert manually a second before the auto-restart. If I could have known there was this condition set for an automated restart. Now, I like the concept of certain factors resulting in automated failure, but erasing the save points makes it utterly frustrating. Please change this behavior. The simple "Revert to" selection that shows after being KIA would be the logical choice. If I have brought this on myself by a wrong setting in the Difficulty options (or elsewhere), please enlighten me! (no mods, CO 1.62.97127)
  2. Yes, Delta is correct. But I wonder what is different that his experience was better. I'm not using mods and played it with one of the latest betas, I think 95054. I have to admit, it has the power to amuse: the BTR-90 rushed to a scene which required urgent backup but had to stop, waiting for the save passage of a BUNNY
  3. A big shout out to the Devs! :bounce3:
  4. Let me say that the amount of work, skill and attention to detail that the author put in is admirable. Instead of listing what I found brilliant I would like to point out what almost ruined the whole experience for me: The pathfinding of the infiltration/extraction ground vehicles is abominable. Every bend of the road slows the car down to a crawl, and once an obstacle is encountered or, behold, a town entered, the AI behaves like it just suffered multiple strokes. I assume that the author has little control over the AI's stupidity, so maybe it might be feasible to let the player be the driver. I literarily spent minutes (including time compression) watching the demented driver inching around nonexistent obstacles only to hit a house head on. It's just a moodkiller to lead Spetznatz into battle and then getting a ride home from Abe Simpson. Also, it would be great to have some control over the direction of entry/exit. Having to travel at least 3km ingame through possible enemy hotspots is well thought out. But the direction seems to be almost always the opposite of what would be prudent. But anyway, King Nothing gave us a wonderful campaign, thank you!

    How do you parachute?

Short answer: you don't. If you're using one of the latest beta, the Boot Camp mission 02: Parachute Jump is broken. I've tried it without betas and automatically got thrown out of the plane as it should be :) I've reported it here http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?136733-ARMA-2-OA-beta-build-94444-(1-60-MP-compatible-build-post-1-60-release)&p=2183533&viewfull=1#post2183533
  6. Hi everyone, It may be just a cosmetic error, but the training mission 02: Parachute Jump doesn't work with this beta. Tried it with 1.60, went fine. 94444 fails to throw the player out of the plane after the initial chit chat. On another note, I haven't found a conclusive answer what color/contrast options will be implemented in the final patch. Could there be a community vote? Will it be selectable in the Graphics Options?

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - DEMO!

@MadDogX Thanks for your replies! Seems to be a very engaged community you have here. I think its save to say that this demo has fulfulled its purpose as I really want to have the full product. Now if only I could find a store in Europe that offers a hardcopy of ARMA 2 CO... Or should I wait for this "Gold Edition"? http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/b003zxda38/ It's really hard to get an overview of what's out there. Oh and before I forget it: Well done, developers!

ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead - DEMO!

Hello to everybody! This reporting seems strange to me. After a long hiatus I decided to give the demo a try to see how far the engine has improved since vanilla Arma 2. To say I was impressed would be an understatement. I managed some testruns in the editor to find the best options and received stunning (for my rig) graphics without any stuttering. Only mouse input lag, but that might be due to my antique mouse... As you will see, I bring a lot less firepower to the game: Athlon X2 BE-2350 (2,1ghz) ASUS M2A-VM Corsair Value Ram 2gig (dual) Nvidia 9500GT (on 258.96 WHQL) Seagate 7200.10 Win7 Prof 32bit Quality options (as I remember) 1280x1024 Normal textures and details Low AF Low post processing NO shadows and AA So the reported problems might be solved by sifting through the usual suspects: Latest drivers Turn off anti virus and/or spyware (after a full system sweep!) Turn off energy saving routines (power profiles in Win7) Defrag your harddisk (at least your ARMA directory) Check the "health" of your OS intall Play with the quality options Hope this might help someone. Two thoughts: Is the 7950GT really slower than a 9500GT? Is there an ingame function to display FPS? Would love to monitor them without third party app.
