Couple of new AA pics on ofp.info taken from Czech TV station TopGames (plus the accompaning video) http://ofp.gamepark.cz/
-
Nope, its the new and improved ArmA tractor that is most anticipated. Notice how its been strangely absent so far?

Usually when I bought PCFormat in the past (I buy PC Gamer nowadays - prefer their style) 'First play' usually refered to the magazines first play, that is to say that the magazine wuld have a play of an early build and then have a page preview of how things are going. I've never seen it in the past refer to a demo on the disks. But obviously, I would like to be proved wrong of course. But AA was originally supposed to be OFP 1.5 as it was considered to be an improved update to OFP. Now, as we know that neither the original islands or the campaigns will be shipped with AA, then AA cannot be considered to be an update and therefore cannot be considered to be version 1.5. Therefore the case for v2.0 I think is a valid statement.

so thats why they call it good friday.....

Details, we need details: what soundcard are you using? what is the rest of your system specs? are you drivers up to date/ most appropriate ones? what version of flashpoint are you using? Some people have problems with flashpoint and the soundblaster soundcards. A search of the troubleshooting forum should throw up something.

Does this happen to other games / applications or just OFP? A shot in the dark is that your system is overheating. Have you checked your cpu temperatures etc? Are all of your fans working? Have you cleaned the dust out of the computer? Edit: im a plonker - 'CreateIndexBuffer failed 8876086a - out of memory' Linky or Linky 2 Lesson learnt, search the forum and edit posts.

I hope that in ArmA on the loadout screen in multiplayer that the "Im ready" button and the "disconnect" button are not right next to each other. Grrrr That is all.
-
Think I understand? Please excuse me if im not l33t enough. Right click My Computer and select properties. Select the Advanced tab. Select Settings under Startup and Recovery. Makes sure the Automatically restart box is unticked. This may stop the computer retarting on error and allow you to check your flashpoint logs etc. It may be a long shot, but if the only thing you have changed is something to sort out your 3D device, then this may be the cause of your errors?

Searching AvonLadys excellent FAQ for score http://www.theavonlady.org/theofpfaq/ give: but there are other topics in this forum that repeat this. Edit - Thanks AvonLady!
-
A quick search on Google for something like OFP D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE brings up plenty of people with similar problems and solutions, but the quickest way is to do what AvonLady suggests above. Edit - for a 13 year-old, your spelling is appalling

More death animations ?
ade_mcc replied to PartizanasLT's topic in OFP : MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
You'll probably get shouted at for cross-posting, thread bumping, wrong forum, etc. Just rember that due to being an international forum that many people will be either asleap or at work or busy elsewhere, so be patient. You say you like the ffur death animations, so a ffur thread may be a good place to start looking in the meantime? -
If I was showcasing my game to a load of journalists and I wanted to show them as many features and different units in a short period of time, I would implement a switch player function for that very purpose. Someone videos it and it ends up on t'internet and suddenly its 'gospel'. Absolutely no bearing on what may or may not be in the final game. Wait for a demo or official video at least.
-
Yeah, come on PUKF, where are your supposive arial unit? Edit: Oh, you meant aerial. Question still stands. Seriously. Back on topic, units look great lads. Dont rush these things.

Used sensibly, I think its a great option to have, even if its not used for the majority of the time. For example if it was there as an option in single player campaign, then I could replay the campaign, but in a different role in some of the missions all without having to tinker with the mission code. Something like that would add great replay value without too much effort. The second reason I like it is because I think it will really appeal to the BF/CS crowd and getting a share of that market would bring in great revenue to go in the pot for game 2. Dont like playing with the BF/CS TK'ers? Get yourself a private clan quickly. Case closed BIS make lots of money, everybody wins.

I would love to play the ArmA technology demo! And with the character switching mentioned above, we can currently switch rolls all the time, leap in and out of various vehicles and aircraft, use whatever equipment we come across. I wouldn't worry about it.

OFP -> Gold release -> v1.46 -> Resistance -> v1.96 -> ArmA Its natural progression

1280x1024 There didn't seem to be much if any performance drop when increasing from 1024 x 768 so hey! Edit - p.s. any reason you want to know or just curious?!?

Ambiance, especially amiant sounds is a great thing when implented correctly. Only problem I did encounter though was when playing one of the recent relased mission pack by WWIIEC for Liberation1941-1945. I survived a couple of waves of attack and then presumably through some trigger not triggering, nothing happened. But I could hear some not to far off shots being fired and so headed off in the general direction. Ten minutes later and realising that I was no nearer the action and that the apparent direction of the didn't change when changed direction, I realised that it was just ambiant sounds playing. It was a bit missleading, but this negative is outweighed by the atmosphere added.

CD/DVD option for those not on broadband and/or want a nice box; Download option for those who can't buy the box and/or can't wait. Everyones a winner! Could use steam as a distributer and get the game seen all over the place. Well, it worked for the Darwinia guys anyway - send them the money and you can download the game straight away AND they send you the boxed game in the post. Bonus! Or use some other distribution system. Theres more to life than Steam....

I'm intreagued. How are these guys messing you around?

What I *hope* to be in ArmA (but could easily be a suggestion for Game2) During multiplayer, press a key to show a screen of players and their custom face for that mission, for easier recognition of who's who. Particularly good for when teams split into groups to get into different vehicles heading to different objectives. I'd find it usefull anyway. Maybe it can be scripted already? Maybe I should get to know people better.

Retaliation is a worthwhile download, I agree. I didn't like Red Hammer, mainly because I found sections of it incredibly hard, despite attempting them in a manner of different ways. The missions were also a bit lack luster and it just didn't have the charm of either cwc or resistance. But this is just my view.

from wheres my rabbit? : Featuring the classics: Eilert Pilarm -- "Jailhouse Rock" Joe Meek -- "Telstar" (demo) B.J. Snowden -- "In Canada" The Shaggs -- "Philosophy of the World" and of course: Shooby Taylor, the Human Horn -- "Stout-Hearted Men" Plus a whole lot more. Yes, I too recommend this album!

Yeah, I should at sometime get my own unique brand of trombone rock uploaded for the masses at some stage. The kids will love it and I will be rich. You heard it here first. Was dissapointed with Bloodhound Gangs 'Hefty Fine' but still went to see them live, and appreciate the songs a lot more now. However, the support act Electric Eel Shock rocked! Think Japanise Heavy Metal with a naked drummer (luckily he has a carefully positioned sock). They are fantastic live and hopefully are touring again soon. Otherwise, Betaband, Magic Numbers Franz Ferdinand etc. etc.
