there was some big presentation for the press few days ago, so after the end of information embargo, we'll all get a lot of the new stuff I believe. Umm...I think you're wrong. They didn't say there will be Russian Army. They said the pro-communist party takes over the state on Chernarus. Then the democratic party asks USA for help. Nobody has said there will be Russian Army yet. If you don't belive me check out latest preview and what about the Hinds with Russian army markings, huh? the present of the Russian army was mentioned earlier anyway

Something new about that preview? Yep, no new pics except this little one... and no new info I think... nothing we wouldn't know. Besides that, author of the article liked the new AI, which is in his words, big improvement since OFP and Armed Assault. He also liked new possibilities in command and its simpler use. credit goes to Geo for his scans

There are going to be civies... and you can even talk with them and get some informations (for example about enemy movement) About buildings.. I don't have any problem with them... there's again a lot of classic commie buildings... and they're "simple"

About fire and smoke effects... it was stated in the article that there were no particle effects yet (explosions, smoke, etc.) They're going to be done later. And I also noticed the lake on the left of this screen. Especially the direction of the waves seems to be all right now

looks really great! but I downloaded all the screens to be sure, cause the first article saying, that there's a worldwide embargo for all the new screens (the official ones I think) till Thursday.

Edit: Here's a new screen (or rather capture from the vid): original screen It's from this article on Tiscali Games (only in Czech). It's just an annoucement about forthcoming ArmA2 article on this website wich will be available this Thursday together with new screens (reportedly with much better look) and later also some new vids will be showed. just one more thing... the Chernarus map wil be 175 sq. km's big (236 sq. km's with water areas) and release date still counting with Christmas 2008

FCS? May I ask what's that mean? If not Future Combat System Fire Control System on the AFV's. I would have though BIS would realize by now that we want more than a rudimentary vehicle combat system similar to Battleflop2... Well, when the game is still using the old models, I wouldn't expect already implemented any new feature on these vehicles. I don't expect much improvements in that way anyway.

A really love that parallax bump-mapping thing... Ground texture looks more plastics, it brings a lot of life to the flat texture of the ground.

some improvements I didn't see mentioned here: - improved lighting (the sun is not only source of light anymore > reflection) - better optimalization of vegetation (about 30% faster) - improved AI navigation accuracy (from 2m in ArmA to 30cm in ArmA II) so now AI can take a cover behind the corners, dustbins, can drive on the right side of the road, etc.) - get in/get out animation for each position in the vehicle - possibility to play for 4 characters and another 10 when one of the main characters die

I like to know reason to why they´ll drop this features out of ArmA 2? It is rly so demanding to hardware to make it working in large scale islands or what? I hope they will release at least that demo where u can satchell all houses and those are destoyable part by part getting down and the code is done so why they cant even support that in ArmA2? It would take a lot of time and as you said hardware demand to implement it into the game.
