  1. It'd make an awesome campaign. Kinda steal the initial story of Robotech with an alien ship crashing on a remote island and then 10 years later the aliens come to get it...

    Or something similar to Tiberian Sun where you have to defend the alien ship that Nod wants

    Have you got a system restore point before the installation of Deep Exploration?

    I had 50% of a fairly detailed mod going before oxy refused to import the LWOs or the converted 3DS's.


  4. That would be pretty cool, a bunched up group of polys to make one crater/deformation and then 1-2 really huge flat polys to compensate.

    Oh... you don't suppose there's an upper limit to the polygon numbers for islands do you? That'd suck. Imagine haing to make an entire island in 2000 polys...


  5. Yeah, Visitor is the thing I've wanted since the start. Cartography has always been a hobby of mine & I'd love to make a good map for OFP.

    Nice to hear it's probably a different interface, can't stand the one for Oxygen...


  6. I think we really need a patch for o2 to add a few important features.

    1) Support for JPGs when texturing and for use as background images

    2) Support for the Lightwave LWO file format. Lightwave is still a very heavilly used 3D program and the whole point of me applying for o2 was to use as a convertor so I can use models I have already made in Operation Flashpoint. I have done the majority of the groundwork for my Command & Conquer mod (as well as a few other smaller projects) in lightwave and the lack of support for LWOs has basically killed them all.

    Would there be any possibility of adding these 2 features?


  7. Looks pretty damn good. As for the mod itself, you should have no legal ramifications provided you never make anything resembling a profit from it.

    I think that the intellectual property laws would protect your work in the mod and not violate the image copyright that lucasarts hold.

    I'd be glad to test it as long as you don't want me to theorise what happens when I hit bugs.


  8. OK. I've converted the directories to exactly what you guys have recommended.

    I have made a dozen GIFs and corresponding PACs (Converted with TexView) and nothing IS F**ING LOADING!!!!

    I have tried almost every variant of the GIF format (except transparency) and in several depths of colour. With the PACs it loads without complaint but displays nothing. The GIFs just don't load with the error "Unable To Convert Texture, PAC2PAL error!"

    This, coupled with the lack of comprehensive tutorials and far from instinctive interface has virtually eradicated any interest in 3D modelling for OFP and has basically destroyed my C&C mod.

    Can anyone help avert this final surrender?

    EDIT: Is the texture convertor thing the error complains about supposed to be called "Pal2PacE"?


  9. Doesn anyone know of tutorials other than the BI ones on the Breathe site? To be blunt, I can barely understand a word of it.

    I was hoping to use lightwave to create my models and them import them into O2 for conversion (after using Deep Exploration to change them to 3DS) but all this does is create unusable models with heaps of errors even though they work fine in LW.

    If anyone has a link or some good tutes (oh, in English I should add), I'd appreciate if you'd mail the UJRL to Aliasalpha@mmgn.com

  10. That letter did make for interesting reading. The description kind of reminds me of the abused child syndrome (the correct name of which escapes me for now). Suffering under brutal oppression breeding the same attitude weather they're aware of it or not.

    Oh, and to the guy who said that the opinions of 10 kids on the net won't change shit, if just one of those kids grows up with a burning desire to change things instead of just accepting them as they are, he/she may remember this very discussion & act on it.


  11. Hows about this for an idea? We get every relatively major power to ship all their equipment to central Australia. The central desert is one of the biggest on the planet & has virtually NOTHING in it. We get them to set up their armies at points & have the single biggest motherfucker deathmatch in history. Whoever wins gets the planet & can do whatever the fuck they like once & for all. No rules so they can all cheat & sabotage the americans (since no-one seems to like them) and they can make all sorts of crazy alliances as long as at the end there is only one standing.

    Kinda like The Prize in Highlander now I come to think of it.


  12. ahh yes but at the time of writing, the only tool I had seen confrmation of being relesed was oxygen itself. I was suggesting that BI code a relatively idiot proof mod workshop so they could not only make a bit more cash but satisfy the demands of the community whilst protecting whatever they might feel they need to about their software.
