  1. Max out all your settings when taking screenshots and make sure they're in direct sunlight, kinda hard to make out the colours there.

    Combat-Helo by Tricubic Studios

    Excellent, definitely getting this.
  3. High Definition Scenery 2011, very much looking forward to it! Smaller maps but much more realistic object density and placement, if I remember correctly.

    Aircraft Control - Poll

Ha, that's a negative. I get much more precision with mouse and keyboard. In fact i'm considering buying some pedals for better tail rotor control but sticking with mouse and keys.

Better dead than bored! :p With Baff1 on this one 100%. Can't believe how gadget orientated people are becoming when it comes to Arma 2. You can take a Vietmam M16A1 and the latest SOPMOD M4 with attachment-for-shooting-down-police-helicopters and lasers coming out of its arse; they both fire a 5.56 at the end of the day.

That is excellent Opticalsnare! Looking forward to it. :)

And what exactly do you want more than a good old fighting experience? Plus plenty of other nations out there buy F-16s and T-72s, i'm still talking conventional modern warfare. Just not America or Russia with their same-old proxy-war agendas. Two nations, kitted out to the teeth, fighting for their own survival. That'd be interesting.

I'd love to see a game based around two fictional conventional opposing forces. True, you're still using NATO and Warsaw pact kit, but at least the politics and motives can be left to the designers. It beats yet another game played as the US, it avoids the stereotypical Russians-as-the-evil-commies, and it beats killing goat herders through FLIR equipped weapons platforms. And, I think it would probably better suit the Arma2 engine. The current real world forces in the armaverse could make cameo appearances at the behest of the fictional nations, but the brunt of the fighting would be done by these fictional forces. It'd make a good dynamic campaign too: pick your side, affect the outcome of the war, gain rank as higher ranks get killed, etc.
  9. Psst, you're about thirty times over the image size limit there. :p "Launching missiles requires opening the weapons bay doors for less than a second, while the missiles are pushed clear of the airframe by hydraulic arms." according to wikipedia. Nifty stuff. Of course it can mount weapons on pylons, but that negates the point of being a stealth fighter. EDIT: You're asking about the addon aren't you? Ah... :o
  10. Agreed. Plus it limits the mission maker's freedom if there's an ever-present FOB in the middle of the map. Some flat empty ground might be nice, but I don't see an issue in adapting and building smaller outposts instead.

    Taki Civilians hate everyone...

Try setting Independent to consider BLUFOR hostile.

    A10 GBU-12 bombs unpractical

I always assumed it was because it would involve attaching a turret to a fixed wing aircraft.

    A10 GBU-12 bombs unpractical

Ironically it becomes incredibly boring for the pilot when a team gets proficient at laser marking targets. In a sense, thank god we don't have JDAMs... :p
  14. Daniel

    A10 GBU-12 bombs unpractical

Yes, by cycling through pressing TAB or right clicking a target. Laser targets should appear as red on radar and should be the only targets lockable with LGBs selected.

    Try Mando Missiles. ;)

    Shoulder-launched AT weapons roundup

Well, obviously you can't just try to get several random people together and try to start a game filled with mods. :p But if you know these people, it only takes a few moments to arrange in advance. Thousands of people have been doing so for the last 10 years. Drifting further off topic so i'll shaddup now.

How can he walk after that?

Agreed. The blood splatter seems to appear regardless of the damage inflicted, it's not an indication of whether damage was insignificant or fatal. I guess more seasoned players know not to read too much into it. This could be improved. Does that really surprise you? You can apply that to any aspect of life. Topics get much more constructive when people leave the mud slinging out of it. If you think people are acting like "fanbois", rise above it and form a sound argument.

    WarFX : Blastcore

You're completely right, I take it all back! :p I'm waiting on a fix too, but I feel sorry for Opticalsnare's threads - they don't half take a battering.

    WarFX : Blastcore

Pretty sure Opticalsnare and Sickboy can arrange whatever they like privately, they're both aware of the issues.

    Shoulder-launched AT weapons roundup

Hopefully in veteran or expert, weapons such as the Carl Gustav, Dragon and Metis have no ability to "lock-on". In the real world unguided rockets should indeed drop, but the speed and drop varies widely between warhead types. If you're just focusing on vanilla on "regular", ignore all this and put a note in for readers. Offtopic, I would try ACE2 just to see what you're missing out on. The difference is fairly dramatic.

How can he walk after that?

That's not a factor of computers being stronger at all. It's simply a design choice. Right now there's everything from respawns, revives, bleed outs, bandages and first aid available in both vanilla Arma2 and through mods. It's up to the players and the mission designers to choose the system that best fits their gameplay.

    Shoulder-launched AT weapons roundup

Ah, doesn't work like that if you use a mod that models ballistics. :p But if it's for vanilla Arma2 on easy settings, I guess that's fine.
  23. Or maybe better off sticking to City Life? The only way for this type of game to work is if everyone has exactly the same mindset. It wouldn't work if BIS tried to make it an expansion. That said, Nogville rocked. :D But that was a server full of people who already knew each other.
  24. Daniel

How can he walk after that?

I think you spend the time firing off thousands of pistol mags into a modern MBT, you deserve to see it explode eventually. :p J/K And as usual, there's nothing preventing the BIS coders from fixing up this side of the game for a future release while the artists carry on making content. Besides that, i'm all up for more realistic wounding in the core game.
