    Latest Hell's Circus island releases.

    Export the town by: File/Export WRP Cells/Select by dragging a box (easy way). Drag box over area to export with mouse, uncheck "restrict to OFP loadable sizes" and hit export. Save the WRP file. Add it to an existing or new island: File/Import WRP Cells/select the saved WRP file - I suggest using the "Destination Start Cell" option to place the import where you want it. Please note, however, that I don't think that pinching someone elses work without their permission is cool. This is the catch with the import/export feature and has been the subject of considerable debate. If you wish to use anything from one of my islands feel free - but that doesn't mean that all island builders feel the same way. Building a well detailed town, for instance, really takes a long time. I mean many, many, many hours. It all goes in the detailing, but that is what sets any given island apart from another. You can build a basic island in 5 mins with WRPtool and it's region tool, it really takes no time at all. What does take time is in the placement of the finer details, but in my eyes - it is those same details that "make the island" as it were. If you wish to use WRP cells from an island, at least contact the island maker first, it shows respect for the hours people put into their addons - for free.

    Nearly 100% guys, dedicated doesn't crash anymore, so it's MP safe. There is a missing texture, perhaps that was the original problem. Missing Texture Really love your work lads and thanks for fixing the crash so quickly.

    Crikey! Just counted up the island directories in my islands working folder and there is 26 islands in total under construction..... And probably as many ideas for islands in mind as well! Um, think I need help? EDIT: 26 - That includes Nam and Euro islands mind you!

    Thanks for the imput guys, it is always valued and taken into consideration. After doing this for a few years now, I've come to realise that a users suggestion is nearly always right - and some have been so spot on it's crazy - making me rethink the way I build the islands completely. Commando84: "the small island was pretty cool with the background ambient war sounds" Would you like to hear more of this type of ambient noise in the islands environmental sounds? This one is kinda tricky for the larger Euro islands. The problem we face for these sounds is they limit the use of the islands a lot. Basicially, if I put WWII sounds like those featured on Onslaught45 into the other Euro islands then they are stuck being frontline combat zones. This doesn't suit missions either cloak and dagger style - me favs - or perhaps not even set during a large scale war or more modern conflict. I would like to see some non-WWII missions built on the Euro islands I have built, I have especially avoided using BB's Military Objects or Street Pack so we can play missions other than WWII ones. "just had problem with making the train move" I have only tested using the train when I have been the driver myself. The issue you have mentioned I believe should be directed to the AEF Train thread. There are some issues with the train, but lets face it - you can't knock this kind of work, no matter how frustrating some little bugs can seem. As a MP only player, I haven't successfully had the please of using the train in missions - but the tracks themselves add so much to the islands, I'm happy with that alone. There is no gradients to cause problems with the train so that can't be the issue olemiss: "try getting rid of that ambient" That added no extra lag for me after I put it in there. I would be surprised if it was the ambient sounds which are lagging your PC. If you wish to get rid of them, simply open the island's config file and remove the class EnvSounds: CfgEnvSounds section. Done! You could then also delete the sound dir itself, making the island package much smaller indeed. I am happy to do this for you, I could post a default ambient sound version if you would like, that is a few seconds work. "My only complaint besides the lag is all of the ROCKS you place on every island." Ok, point taken. I was wondering if it was time to completely get rid of the "bocage". What do you blokes think? I do particularly value rocks as cover in OFP however. After walls and houses, they are at the top of this virtual infantrymans list of good, solid cover spots. Only a hill between me and the enemy gets better "I find myself in the WRPedit deleting rocks for 10 min straight" If you used WRPtool, you could have done that in under 30 seconds. Open object browser, lock all objects other than rocks, click "select all" and then hit delete. If you didnt wish to delete every rock off the island, but only wanted to delete the ones in the bocage, simply lock all rocks as well - except the one you want to delete. WRPtool is THE WAY, my friend. More Euro islands to come, there is over 10 in the melting pot atm.

    AEF-Campaign: Train Addon FINISHED

    I'm about to release two more islands featuring AEF train addon. They are both small islands, but actually feature quite a bit of line. As a model railroader, I couldn't help myself.... Mind you, I think it helped with the trackplanning - check out some model railroad (railway) websites and magazines for some ideas. I suggest to the island builders, it really does help in implementing this wonderful addon. I would also love for some steam engines to run on the line, please ensure the knowledge is spread far and wide - as the actual rails themselves suit just about any map, anywhere. Island makers: Trainlines are as natural in your island as roads and rivers.

    Keep the faith mate! You have made so many folks happy in the past, we are all willing to be patient for updates in the future. Personally, I never dreamed of the day when I could fly either a Caribou or a Bushranger in OFP. As aircraft I have seen operate time and time again, this was an absolute pleasure for me.     Looking for WWII islands...

    I can't help but suggest: WRPtool In all seriousness, island construction with The Tool is dead easy. You could have your own winter island in a very short time, even without using any other addons than BIS Resistance - O.pbo has everything you need, from the right snow textures to some suitable dead vegetation to simulate trees which have lost their leaves due to seasonal changes. A winter island really suits the minimalist look, as a huge amount of vegetation both dies off and also gets covered in snow. WRPtool comes with an extensive manual which covers just about anything you might need to know, this is one of The Tool's best features ;) There is also an irc channel dedicated to helping out new island builders (details in manual) and forums to discuss WRPtool issues as well. Pretty good support imoho.
  10. WRPtool all the way! After so long placing roads, etc, in WRPedit, The Tool was a revolution (I really cannot begin to explain the difference features in WRPtool made to island construction). Not final, afaik, but thats not up to me. Oh - as an old hand at island building - its not the size of your island that counts, its how you use it!

    Spearhead44 - Version Four.

    I have fixed the bridge issue and also tweaked a number of other aspects of the island. Bridge fix simply achieved by adding BIS bridge directly under AEF bridge to "cheat" on the ai pathway issue. It is a solution, but not an ideal one. The town area has been totally reworked and SP44 now has an extensive trainline and railyard area. It's now possible to travel from a station on one side of the river to another station located in the yards on the river's far bank. One end of the river was riased to achieve this, but then offered the opportunity to include a dam on the island (sweeet!). Why isn't it out? Well, I fixed a load of stuff and, as usual, screwed up a bunch of other stuff in the process (you island builders will know what this feels like lol). For one I've added too many objects again :P Time for another culling..... I may release the newer SP44 v5 as perhaps Spearhead45 or something, so they can be used side by side as the "nature of the map" has changed considerably once again. Also had a real cracker of an idea which has led to a new map "Berlin Or Bust", as the terrain elevation changes would have totally ruined the original SP44 concept. I did try the Team Yankee bridges, but alas, no ai pathways there either as far as I could tell. Object builders please note: Island builders need you blokes to put "proper" ai pathways for your objects, otherwise they are only eye-candy. It makes life hard for everyone concerned - island builder, mission makers and the eventual users/players themselves. Has anyone some suggestion for 100% confirmed working ai pathway addon bridges? I need something "ww2 looking" that doesn't involve a addon pack the size of BAS Tonal :P Also, as an offshoot, but stilll SP44 related: Does everyone have major issues with AEF train lagging out dedicated server to the point of making any mission involving a train unplayable? This is very likely to be my own limitations as a mission builder, but does anyone else notice huge lag on the dedicated servers? Hmmmmm......
  12. There is a new version of Spearhead44 available for download from Hell's Circus website. Requires: OFP:R and AEF Train. Known Issues: (1) AI infantry don't seem to want to cross the AEF bridges on foot, but have no issues in vehicles. (2) Having trouble with AEF train crossing the railbridge, suggest you don't attempt to cross the river by train - use the railbridge as a second wheeled/tracked vehicle pathway. Perhaps someone has some suggestions for these issues? Need help here! Please use this forum thread for discussion on the island.

    Dammit! There is two tiny "bugs" I'd sworn that I had fixed. Both are wardrobes I had previously used to cover a TV in an enterable house. Now since I removed the house, there is a couple of seemingly random wardrobes about I will post an updated version very soon, I can't stand that! Sorry if you have already downloaded, I will make two new d/l's one with just the new island version.

    Charon, there isn't much available online specifically for NZ SAS. However, kit is basicially the same as for AUS SAS in Vietnam, which is a good deal easier to find - or google "ANZAC Vietnam" or something Perhaps your local video store has a copy of movie "The Odd Angry Shot", which tells the story of a group of Australian SAS stationed in Phuoc Tuy. Again, it is about Aussies, but once again, the kit is very similar. The equipment used in that film is pretty much spot on, as the film was made only a few years after ANZAC troops pulled out. Infact, if memory serves me correctly, it was the first Nam film made!

    Thanks for the continued interest in the island. MeeKong is alive and kicking and a new internal beta released about two weeks ago. All the older Hell's Circus Nam islands have been fully reworked and there is some new ones as well. I wish I could say more, but am not at liberty to do so. BTW, yes, the bridges are back. There is a road from the main firebase to the airfield in the new version, which includes a number of bridges. Keep the faith.

    Are you guys shrinking the Vietnamese and hence the weapons look kinda large? Obviously Im not sure about this, but if so - wont making smaller guns to suit the smaller Viet models then look strange when an Allied soldier like a US infantryman or Australian rifleman has to pick up a Red weapon due to lack of ammo, etc? Or are the weapons just a little big atm and those Viets are "normal" size? Either way, love it all lads
