Do you want OPFOR vehicles to have TI?
Daniel replied to celery's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Active Infra-red searchlights should be possible now, that would be very cool for OPFOR tanks. Though if FLIR was modelled that would be cool also. -
Comedy gold right there. :D

Mac, note the intense sarcasm in Chris' post. ;)

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Daniel replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm sure elements of the campaign could make use of the existing OA maps. One of my favourite parts of OFP was taking off from Everon to bomb targets on Kolgujev. -
It's more of a design choice, BIS could easily adjust the values to give it less shine. I agree it should have less shine, and the textures on the Hellfires actually need fixing (lighting error). Some dust would be very nice too.

Not bad, good call on the radome. I'm sure RKSL can be more specific on the model inaccuracies if you ask him. :P Some other features to consider. - Front and back seats both have access to both TADS and PNVS (or just gunner TADS and just pilot PNVS if limited by the game engine). - Co-operative rocket firing. - 10 and 20 round burst modes for the 30mm cannon. Can someone confirm that Longbow Hellfires can indeed be guided by laser? I was under the impression that was only possibly with the AGM-114K missiles. Eitherway, the AGM-144K should (IMO) come with the BAF DLC since it's focused on counter insurgency warfare rather than massed tank battles in Cold War Europe...

British Troops DLC released & Official 1.01 Update
Daniel replied to Pauldarrington's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
They still look naff, they wouldn't look half as bad if they simply made them black, regardless of the design choice in giving the L85s EOTech sights. Guess there have been too many promotional shots to change that now... Could be worse, could be this: :D -
Source? That sounds unlikely to me since Canada doesn't have any carriers and India is still getting by with the age old HMS Hermes. EDIT: Just spotted the Indigenous Aircraft Carriers article on wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_Aircraft_Carrier#Aircraft The Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System sounds interesting. Apparently it could still be installed on the CVF Carriers if we do drop the VTOL F-35. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electromagnetic_Aircraft_Launch_System

That's been discussed and pretty much discounted, check back a couple of pages.

Getting ready to fly elements of TF86 into the AO (click to enlarge). -
Yeah, you're still going to need Mk 1 Eyeballs in the sky. Can't imagine an unmanned combat aircraft pulling alongside a potentially hijacked airliner.
-
I'm sure more BIS-quality maps would be appreciated. Though on a similar vein, so would a kinder to use Visitor...

Except that OA simulates it better than real life. The resolution and contrast seems far too good to my untrained eye. We're playing this to get a kick out of it, yes? Sitting in my virtual cockpit at stand off range and mowing down glowing white enemy silhouettes doesn't exactly get the blood pumping. Not as much as madly scanning for the hazy white smear that is either a civi scrambling for cover, or an insurgent aiming an RPG...

Well that sucks, the Eurofighter and Merlin had me really looking forward to the rest. :( Sorry to hear this, I hope BIS considers looking at the options.

Taranis is only a technology demonstrator for aircraft quite far down the line. We need to replace the Harrier's capability in the near future. I'm guessing Hornets would only be able to use the Queen Elizabeth carriers?

Can Helicopters (flying) be targeted by RPGs / OA?
Daniel replied to meade95's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
This explains the behaviour i'm seeing too. Was going to suggest adjusting some config values but I guess it needs something a little different. -
Er, yeah, what Rock said. :p Quick, edit it!

I think you'll struggle to keep the Chinook crew entertained (i'd personally leave them as AI or optional), but you could come up with extra tasks for the pilot. Could have an emergency CASEVAC unrelated to the mission crop up, say an IED strike on a convoy. Could be required to hitch in multiple supply runs to the FOB. Depending on what injury system you're using, the troops on the ground may need a CASEVAC mission at any moment, or they may just need a resupply if they get into heavy contact.

lol, you're not supposed to quote the spoiler. :p I found myself grinning throughout most of this film, loved it.
-
Of course! You can't really have a conversation with the AI now can you? :p

ACE 1.5 Beta (Advanced Combat Environment)
Daniel replied to xeno's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Any reason why the versions might still be one behind on the Six Updater? Or does it always lag behind the updates? Disregard. -
Converting Nogovo To Arma II

I'd actually appreciate the distance. There aren't many maps available that give jets and other long range vehicles the chance to shine. -
