    Persian Hammer

Yeah well, can't seem to find the file. I've downloaded both packs and I am using the mods that are required (as long as the links provided are sufficient). What file is it, and where should it go? So yeah, I did think of that...

Mine says: You can not play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.p85_config, but the intro starts and tells about the campain. When its over, and I press next on the debrief, the game crash.

vini_lessa: Well, I have a few points to back that up. It seems like it all boils down to taste with this one. For me, I find the characters shallow and cheezy. In real life, no special forces team would ever, ever engage an assault on any base ever. SF teams can be forward observers, saboteurs and so on, but they are never tasked with clearing out enemy bases. Your pretty much dropped down on a 250 km2 map with a gun in your hand, 4 mates and a to-do list with places all over the area. Missions like this is well planned beforehand in real life, and the same team is not assigned on several tasks at once so far away from eachother leaving them to deside what to do when. There are people who like the campain, for me it was a huge turn off. The two main points is that RAZOR decides the outcome of the war like some super team, like modern day superheros with guns. The other is the characters, they are simply to cocky, arrogant and blunt. I still love ARMA2 very much. Coop with ACE and other mods together with a dedicated, serious group have been unbelievable. Moments I've had with this game in multiplayer will be remembered along time.

My intention of this thread is exactly that. I am more than content with the contents of both game engine and units. Some performance trouble still to, but mostly everything works perfect. A nice, well balanced campain for download is worth a lot. I could have payed alot for both the red hammer campain and the resistance campain for OFP without the extra content also. It would definatly be worth the money.

The tools they made are state of the art... I mean, you could make a decent feature like film with the ARMA 2 engine given the ressources, yet the campains feel empty.

It seems I finaly found the words I was looking for. This is something that has bugged me for a long time with new ARMA games. I never ever played OFP more than a few hours multiplayer... I must have played several hundred, or maybe thousand hours of OFP single player. ARMA made me leave BI, I tried the campaign at a friend and didn't even play trough. I never got to experience what ARMA had to offer becouse of the campaign. I bought queens gambit AFTER arma 2 becouse of that. Arma 2 and OA are games that requires alot from the player in terms of patience, practise and troubleshooting to get running smoothly. Alot of potential costumers can get put off by the campaign(s), and becouse of that, never really discover the potential in ARMA2. The OA campaign doess a better job in that respect than the original ARMA 2 campain, but it isn't even close to OFP. Every year, I play through OFP, Resistance or red hammer. OFP is amongst one of the games that never die on my hard drive. It's among the best written campains ever. Both expention packs was worth twise as much as I payed for the campains alone. A well written campain would get more people to the scene. Those few people who like hard ass soliders spitting "kick ass time"-lines is not really ARMA style players anyhow. People who like ARMA cheerish the realism, slow pace and attention to detail that this lovely game has. New potential ARMA players is more likely to be put off than drawn into the ARMA universe through the campain. This I find sad...

    ARMA 2: 1.07 Patch Released!!!

Bis should be made world government... or something
  11. One of my biggest dissappointments with ARMA II is that you don't have any mouse cursor anymore, like you had in OFP (and I think this is the case for ARMA as well). When targeting, it was very usefull to be able to highlight targets with your mouse while driving, and selecting with right mousebutton, ordering to fire with left button. I can't see why this has been changed, becouse it worked so good in ofp. It's really annoying that you'll have to toggle between targets with TAB, and during a flyby, it forces me to fly over again to hit what I want. The target command menu is not a valid option either, becouse it's so difficult to reach. Same with driving cars, very limited view without freetrack/trackIR. Before, the view followed your cursor. What about adding this as something you can choose in options or something? I can't see how this is hard to include, when it has been a part of previous titles. Thank you
  12. The tanks (modeled on top of cars) at airsoft event Berget uses a simular system in fact :P
  13. I find the campain to be not to exiting. I like parts of it, especially securing weapons from militia groups and laser designating targets, but my main issue with the campaign is simply that it's the feel of "super hero" I get from it. A team of four soliders, special ops or not, is never going to single handedly define the outcome of any given conflict. No way in hell sir. In Ofp, I felt I contributed as much as I could do. Special ops missions made sense taking out important units to help larger operations later in the game, the same with tank and helicopter missions wich I enjoyed very much. But nontheless... the game is brilliant, just brilliant. And the patch 1.05 makes up for every misstake from my point of view. The extra campain was much better, though short

    High Command instructions?

I agree 100% If they implement this, you could choose to play any warfare map as an extreemly tactical, realistic rts. Super realistic red alert if you like, being able to complete any sp warfare map without even fireing a shot.

    I must say

I Iike this. I am currently waiting for that woman in "manhattan" to come out of church, reading the forums and chill out while I wait. Then all of a sudden I hear shooting and my team are under fire from a random patrol... What game other than ARMA would this happen? I love this game deeply!

Exactly... no other game could do this as far as I know.

Codemasters Expands For Nice New Shooter

I have a PS3 soledy for PSone games and blueray films... A new codemasters game is not interesting at all, frankly. Oh, one advantage consoles have... No friggin DRM. The new DRM for Assasins creed II requires that you are online on a fast internet connection as long as you play... Now thats restrictive...
  19. Have been a member of the group for some time. Can do Norwegian, English (british), English (american) and maybe some other accents
  20. Hell, wanted to write some more on this topic... OFP brings back so many memories... Like when me and my best friend made a norwegian special forces camp in the middle of the desert, and all of a sudden you could hear this tivoli music playing and a buss full of tourists came riding by, followed by a shitload of civilians on bikes. Oh, and the awe it gave me to find out that the motorcycle they added to resistance was in fact a JAWA, owning a JAWA mosquito myself, it was a blast. To this day, operation flashpoint is among the best games I've ever played, and the same goes to both Resistance and Red Harvest. Even though they where expantion packs, they brought more value than most full priced games I've ever spend money on. I started playing in 2001 with the demo. Play through the campain roughly one time every year. Hooked... Bought ARMA and ARMA II at the same time, being a bit dissapointed with ARMA I for several reasons after trying it at realease (+ my rig wasn't good enough). Now I enjoy both ARMA and ARMA II with my new, up to date rig <3

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

As far as my experience goes with suit games (wich is not to far I am afraid), shoot-outs are not allowed expect on special places. The whole hunt is the point here, tracking eachother down and so on. Googles are required in gun areas. But you bring a good point, safety first.

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

what about suit games? The thing I find most likeable with airsoft is suit games. Where role-playing is in the main seat. From what I've heard, suitgames are often based upon cops'n'robbers. Mafia cartells or something play against CIA-like players. I have even heard about people buying distance microphones, tapping equipment and other special agent equipment to make the simulation as close to real life as possible. Sometimes people fly around Europe picking up packages, attending "secret" meetings and such, maybe even without fireing a single bullet during the whole game. And of course, in more traditional milsim events, you'll have non-combatants playing civilians, police, refugees, hostages and so forth. Sparks: I think I am going to Berget myself, hope to see you there then :D

Airsoft & Paintball and those in between.

Hey all, is there anybody here that plays milsim or airsoft? Airsoft is like paintball in many aspects, exept that we use real military uniforms and airsoftguns witch look like real weapons. In addition, most airsofters spend alot of time on realism, teamwork and often on role playing. When there are big games in norway, we usually play with two large teams, have detailed objectives, have a simulated conflict between two sides and often use statistics like townspeople, TV reporters and so on. anyone?
