Tried to reply to your other post Spook, before it got locked..... Problem is, so far I can see no link between Armed Assault and Cenega in any of the links you have provided. (edit: I dont think Cenega are the publisher, only this is Cenega's list of the competition. What does JRC CZECH a.s. mean? or KOMPLET/TITULKY for that matter?) To be honnest, the screen grab doesn't help things progress at all either... Come on, I would have at least expected a news flash anouncing a new developer surely?!? Hence I remain unconvinced until perswaded otherwise BIG EDIT!!!!! QUAKE 4 is listed as Feb 06 in the excell sheet. Linky Case closed. Which is H1 2006, yeah? Which backs up what we were always told.

I vote for an official wallpaper each month with a small callender in the corner and and the BIS logo. It would be something nice to look forward to Then, just like the Stalker web pages, kids can leave their wize comments: "OMFG, that pixal shadings sooooo last year!!" Come on BIS, it would be fun and I need a new wallpaper.

I had a quick look at a couple of reviews Example The example above showing reasonable performance on the following games: Unreal Tournament 2004 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay Far Cry Half-Life 2 D3D RightMark ShaderMark 2 First thought is a driver issue Have you the latest/optimum drivers? Do other games new/older work? Incidently, what screen resolution are you trying to run OFP at? This bit suprises me as OFP is not normally at all fussy about resolution.

I can only agree with the previous posters and say that for a beta, this sky shows great promise. I was going to provide ssome screen shots of a couple of areas I wanted to mention but OFP kept crashing. Only thought at the end of the night to check the flashpoint.rpt and discovered that -nomap at been disabled for some reason, doh! Anyway, apart from some of the textures being a bit grainy, and some skys having very mirrored textures (see Zorbtek's 3rd and 4th pic), the effects used are very effective. My only personal issue is that this sky pack is a little too dramatic at the moment, but that won't stop me downloading further versions. Keep up the good work!

Hey Hit_Sqd_Maximus, I've almost the same spec as you and have not encountered this grey texture. What drivers are you using? The latest Nvidia one (81.98?) works fine for me. Any other settings which may give us clues?

</a>Direct requests to downloads at OFPEC are not allowed, i.e. the above link doesn't work.... That aside, I'll download anything that uses PUKF's stuff. I'll let you know how it works out tomorrow when im back on-line.

The One? You mean like Neo? Placebo's the Community/Public Relations Manager. I presume you can trust what he says!

Since when was the end of January (which is still a week away by the way) a significant date? Im not a marketing expert but given a date of ~H1 2006, i'd expect a media blackout until E3. Good things come to those who.......

As mentioned above, the demonstrations work much much better on headphones, the reason being that the recording can dictate exactly what information goes to the left and the right ear. Using loudspeakers, there is much less control due to speaker location, head orientation and the effect of the acoustics within the room you are in. It is correct that in real life what you hear in one ear as opposed to the other is determined by your head shape and how it delays/shaddows sound and therefore how well these demonstations work is determined by how close your head shape is to the head used to create these sounds. It is an opinion that in a market that is currently dominated by graphics, that the next big leap in game development will be an incredible sound environment. Cheers, Ade McC BSc(Hons) Acoustics

Wow, that was an unexpected suprise - thanks Sanctuary! Will try out tonight and report back tomorrow. Cheers!

Its already been scanned Stegman. See the link on page 2 (copied below). Linky Edit, Stegman, I disagree. I dont see anything in the article that hasn't been confirmed in the past. If anything, the article is a little conservative on anything new. But its a great overview for the non-OFP player and gives a small taster of what is to come.

There was a nice (if short) delta force 2 mission that basically involved being at a particular spot on the train track to lay mines and get in position before the train arived. Any delay and you missed the train. Then it was a case of mowing down the guards and perhaps a gunship (something like that, my memory is sketchy). Im probably remembering it through rose-timted glasses though DF2 kept me entertained for a bit.

Publisher : To Be Announced

Linky hope this works.... small section on OFP2 that i am scanning too. Edit: Im not delibertatly going against Revens thoughts by scanning this in, and I agree that people should buy the magazine for this and other excellently written articles. But many people visiting this forum are not from the UK and will not be able to get a copy otherwise. Dont want to cause trouble. Edit, decided to type the bit on Next Generation Game... PS, im off-line shortly for next few days as visiting friends/familly/etc.....so have fun, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See you on the battlefield 2006!

Give me 5 minutes, i'll have a scan on-line....

use the campaign cheat to list all the various missions then select the alternative to 'After Montignac' (or however its spelt - i'm sat at work). Bear in mind it is part of the alternative mission that in one way or another all of your teammates die.

New Info PCGamer(UK) January 2006. Has an article (and old picture) on both ArmA and OFP2. Will scan this afternoon if/when possible unless anyone has a bit more free time.... No new content that I can establish. Side 2 of the DVD also has the original review in PDF format for nostalgia fans! I've still got the mag itself somewhere but its a nice read. Edit - there are some pics on the disk too but they are the 4 from the armedassault web page. -
PC Format (UK) Dec 2005 (Current Edition) DVD contains 1 self extracting exe containing the following folders (their names not mine) and my gueses to their contents based on the read-me's: Anim Replacement - Santuary Animation Pack 1.5 Patrol Pack Blackhawks - BAS_Blackhawks version 1.00, BAS_SOAR version 2.00 CATIntro - no sure, pbo size 79,794KB DXDLL - self explanitary Good Lookin' Troops - YK Modern U.S. Army Infantry Pack - Version 1.52 High Detail Skies - LlauMax sky pack Version 1.2 Lean-Rolling Animation - OFP Animations Enchancement V 0.52 Beta Two Islands - Anjou 1939-1944 V1.3 SE Weapons for Good Lookin' Troops - Jam 2 files I presume PC Format seeked permission. Hope this brings fame and fortune to all those involved. Hope that this may save someone a download. I realise that most people just download this kind of stuff anyway but there seems to be more and more of this type of stuff as ArAs gets closer. Worth having a dedicated thread?

Or should Kegety, Sanctuary etc be charged a cost to cover the costs of the disk production and for being given huge exposure to their readers, the majority of whom wont have heard of these addons? No, of course not. The whole excersise is of benifit to everyone and can only help to boost interest in ArmAs and the current extensive modding community. -

I was reading through this just last night. It was a nice little guide, even if the bit on mission building didn't go quite deeply enough for me. I only read the guide once I'd finnished CWC so by the nature of OFP the solution provided wasn't the only (or most effective way) to complete missions, but was of interest never the less. On the subject of the gold edition, I quite liked the mission early on where you have to shoot down the two chinooks, a truck load of soldiers then head to the base in the north. Before knowing the easy way (giving a launcher to two of my team and let them do the tricky bit), i'd have to quickly pick up a launcher in the tent and try and shoot them myself (typically missing). It would then be quite frantic as enemy soldiers parachutted in and made their way closer. Enemy soldiers parachuting in is cool BTW, probably why I like the mission defending the beach (Rats Nest?) in CWC.

It certainly can't be argued that it was used for profit. The addons aren't mentioned on the front or back of the magazine (sealed) and isn't mentioned on the DVD case. The file is the last item on the menu on side two of the disk and does not refer to any specific mod. Its a random bunch of addons chosen I must say! PS its my bosses copy of the disk so no idea whats in the mag itself. Im a PC Gamer reader given the chice -

Nooooo! Change it to normal and you will see a huge improvement. High and Very high are very demanding so are only really good for screenshots. (my humble opinion! Not really, all BIS have done is not put an upper-limit on their engine, which is nice and has kept OFP looking great over these years, looking better every time I upgrade. Compare that to other games of this period which have limits set based on the days technology (800x600 max or 16bit colour). Edit - I refer you to the answers given by Llauma in the thread below. His answer is much more eliquent! Linky
