You're kidding right? Lemnos would be a huge undertaking for BIS. It wouldn't take much for BIS to chuck in a Desert Island / Rahmadi / Utes type island alongside. It would be the most land mass recreated for a BIS release to date (assuming a 1:1 scale). EDIT: Oh. Sorry, missread your intention, you're suggesting that the whole project is only Lemnos and nothing much else content wise.
-
Well, it's been tried before. Perhaps BIS suggest Iran or China will revisit it. And good God that thing's ugly. You can see now why I didn't image tag it. Yes indeedy.
-
Because.
-
Looking very cool cleggy! Really looks like it's driven to hell and back.
-
True that.
-
How can you be so certain? The top of the airframe on the Hokum is flat, while the 5th image helicopter has a "hump" before the tail boom and either a sloped back tail fin or perhaps even a tail rotor.
-
That's my bet too, it explains the swept back tail fin. Still odd though. EDIT: Actually I definitely wouldn't bet on it. :p

Some of the cables themselves are barely visible due to compression, nevermind shadows too. Check the cable running in from the left side. It seems to disappear where the smoke column "crosses" it. It suggests they edited the smoke in over the lines. But honestly, it's far too difficult to discern anything at that compression rate. Exactly. I can see why they'd add in helicopters, air defence and a distant smoke column, not the road or poles though.

How modern are we talking? I thought 9th Company was superb. There's definitely a lack of big budget, realistic modern war films.
-
Yeah, to invade Taiwan. The Chinese have entire army groups who's primary mission is thought to be the future invasion of Taiwan.

Needs moar troll faces.

Ha, of course it's a real photo. Assuming BIS are recreating Lemnos to some extent, i'd say they probably picked it because they like the island, not because of its strategic importance. That can be managed by whatever back story they come up with. It's even likely they'd rename it and plonk it in their Green Sea or some new fictional region.

Laqueesha, I believe The Hebrew Hammer is referring to GamersArch. Not questioning your post on the video thread.

What, the only objective of the American people was to kill bin Laden? That's a bit short sighted, surely they appreciate Al Qaeda is more than just one man? There's already been severe bombings in Pakistan in retaliation, and they managed that all by themselves. Who's to say there's not more in store for Westerners if AQ are allowed to continue to exist? I'd say it's a victory against AQ, it's an intelligence coup as well, but it shouldn't affect the reasons for being in Afghanistan by much.

I think the airbase, the location, the smoke, the possible SPAAG and the helicopters are probably of more significance than the type of transmission lines. :p Yep, that's been suggested a couple of times. Nice one. I get the feeling we might have found this (Lemnos) beforehand if we'd googled the right combination of clues.
-
Not necessarily, Singapore and Japan fly them too. It's more likely to be a fictional enemy.
-
They look to be rungs, spars or spare terminals, notice the top one has a line running from it.
-
Absolutely, looks really cool actually! D-Day style mission too, Taiwanese invasion? Ha, it's certainly no VBS2!
-
Have a skim over this. Basically more detail at the cost of a smaller map. Ok, left to right: Gasholders, plume of smoke, don't know (hangers?), SPAAG(?), helicopter (coaxial?), signpost, helicopter (KA-series?), parked aircraft, God only knows.
-
I can't guess how long any terrain might have been in production, but I think they were adding to the terrain team with the creation of Proving Grounds. I'm assuming that was added to give it a 'warry' feel.

I have to say, that has a very cool outline. Little lights just started flashing in the tactical part of my brain. There's a Corazol style choke point separating the west and east halves, a central airfield, a land bridge on the east coast, a second choke point to the south, and a western coastal town. Perfect.
-
Funnily enough, that's another symbol that means XOR. Well spotted though!
-
Personal opinion: it's an image doctored by BIS to give the impression of Eastern bloc hardware occupying a Mediterranean airfield.
-
Yep, it looks like some sort of SPAAG, possibly a Tunguska.
-
There's a second helicopter in the background. The area looks Mediterranean to me.
