    Depends on the version... First SP Demo ever: Mood and possibilities: 10 Sound: 7 Graphics: 8 (not bad for such big open areas) Fun: 7 (good AI) OFP V1.0: Mood and possibilities: 10 Sound: 7 Graphics: 8 Fun: 3 (AI much too good, much too much bugs) Netcode: 1 (unenjoyable) Comments: Never seen so much light and shadow in one game and I don`t like to play the Guinea pig for software and pay lots of money for it! OFP V1.4: Mood and possibilities: 10 (do you know anything better?) Sound: 7 Graphics: 8 Offline Fun: 7-8 (depends on mission/campaign) Netcode: 7 (much improved but still not good enough even with ADSL and big hardware - and an hard job to integrate MP although the game was started as SP) Comments: Still too many bugs, but lot of things have been drastic improved Final comment: - should have been released at least six month later - development tools should have been released at release date - since the VBS it seems that the normal customer is no longer needed, VBS get`s all and OFP nothing. - Hope that there will be an OFP2 which will be released in an final stage with even more possibilities.

  6. I just tested the flamethrower (looks and sounds cool!) and the artillery. Not bad for the beginning and for an inofficial addon. You can only use the artillery for indirect fire and not as an Pak (Panzer Abwehrkanone - Anti Tank Weapon) but nevertheless an good addon. How long does it take until we see the first (T)DM artillery matches online?

  8. Cool! Need to try it out this evening... Can you use it against tanks? Now we need to command an artillery battery via radio for support. Sneak to the direction of the enemy, discover his position and call artillery strike via map. And then there would be delayed explosions at random spots to an given radius around the given coordinates. And there must be direct fire (line of sight) and indirect fire (artillery strike). Cool! And later when importing of new models is possible we need MLRS!

    Subordination mod?! What do you got to do in this mod guessing by the name? Not following the orders of your leader and as an result of your subordination you go to jail and then battle at the court? ROFL I wait for an GTA-3 mod but of course with real world parameters and an much bigger environment than the PS2 version. And in OFP you got an Cessna which can fly and not just drive and stealing an tank is much easier. But the ice cream truck is missing! (Edited by animalica at 2:02 am on Jan. 1, 2002)

    "The Software That Lets You Run Windows With A Joystick!" I know an other OS which can be run with an joystick - GEOS for C-64! And when I remember it right my two Datel Action Replays for Amiga could also be operated with an joystick. And I think that the Gravis Gamepad which I used long time ago also had such features but I`m not sure.

    I want an OFP MP add-on and I\'ll PAY for it!

    I tried the Tribes2 demo out today ( ftp://sierra.de/tribes2/demos/t2demo.exe - 80 MB) and I must say that the maps dont look so big like in OFP - maybe 1 squaremile. It`s very foggy and the landscape has many steep hills and deep valleys so you can´t look that far. The built in server list was an 700 Mhz PC (Mhz`s are displayed in the list) and there were approximately 25-30 players playing. I got an 1,4 GHZ, 512 MB ram PC with an 64 MB graphics card and ADSL connection and it was an fluid gameplay. If there would be such an landscape in OFP and such an bad weather I bet that OFP would be also much more fluid in gameplay. Or move the Tribes2 vehicles and many players to an OFP landscape and it will lag too. (Edited by animalica at 5:04 am on Dec. 28, 2001)

    Yes, it`s sad that OFP wasn`t planned as an MP game in the beginning but BIS improved it alot since V1.0. But small scaled battles with 4-8 human players against the AI is better than really big battles. With small teams you got to cooperate (especially against AI) while big battles are only slaughtering where no one else care about any orders - except you play in an clan or with buddies. Before release I thought that OFP would support big online battles but it didn`t - maybe in OFP2... And connecting in midst of an mission isn`t very useful - where are my buddies? They got an advance of 5 minutes and are 5 kilometers away - and how do I get to the island when there is no boat or chopper left? It`s not an normal mindless 3D shooter! And if you need an good tool to connect to online games get All-Seeing Eye from UDP-Soft! Supports up to now more than 20 online games. http://www.udpsoft.com/eye

    Could BIS please implement "peek around corner"?

    I always look around corners with "disconnecting" my head from the body. The way Solid Snake look around corners in MGS or MGS2 would look of course much better - but how often do you need to look around corners in OFP? Leaning would be nice but in the infantry simulation Infiltration (an Unreal Tournament mod - http://www.planetunreal.com/infiltration ) leaning is supported but I never used it - because aren`t 3D shooter complicated enough to handle with all the key functions since Doom?

Many time later an BMP arrived and tried to enter the opposite wood without any reason and got stucked - which made it easier for me. Then the mission won`t end and I searched both woods for remaining soldier but didn`t found anything. Then I returned to the start point and followed the road to the road block. In the small village on my route I found an Ural with troops and I wasted my last AT for it. Then I continued my travel and suddenly the mission ended succesful. Here would an waypoint to the village be very useful. Entre Deux: I directed my troops on the hill at the village, then I sneaked to the south, crawled towards the T-72, shot the AK soldier nearby, the BMP get`s nervous, the troops runned towards my position - and I managed to get in the tank just in time! I drove off with full speed but the BMP followed me but I didn`t saw it. I drove in a bow to my guys to let them board the tank but then the BMP attacked me. I fleed, switched to gunner and shot the BMP. Then I drove back to my guys, let 2 of them enter the tank and opened the russkie season. When the mission won`t end I called the M113 and many minutes later the choppers which found the last men. An real entertaining mission! Mayhem at Montignac - or Slaughterhouse Montignac? I tried this mission many times to see how I could finish it - but the A10`s NEVER showed up. Finally I decided to sneak into the village to see if I could "organize" an BMP or even an tank. I crawled from bush to bush, waited for a few russkie patrols to pass and finally reached the BMP - only to discover that it wasn`t empty! D`Oh! And no satchel charge! #§%&! So I crawled to the next bush, called the A10`s, the tanks and the other squad and my boys from the south. The A10`s never arrived, the tanks get wasted fast (only one survived the first wave - and after repairing he didn´t made it another minute) also the two squads. After 5 minutes I was the only remaining US force on the map. I stayed in the bush when two soldiers appeared a few meter from my bush away. I killed both which alarmed a few other soldiers. If you use `nades they don`t get it where they come from! But if you stay in the bushes they don´t see you at all if you don`t shoot. It ended with 1x T-80, 2x T-72, and 27 dead enemies (including crews). It took over 2 hours (mission time 1:36h!) and lot of hedgehopping and save and reload. Awesome, thrilling, frightening!!! Convert it to an human vs AI MP map! Not to forget ammo boxes with satchel charges and of course an sniper. This campaign rocks! There are only a few minor flaws which can`t spoil the fun.     This is the first campaign which I can enjoy and complete! It should be playable for all players, newbies, advanced and hardcore players. The missions were nothing else happens than troops arriving adds lot of atmosphere to the game. In two of this non-action missions an chopper crashed without any reason - LOL! Some of the Meaux missions got too long gaps in it which make it temporarily boring. Even with time 4x it takes forever for the last few troops to attack. In my actual Meaux mission I should get in an chopper because someone wants to talk with me at the airport - but when I arrive there what should I do? The voices in the game are very hard or not to understand - reminds me of the "Say" program of the good old CBM Amiga Workbench but 3 times crappier. Subtitles would be an nice addition! But I would say it`s in general an good campaign which isn`t frustrating like the original BIS/CM campaigns. And I hope to see an Ruskie or Resistance campaign in the future - more an resistance campaign because you see too much US or russian missions/campaigns or maps in the last 6 months.

    XMas Trees

    Merry X-Mas to all! Really no one made an "X-Mas ADDOn"?! I expected for the West soldiers "Santa Claus" dressing and the trucks converted to red "Coca Cola" ones and for the East soldiers with Ded Moros (Old Man Winter) clothes or disguised as the Grinch. Combined with Kegetys Winter AddOn and BIS X-Mas trees it would be a nice funny one.
