  1. Right, they ARE cunning, aggressive and employ the tactics that seem not to have been seen or utilized in OFP which is a definite pro although it is often frustrating because you can hardly manage to beat them or outsmart them, outnumbered and outgunned. I have already moaned and groaned about that, but finally came to the conclusion that it is the way it was supposed to be - you like it or not and then you can stick to the default settings which are far more player friendly. Nonetheless, every born tactician seeking for a greater challenge has to face it. I did it again ( oooooops! ... ) and what I have found out this time is that too many missions, both default and custom, go wrong at a certain point in terms of technical stuff - for instance, they don't progress or just don't end properly. To me, for instance, the laser designating mission from the basic "Resistance" mission set didn't end at all, despite my having fulfilled all of the requirements and returning to an evac point ( maybe to a heavy enemy presence nearby ... dunno ... ) and "Shadow Killer" turned out to be rendered a failed mission with no regard to the real mission status which was 100% positive. The same I observed in case of some custom missions, just to mention "Forward Observer Lament"; there must have been some kind of a major clash between scripts or something else and the gameplay became a real mess.I played it again later on, using a different mod, not so sophisticated and everyting went smoothly. However, using SLX one is one hell of a fun.

    Vietnam campaigns

Well, an old buddy of mine, I have almost assumed that you lost the faith in the old guards ... Actually, I have not been around for quite a long time, M.I.A. or something and I even happened to uninstall the game to the last file which had not occured to me since the very beginning. However, the old love can never get to rusty to get back one day and I have been actually thinking of having it on my hard drive again and your works are definitely one of the main reasons.
  3. G'day, comrades. Awesome mod, enhancing the ol' good OFP gameplay in a way and to an extent that has never been available before - but that is what we all here know. What I am going to be questioning though is the case of the indirect, random fire that charging enemy is laying. I've pulled a couple of missions, using SLX mod and the most of my combat fatalities were due to that fact - the enemy is saturating in a wordy meaning the expected area of the OPFOR presence with lead so successfully that rarely ever we are able to survive and proceed with the mission some more, not mentioning finishing it. I love the tracers and the sound of incoming bullets, but I hate when it comes to the accomplishmenjt deprivation that accompanies many missions rendered unbeatable through the usage of the SLX mod. I thought that the enemy AI would be the biggest problem and I was turning off Super AI which I had alway had on playing my OFP yet before the mode came around. However, now I got back to turning it on and I think I can still outsmart them if put into a reasonable and balanced situation, but random gunfire is killing me off. Nevertheless, I suppouse that the Super AI doesn't change it for better, does it? ...

    DYNAMIC RM commandos (is here)

It's been too quiet at the OFPEC forum, so I decided to post it again here: Right, sounds terrific and it is truly a mission that a hard core player could be more than pleased with - if I haven't encountered the old, damn "no entry" bug while trying to regain the game status that I had previously saved  - definitely my favourite  > . Alright, first things first: I had gotten the mission and the addons put in place, started the game with no difficulty and then went to restoring the peace to the region. Everything was going smoothly with the exception of the frame rate slowing down a bit from time to time – most often I guess when the enemy was about to appear – I think it’s the case of the dynamic mission characteristics … or something. But when it comes to saving the progress I found myself twice up ‘til now unable to recall and load it – each time when I had been through two assignments before … I used the player menu save game option on completing of the mission, but if I closed the mission in progress somewhere in between, my PC was unable to restore the save made via the player in-game menu … I checked it twice; if I had been only through one mission, I could load the continue.fps file mission status and then load the autosave.fps  file status through the interface option “repeat†which sent me back to the moment when I saved the mission status via the player menu. But if it was after the second mission – first time it was the immediate mission and the other it was a regular D&D mission – and I left the mission without saving it through the in-game menu, I couldn’t get back to the moment where I left – only erase manually the continue.fps file and then return to the former save after the first mission. However, I doubt if it would work if I even saved the mission progress via the player menu after the second assignment – I think I would have to commit a suicide or something after having done so in order to avoid creating a regular continue.fps file and repeating the failure with loading it … Well, I played a few dynamic missions before and each time I didn’t get far; mostly I didn’t like that type of missions due to certain issues that I am not going to dwell on now, but I can remember that I always checked at the very beginning if I can save the mission status successfully – otherwise what’s the reason to play? … I checked that  - just in case – with regard to your mission which I really liked and had fun playing and got myself confused and irritated – I hate the missions that I cannot complete due to some technical problems. I was truly puzzled with the “no entry†error. I know it happens when you play some massive missions, but I didn’t expect that now. I was wrong. Any ideas? … BTW, even if I was luckily able to get back to my saved mission status and load it, I was always getting an error message of different types from the interface – error in loading “barracken†something or missing “namnil … “ something, even though I installed all of the addons required very meticulously as I always do so.  Damn!
  5. Oh, BTW - here's one more bizarre issue; no matter how hard I try I cannot make the lean or roll animations work for me. I've already tried out a few packs- I believe each existing that has ones - but purely in vain. The mod is not an exception unfortunatelly. What the heck? ...
  6. Well, they are not that tough after all, not tough enough for me but it’s good for the gameplay reasons – it simply has to be realistic, but remain a pastime still. I find it well-balanced, but if I play as a special operative, get a SpetsNaz counterpart on guard from behind and beat him to death in no time then it’s not that tough AI. Anyway, the mod is great. It still needs polishing, but it does the job. I would incorporate OFPEC blood into it, if possible as the visual effect is very spectacular and enhances the realism factor which I prefer. I do entirely agree with the time fused grenades argument that has been put forward before. It’s good that at least we are enabled to use knives and the stuff or perform hand – to – hand combat. I think these were the very last things that OFP was lacking and I couldn’t have found it in any other mod. The same can be said of the bayonets case. Personally I loved the presence of the shovel; my SpetsNaz assignments and raids may become real hairy thus … I just need’em to have them in range of my killing zone … I encountered the same problem with picking up the weapon after it had been dropped and I surrendered. Moreover, when I start the mod exclusively or with any other enhancements I receive the error message from the GUI saying that there is a problem with XMS single shot ammo configs or something. Real weird … That’s all for now, friends. Keep the good job up. Cheers.

    Vietnam: The Experience v0.3

Concerning the pointman - too right, I always do that when on a mission, especially when it's a special operation one; I didn't mean that it's a problem to me - I was just puzzled to see that there's a brand new unit assignment and the squad organisation yet it changes nothing in terms of gameplay and unit behaviour - I guess I was just hoping for something amazing, according to the quality of what I was testing. ... I admire the superb job the mod team has done and the workloads put into creating that; not even a minute had I the intention to diminish it or condemn - the fact is that the people like me, the profiteers of somebody else's efforts subconsciously expect the best and moan when something does not meet fully their demands . If there's something great out, we tend to treat it as a normal thing that its so good and speak few words of gratitude. Myself I try to provide as much support and positive feedback as I am only able to but the fact is that a constructive criticism is also a type of positive feedback. All I ever write at the forums is aimed at getting everything better and better and not at malice or spoilsporting. I'm not a type of killjoy - I am just a Nam freak as always.

    Vietnam: The Experience v0.3

Allright, here's a few things I've been having on my mind concerning the latest release: 1. It's great that it existst and gets upgraded consequently. The newest version is splendid in many a detail and it's a pleasure to play it - most often. 2. I feel a bit disappointed with the removal of voice commands; I know that it makes the experience more realistic especially when it comes to the 'Nam war and humping the boondocks but unless you implement into the mod something like a GB hand signal addon that enables the player to turn either to voice or gesture mode of issuing commands we have a war ot telepaths - it's not much realistic, is it? ... 3. I took a look at the units and the squad organisation; the ARVN have still the WASP names and surnames whereas the VC and the NVA regulars got it changed into Vietnamese ones ... I think they all were Vietnamese, right? ... 3. The MFR patrols and SEAL teams have the designated pointman, but he doesn't pull point at all whether on the move or in position. 4. I tried one of the missions in its updated form; it was the "Ride of the Valkyries" due to the sentiment I share - this was one of the very first mission for me to play when I installed the SEBNAM pack a couple of years ago. A funny and confusing thing to observe: we unleashed hell and laid a fierce fire onto the ground and the enemy didn't engege us at all - and it went on like that , them sitting ducks and us doing the turkey shooting until I got downed by our very own chopper. 5. It's great that you have taken care of so many tiny details like an SOG recon team member carrying an AK and having an apparently Asian appearance, for instance. 6. I got rid of half of the missions at least at the very beginning; some of them truly do not deserve to be incorporated into such a great mod - it's a waste of time and energy. And some of those that I had decided to keep remains nonfunctional indeed - I had tried to play the "Mercyful Fate" campaign from the 2.0 release, but I stuck at the third mission; I was ordered to obtain a radio, but there was none, my team didn't join me and I went ona amission alone which put me off. I resolved to wait until it gets tweaked in the forthcoming release - yesterday I dared to find out if anything has changed that far, but it hasn't at all - or I am missiong something which is not very likely. Overall, it's a thing of wonder that we have such a comprehensive Vietnamese modification. The only pity is that there are few good missions and campaigns to play with. Cheers.

    FREIES FREYA!

Sure, mate, I know that - once I played that campaign, but I didn't finished it and then I must have deleted it somehow, because I don't have it anymore installed albeit the campaign package itself is surely archivized somewhere on my spare discs. If the "Freies Freya" goes well I think I'll get back to "Yankie Stalker" later on. Well, getting back to above - mentioned "Freies Freya"; I downloaded all of the addons from the BW Mod site and the problem solved itself thus. However, I am having another trouble at the very beginning as in the first mission, "The Patrol" , the guys from no. 5 up refuse to board the APC and the mission doesn't progress at all. I used "endmission" cheat code to move on to another mission, but I didn't like that - it's not my style of playing; I like to follow the story. I am using ECP mod, DMA custom animations along with Sanctuary custom pistol animations, the material addon, NIM_dynamic weather and llaumax sky , perhaps that's the source of the problem, dunno ... ... I searched the both campaign topics here and at OFPEC, but nobody reported that penomenon. I think I tried the mission with the addons required EXCLUSIVELY and no other enhancements, but it didn't help much - actually, nothing at all. Keep the good job up, don't you dare to give it up; ... I looked through the topics devoted to your works and whatever they say I think that you're making lots of great stuff. That's why I started to follow the things of yours ... Cheers! Take care!

    Op. BS : Codename Shilka

Hi there again! Well, just like I said before I had an evening play yesterday with the mission and I must say that it's damn hard It works perfectly correct with the FFUR 2005 mod and I particularly like the onset. I hadn't advanced further than the vicinity of the second Shilka before I got frustrated and had to cut the gaming up ... I don't think that there is any reason to carry on playing in that fatal state e of mind. Therefore I think it would be much better idea to get back to it when I will have gotten back to the mood in which I will be able to appreciate your work and wits. Stay tuned. Thanks for the mission. By the way, is the whole campaign in progress just ike you advertised in the readme file? ...

    FREIES FREYA!

Hi, bardosy! This is me, burroughs. I'm still playing the "Aurora of Tonal" and having fun,but I got banned from the OFPEC forums for a month's time as they had an issue with my forum signature that I didn't want to explain. Moreover, due to heavy workloads my leisure time is scarce and put off another beta test reports for the time being. Anyway, as the Tonal campaign is so good I decided to try this one, too; I had followed the topic for some time before, but then I decided that I'm not much into a Bundeswehr campaign ... Well, I've canged my mind. The problem is that I've downloaded all of the necessary addons and a few more that are not in the list, but the GUI still demands something like a "BW_Db25" or something like that ... I might have gotten the wrong numbers ... , but it's like that. Please advise - now I really want to play it, damn it!

    Op. BS : Codename Shilka

Thanks, guys ... Well, to be honest with you I was quite eager to give it a go anyway and angry because I couldn't and definitely not with you ... The fact is that these missions get submitted here so as to allow people to find out if there's anything wrong with them and let the makers correct it. I found the bug, you made up for it andwe all are happy now to have it. I'll play it tommorow ... Considering the mod folders: I've been playing OFP a few years now and I know the method pretty well, but I was launching it with the the FFUR 2005 mod along; I think that the BW mod brings along the German army in its modern shape and up to date - therefore I didn't like to play it against the Soviet era default BIS Russians. I am interested in the military nad the history a lot and I try to keep it real: I use real life tactics, I love addons and realistic missions - if it's not playable with any modern era mod, I don't think that I would be playing that sci fi scenario at all. Anyway, thanks and sorry if I sounded rough. I'll let you know if it works or not and what the result will be if it does.

    Op. BS : Codename Shilka

Hi! I've made up my mind and wanted to give it a try, but there must be something wrong with the mission file itself; I had installed all of the necessary addons using the links you provided, but each time when I was launching it, it demanded something like a "bw_waffen" addon which I couldn't find... Then the game sends me back to the GUI with the initial mission scene screened in the background - the Novajev island seems not to have its own exclusive outro animations. Thus the mission remains even more challenging than you advertised - the first challenge is to start it at all! I wish it wouldn't be like that. S**t!!* *shift - to another mission, less frustrating technically. Let me know when the things will have changed.

    Conspiracies: Deluxe

Pity that it doesn't seem to support my download manager - each time when I tried to check whether it works that way or not, the download manager interface got freezed and once I experience a total crash and an emergency restart of my equipment - it doesn not happen that way when I use it, downloading from any other site - sometimes it just does not allow to continue downloading chuck by chunk, but that's all. I am quite eager to get it that way or another, but bearing in mind the download size and advertisement requirements to get the thing adopted by the community, I think you should have taken some more strain to get it going ... I only explain to myself that the others do not seem to have the same problem, so maybe I should just quit complaining as it's only due to my bad luck this time. Thaks for a piece of advice and cheer up. Still looking forward to try it - I once gave a go one of the previous versions, but then I gave up,can't remember wht was the cause actually.

It was one of the links provided by the Operation Flashpoint Center PL ( a Polish OFP site, the website address is http://www.ofp.bmj.pl/index.php?page=phpnews ) at the news section where the release of the mod had been announced a few days ago; the direct download link goes like that:ftp://www.ofpr.info/ofpd/unofaddons2/CONDEL.exe. Any ideas besides downloading it once again which is not my favourite option? ...

Downloaded the mod installer twice and still can't play it!! Whenever I start it via the mod shortcut and the interface is about to appear, everything crashes to the desktop where I get an error message that says: "Data file read error (zu23/edzu.paa)." What a goddamn cluster f**k. Please advise.

    Favorite Missions Topic

I honestly advise this one to everybody who likes missions that can be played in a real - life hard core way. It's perfectly built, with a convincing plot and an unbelievable care for details. Even though there are a few addons to be installed beforehand, it's really worth any effort to do so as these masterpiece has an extreme replayability value and actually contains three different scenarios in just one mission. As soon as you have all of the required addons, it's good to look for another one example of Klavan's craftmanship - "Operation Weasel" which is a prequel to "Dirty Trick ... " I waited quite a long time for the re-opening of the OFPEC mission depot to advertise that one piece of a real hard core pure OFP entertainment. Bon apetit. http://www.ofpec.com/index.p....28138.0

    Cry Havoc - Campaign

I think I can remember that - I was alsopuzzled, dazed & confused. If I only recalled that weel, the author had an issue concerning reading the readme file meticulously and you had to get to the very end of it and there was the password in plain writing. YEAH, A KIND OF SICK & DEVASTATING JOKE TO SOMEONE WHO HAS JUST SPENT LOTS OF TIME LOOKING FOR AND DOWNLOADING THE ADDONS. I hope I helped ... Good luck.

    DAC-SF-OP-Taliban

Allright, looks like I've finally solved it! First of all - there was a clash between the old and the latest version of the Afghan Pack - just like you suggested; I installed the previous one pretty olng ago. The source pack had a different name, therefore I didn't have a clue that they both have got something in common. I backed up the old files and installed the current version - the problem with the nasty "nagun" vanished never to appear again. There's one more thing - the author of the mission was a little bit scruffy and his readme file is somewhat awkward; it says just that I need Blackhawks, but as it turned out these were Pavehawks. I am not much into air weapons and both might have lots in common, but these two categories come in two different packages, so when we mean OFP there is a huge difference! By far I am missiong one of the CBT addons and the one i've just downloaded appeared to be apparently damaged but I think I'll sort it out pretty easy from now on. Thanks a lot again - you really helped. Take care & see you.

    DAC-SF-OP-Taliban

Muchos gracias, companiero. Certainly, that should have been easy to guess - I mean the link between the shortcut and the Northern Alliance. Personally, I also thought that it might have had something to do with the Russian handgun called "nagant" that was widely in use in there in times of the Soviet Revolution. Unfortunatelly, it looks like I am possesing the correct version of the Afghan Pack. However, the fact is that at least twice when I was trying top download it, the package got damaged during the tranfer onto my HD, I suppose ... I'll try to download it once again, although the last time I was doing that I tested the .rar file in advance ... Muchos besitos grandes.

    Operation Black Mamba - UPDATED!

First of all - damn those nasty typing mistakes that I tend to come across all the time whenever I have just added my reply; if you happen to find any - shoot them point blank, please Well, I have finally managed to watch the intro - it was a matter of installing the correct versions of the addons required, just like you had advised - thanks again! Maybe it's not the most thrilling intro I have ever seen, but it definitely explains a lot and truly helps one to immerse himself in the atmosphere and creates a proper mood for a good gameplay. And in terms of technical correctness there is nothing to complain - with the exception of the last few shots, showing the Ranger team in a Zodiac offshore the Tonalese coast; I think it would be good idea to utilize the NV view in those, just to have the scenes neat & clear. But certainly it's a minor thing ... Allright, sticking to the point - I am going to give the new version a go tonight. I haven't gotten through the whole thread, so I might get wrong and misunderstand something. If so let me know if another beta test as I assume is desired or not? ... I could probably post one afterwards. Cheers! Rangers lead the way!

    Operation Black Mamba - UPDATED!

Allright, I guess you're quite right and I'll will try to sort it out right away - I mean as soon as I have my hands back on my PC; the laptop I am using at the moment is not very useful when it comes to OFP and refers to any form of a gameplay . BTW,thinking back of the mission in it's former shape I can recall perfrctly that there was something about the airstrike availabiliheck?!ty. But I can also remember pretty well that despite being in a real trouble, I couldn't utilize any suport as there wasn't any option to do so ... What the heck What for do we need that Hornet addon then? ... Did I miss anything playing it before? ...

    Operation Black Mamba - UPDATED!

Saluto, companieros! I had once played the previous version of the mission and I liked it very much despite a few drawbacks that generally didn't spoil the gameplay that much. BTW - I really dunno why there was so much mess with all those complaints with it? ... I find the mission very amusing, carefully elaborated and on top of that allowing me to play it my favourite hard core style which consists mainly of "keep - it - real" attitude which is great: real-life tactics, real - life behavoiur and thrilling environment. However, I decided to play the new version a few months ago and it turned out to be a little confusing. In the end I managed, using this thread, to solve the problem with the teammates drowning at the very beginning etc., but I have never seen the intro yet!! each time when the mission starts and the intro gets downloaded it ends up with the error message from the interface that there has been something wrong with the "soar/soarpilots". it says; "error loading bas_soar/bas_soarpilotw.p3d (Magic). Thanks
  25. @Jackal326 - thanks a lot! Your piece of advice helped a lot and really did the job. Thus I have the texture replacements work and the custom islands available from the mod folder @wgl_islands which is handy or just works and keeps everything in the right place. No luck still with the vegetation replacements though; I have the textures on the default original BIS islands replaced with the new ones, but trees and bushes remain intact and immaculate. That's not the final effect we,ve been all working for. Any idea perhaps, please? ... @Q - yes, it's "dta" and it has always been; I checked carefully the root, the path, the folder names and the reference line. Removing the spaces as Jackal326 advised got the whole thing working - with the exception of the vegetation replacements, but now the game with the mod launched crashes to the desktop almost as soon as I open the editor and load the stuff or start a mission ... What the ... ?
